Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked Christmas Day lunch on the premise that gluten free options were made available from the set menu. Several emails were sent to proprietor reaffirming this. On the day we arrived again we reaffirmed gluten free. Eat starter, then main course arrived only to find half through it that it wasn't gluten free, meal taken away. Dessert arrived and again asked if it was gluten and answer was yes. Halfway through once again waiter came over and said it wasn't gluten free. I was unwell with severe stomach cramps and upset stomach, most unpleasant and detrimental to my overall health. Needless to say it ruined the main event and to top it off my complaint went unheard and no follow up from management. Unprofessional to say the least.

We just popped in for a lunchtime drink. This time we weren't looking to eat however they do serve food. It was a nice friendly place and the staff were equally as friendly. Our dog was also made welcome and a bowl of water was provided for him. Nice touch.

Well sized room (No. 3) but sleep ruined by a bright green "safety" ceiling light which shone in my eyes all night - consequently didn't get any sleep at all and was very grumpy in the morning. Bathroom poorly designed with loo right up against shower, awkward to sit down. Breakfast dire. Instant coffee -make it yourself from powder sachets and a hot water urn, with those tiny UHT milk pots (ugh). Ordered scrambled eggs on "doorstep" toast, but it was just a slice of thin supermarket sliced bread. Check in not until 3 and out by 10, if you please. Well, at least it wasn't that expensive and the people were nice.

When you book accommodation, you have to make it clear if you are travelling with children, and include in that booking information about their ages. This pub offers a lively fun experience for its locals, with music included. But if you're the family staying in the room right above the bar, and your kids are complaining about the noise, it's no fun at all. I think if the pub had told me that the only room available for our booking was the one above the bar I would at least have been able to choose not to go ahead with the booking. They didn't however, and nor could the boss even take a moment to stop doing what he was doing to say sorry, we'd had a crap night there. Really underwhelming and unimpressive response. What else to say about this place ... If you're into real ale, Time and Tide Taphouse next door has a far better range of beers available for you. The room was ok and nice enough, and the breakfast was a cooked breakfast only - with no cereal etc on offer. I think we all make errors from time to time, the mark of a good business is when they can take some responsibility, look you in the eye, and say sorry.

Came here for a one night stay with a friend. The bar itself is a typical English pub, offering a wide range of drinks and a food menu if you’d like to eat. The service behind the bar was quick and efficient and the check in process was super easy. If you go out and come back late when the pub’s closed, there’s an option to go through another entrance to get to your room. The room itself was small, slightly dated and not the cleanest. But that wasn’t too much of an issue as we were only there for one night and for £48 for two people, including breakfast you can’t go wrong! There’s live music on Friday and a Saturday between 9 - 11:30, so if you have to get up early for whatever reason, make sure you bring ear plugs or choose somewhere else. The breakfast was slightly slow considering it wasn’t particularly busy but everything was piping hot, good quality and decent sized portions. Overall, a comfortable room, on the Main Street of Sandwich with a pub on your ‘door step’.

This place is a little gem, situated in the centre of Sandwich, it is an olde world pub/ hotel with its own charm. Room was spacious and clean, great choice for breakfast and we had a Christmas menu for dinner. Staff were brilliant, friendly welcoming and accommodating and we had a fantastic evening listening to brilliant live music. Would definitely return.

Needed an overnight stay in Sandwich. Decent sized, scrupulously clean double room....with a welcome basket of bottles of water, crisps, nuts etc. Didn't expect that. Good choice at breakfast We were elsewhere in the evening so can't comment on the bar or food. Really friendly and helpful staff Much better than expected.

Had lunch here with my partner for the first time. We were greeted with wonderful staff and smiles! We sat down and our drinks order came swiftly, the coffees were delicious. We ordered 2 starters of breaded chicken stripes and mussels! The amount of mussels I got was unreal! I’ve never eaten so many the sauce they came in was lovely but the cubed onions were a bit hard still. We then ordered the fish of the day and the Sunday roast! Both were delicious and well cooked you got so much food for your money! I would defiantly come here again for food and drink! Next time I’ll treat myself to a pudding! I would highly recommend eating here especially if you are looking for good food at a fair price! 10/10!

Visited for lunch with my family, the main menu was no different than a children’s menu, and the food delivered was what a child would expect. Gammon steak was actually just ham, but the staff did not know the difference between the two. Certainly would not recommend unless you have a children’s party !

We decided to have a drink and something to eat as the pub looked nice and had seating outside. We were in a little bit of a rush so we ordered a bowl of loaded nachos and a ploughman’s as we thought that it would be quick and not much could go wrong. We sat and waited for half an hour and nothing came so I went in to ask and was told that the plates were just about to be served…. When the Ploughman’s came we both laughed as the cheese was almost non existent and the bread was a slice of the thinnest white bread I’ve ever seen, not great for £9.50. I will definitely not be returning
