Detailed Reviews
My wife and I have just had a lovely first ever visit to this small country hotel, staying for four nights whilst exploring parts of Kent and East Sussex. The hotel’s key strengths are its staff, its cleanliness, its food and its location.
Russell is the excellent hands-on general manager and his small, friendly and efficient team includes Mikki, Sam, Toby and at least three others whose names we didn’t know. All are very good, with nothing too much trouble, and are a real credit to the hotel. Full anti-coronavirus measures were in place, with cleanliness obviously a priority. This precluded daily tidying of bedrooms to protect guests and staff, but was no problem as additional supplies of fresh towels, tea/coffee/fresh milk and loo rolls etc were delivered instantly when requested from Reception.
We had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant each day and all the food was well cooked and beautifully served, with a decent choice of starters, main courses and sweets plus wines. The hotel is situated on a main road just north of Tenterden, but traffic noise was no problem and there was plenty of complimentary on-site private parking available, including to the rear of the well maintained grounds. Free WiFi was readily available too, including in the bedrooms.
In short, we very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to others without any hesitation. We hope to return in the future if looking to stay in mid Kent.

We were given a voucher for a one night stay at The Little Silver Country Hotel in Tenterden and a tour of Chapel Down Winery and after a hasty booking on Monday 15 August we managed to secure one night here with the Chapel Down Winery tour the following morning. We wanted to stay here the following night but, due to it's popularity we had to book elsewhere for the following night. We had an enjoyable stay and the hotel is lovely, as are the grounds and can see why it is chosen as a wedding venue due to the setting. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. We enjoyed a nice full English breakfast before we left. Only drawback is the availability of taxis in the area so if you have plans make sure you don't leave it until the last minute like we did!

I cannot thank the team enough for answering all my emails in the lead up to our stay and for making sure all my requests were dealt with sufficiently.
The room overall was lovely, along with the food and the staff were top notch.
The only reason I could not give this gem five stars was; one, the room was really cold and I had to ask for the heating to be turned up which did'nt make much difference so therefore we had to leave the portable heater on the whole time. Secondly, there was a small issue with the jets on the spa bath but the lovely lady at reception took off the final bill the extra I had paid from a normal room to a four poster room which shows this hotel really does care about their customers.
Overall a very good night away with lovely food and friendly staff.

Stayed for 1 night as part of Virgin’s Chapel Down Vineyard experience. The only room available was an upgraded jacuzzi room with a 4 poster bed and as we had no other choice, we booked it.
The room overlooked the garden and was clean but disappointing - completely stuck in the 80’s decor wise and the bed small. The bathroom had seen better days and the jacuzzi a small bath with some jets which we didn’t bother with.
The room is accessible and has stacks of room for guests who use a wheelchair. That said, the shower area needs a good dose of anti mould remover and the awful shower seat replacing to make it more inviting for those who need to use it - it made me very sad and depressed just looking at the accessible “aids”.
Despite there being 2 of us, there was 1 bottle of water, 1 pack of biscuits (already open), 1 soiled hand towel but the bath towels were huge, clean and soft! Yes I could have asked for more supplies and had a moan but our stay was brief and the room functional.
Public areas were pleasant and felt more up to date than the bedroom.
Dinner was nothing special and we’d have gone into Tenterden had we have not had so much wine at Chapel Down! Cooked breakfast was excellent.
My star rating has been upped because of the staff who were great from the minute we walked in to the minute we left - very friendly and jack’s of all trades which must be hard work for them.
All in all, an expensive night away for a very mediocre hotel room.

Room Tip: Free parking, hotel on a main road - perhaps ask for a room overlooking the garden.

