Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Was great for a couple days away on valentines. Super friendly staff and a great location from Margate town centre and the beach, maybe around 10-15 minute walk. The room was lovely and cosy and clean, with a tv and a great shower. Can’t complain about anything.

So disappointed. I was expecting much much more based on the reviews online. Everything about it was average . Will not stay again as not value for money. It was fairly clean, however the room was fairly noisy due to it being in the road. Disappointed

We paid £116 per night with no breakfast for a deluxe room. Shower drain was blocked with hair and sand, sink plug broken, bathroom door did not close, windows did not close properly and were dirty and the quilt had brown marks all over it? There was no water in the room as advertised and when these issues were mentioned we were told to write a list and hand it to them when checking out. The bar and restaurant were closed throughout and we certainly expected a little more for the money. On the plus side, the location is good and close to everything you’ll need but if driving then parking is a lottery. Finally, we got the impression that if we’d asked to move rooms and given the deliberate oversight on basic cleanliness, we would have been moved to something similar so didn’t see the point.

This hotel has both good points and bad points.  I'll start with the good ones... The staff member we dealt with almost exclusively, called Justine, was absolutely charming, and made a real effort to welcome us.  She was also really helpful with advice about local restaurants and so on.  She is a real asset! The room was beautifully decorated, with a lovely sea view, a comfortable bed, nice sheets, lots of big towels, good quality bath products, and  well-stocked with facilities, like hair-dryer, iron, and safe. The tent in the garden, where we had our drinks on our first evening, was lovely, and would actually make a really nice venue, for something like a small, family party, or some such thing.  The basement bar itself, is also quite pleasant. However, a big issue for us was that we only discovered on arrival, that breakfast was not included in the price.  We're absolutely sure that it was mentioned in the website that we booked through, and we would never have booked the hotel, if it didn't include breakfast, as that's one of the main things that we enjoy about going away.  The website of the hotel apparently doesn't say breakfast is included, but we didn't actually look at that.  Also, the word "restaurant" appears both outside and inside the hotel.  This meant that we ended up spending something in the region of £50 more than the cost of the room, having to eat elsewhere, which we haven't budgeted for.  I had actually spoken to a man the day before we arrived, because we were having trouble booking a restaurant for friends on the Monday night, and wondered if the hotel had a dining room.  He mentioned they didn't serve dinner, but did not take that opportunity to tell us that they didn't serve breakfast.  Whilst we understood the reasons explained to us, why they no longer serve breakfast, it would have been really helpful to know in advance.  They certainly need to sort out the information on booking company websites.  The bathroom initially looked spotlessly clean, but we had trouble with the sink, which drained really slowly, so we ended up actually having to just take out the whole plug mechanism; and when I had my shower on the first morning, the shower didn't drain at all, so I ended up pulling out the plug mechanism in the shower as well, and unfortunately, I found it absolutely clogged up with long, black hair, which was absolutely gross.    Overall, I would say that if breakfast isn't important toyou, then this is probably a decent place to stay, but we would certainly not go back there ourselves.

Very expensive and not worth it. Its a guest house at best. Silver painted furniture and expensive wallpaper does not make it a boutique hotel. No breakfast is an absolute disgrace for the price. Rip off look elsewhere you'll only be disappointed

Wonderful location on sea front at the highest end of the harbour - also perfect for exploring Cliftonville and Northtown Rd - a quaint, cosy and clean hotel with pretty rooms. The staff - Justine and Michaela - couldn't do enough to help us. Really friendly, gave us local tips and helped us get ready for Pride after we'd checked out by letting us use the Bar toilets! Helped us with our bags and taxis - really kind, fun and helpful. A great place with lots of heart.

It is what it is. A room with a view We checked in at three. Left at about 3.30pm to go for a late lunch and see a show at Dreamland. Returned to the hotel at 11.00pm and checked out at 9.00am the next morning. It had no restaurant or breakfast facilities. The staff , the little we saw of them were amenable, the room reasonably clean and tidy. It was though very expensive, albeit in high season, at £220 for what it had to offer

Location is good with some nice bars, pubs and restaurants as well as town centre all nearby. Room was large and facing sea. Comfortable bed. Blinds meant room was quite light early in morning (summer stay) . Door on bathroom didn't shut properly. Staff very pleasant and hotel was generally clean. However describes itself as boutique (would disagree with this description) and 200 per night for room was expensive, with no breakfast as part of this price. Not as negative as some reviews and would stay again if cheaper price (140-160 ?).

Well i was VERY disappointed with my stay, i will start with the positives. The hotel was very clean, the room was fairley pleasant, quite spacious, tea, coffee, water all included, staff were friendly, and quite helpful, and the hotel itself was quite well situated, shame about the rundown and shut winter garden's opposite which did spoil the view a bit, but that is not the hotels fault admittedly, The sea view is lovely. I think this is where the positives ended for me personally. Now the negatives. The smoke alarm in the room was clearly broken, in a building of this age that was quite concerning, the stairs are steep and narrow, and we were placed right at the top, which is a long way up, no offer to help with our luggage and no lift or disabled help available at all, the hotel needs to remember not all disabilities are visible at first sight, the room cost us £140 for the night, and no breakfast included or even available, and if it was we wasn't informed, i did ask the night staff and was told no chef to cook, again do you really need a qualified chef to cook a breakfast or at least offer a continental breakfast. I assume the hotel did have wifi, but information how to access this was not provided in the room, and we didn't really fancy negotiating all those stairs again to gonto reception to find out. The shower was also not very powerful, it was a shower...just but any less pressure it wouldn't of been much more than a dribble. The iron was crap, tried to iron a shirt and even on full power it struggled to get creases out, it was little more than a travel iron with no option for steam. No front door key provided, yes the staff let you in, but most people prefer the freedom to come and go without ringbells and disturbing people, especially late at night, and the room key is on a keyring about the sive of a sheet of A4, very impracticable when going out, does not fit in your pocket. No parking All in all i would not stay here again, it was overpriced with a lack of facilities and services

We had booked online direct with the hotel and had an email confirmation. When we arrived the hotel said they had no booking on the system and could not help us. We had booked online and had the email confirmation printed and this was shown to them and yet still nothing could be done. The manager was off site and it was left to the reception guy to deal with who could not and did not. I would advise NOBODY to use this establishment.