We stayed here as part of a Virgin Experience trip to Chapel Down vineyard. When I booked there was only one room available (four poster) for the nights we needed to stay, I also paid for an additional night. Our room was overlooking the garden so a pleasant view. The four poster was a small double which was a bit small for a comfortable nights sleep. The bathroom had a spa bath but the bathroom was looking a bit dated. The shower was not great. We ate in the hotel our first night and the food was disappointing. I ordered a starter and dessert and the prawn and avocado salad was not very appetising. Frozen prawns which had a watery taste. My husband has the burger which was OK. The hotel only has a small bar with limited options. Breakfast was mediocre. I had porridge which had not been cooked long enough. The bacon sandwich looked like it had been thrown together. The hotel also charges extra for latte, cappuccino etc (£2.50). We didn’t eat in the hotel our second night.
In its favour, the hotel was clean and the waiting staff are doing their best. I suspect like others in the hospitality industry it is challenging to get both catering and waiting staff. I was disappointed when I checked out that the receptionist didn’t even ask if we had enjoyed our stay. I didn’t complain as I am conscious that it is a difficult time but … at £150 per night I expected better customer service and more attention to the quality of the food.
My overall thoughts are that the hotel could be great if it tried a little harder. With the Virgin Experience ‘deal’ this is the only place to stay so it has a captive audience. I didn’t think it was value for money.

We stayed the night as part of a gifted Virgin experience with wine tasting at Chapel Down. We had to “upgrade” to a four poster room as there were no other rooms available with the voucher. “Upgrade” is pushing it a bit; it’s basically a small four poster bed in a room of chintzy decor. The bathroom was also extremely dated. Cannot fault the cleanliness though so well done to the house keeping staff for that saving grace.
We were going to have a full English for breakfast but saw the plates of other guests and realised that would be a mistake; cheap sliced white bread as thin as crackers, cheap looking sausages, anaemic eggs etc. Went for eggs on brown toast but couldn’t actually eat it.
Reception service was a bit abrupt.
The hotel is not a comparable partner for the Chapel Down experience, bit of a marketing mismatch. The owners need to wake up and move with the times else its elderly clientele will not be replaced with the next generation.

We stayed at the little silver country hotel for one night which was part of a virgin experience including wine tasting at a nearby vineyard (Chapel down)
Booking was simple and made on,one. However no rooms included in the package were available for any of the dates we were available so our only option was to pay extra and upgrade our room.
Parking was good plenty of space to the rear of the hotel
Check in was quick and the lady very nice explained breakfast time but did not tell us check out times or that the restaurant was closed. (I had found this out myself reading online luckily)
We were driving to the vineyard so did not need to sort out transport. However is you need a taxi I suggest you book early the hotel does not help you with this and it can be tricky as we heard whilst there. I don’t hi k a hotel that obviously has many guests staying as part of this package should have some sort of taxi booking service or at least help in some way.
Our room was the platinum suite which was situated in the loft area. It’s a big suite with bathroom, bedroom, living area and desk/wardrobe area which was handy as my husband di have to finish up some work. The room was very clean and the bed and bedding comfortable. It needs a little updating especially for the price I don’t think it’s worth the cost. The carpet leading up to the room needs a proper clean yes it was hoovered etc but it’s light grey and has dirty marks all up it. The TV remote was only working on channels starting with 7 so you needed to know an exact channel to change it. I did tell the staff upon checkout and they were not surprised and said it was like this in a few rooms. The bathroom was clean and a good size but could do with a revamp. The TV would be better in the living area where the sofa and armchair was so you could sit and watch. I’d expect a room like this to have a small fridge with fresh milk and water
The breakfast was lovely. We were up early so first down. The young girl serving was quick with orders and very polite. The full English was very nice although I think my hubbys scrambled egg was a very tiny portion. Coffee was fresh and the justices good.
Overall it’s a friendly clean hotel but yes it could do with bringing up to date a little bit.
The vineyard tour is great 🍾🥂

We stayed here for 1 night as part of the Virgin chapel down wine tour. Week before we arrived I rang the hotel to make a dinner reservation and was told the restaurant was closed as they have no chef, I did question why they hadn’t contacted us to let us know and was told it’s on their website.I really feel they should have either called us or emailed us . When we booked we were also told they had only upgrade rooms available so I had to pay another £45 which I agreed to, when we checked in I was expecting a grand room, it was the most dreary room I have ever stayed in and to think they charged me £45 extra, the bathroom wasn’t very clean and the side of the bath panel was cracked and the shower screen was mouldy and extremely dirty, I went to reception and asked to be moved and was told there wasn’t any other rooms available, one of the ladies in reception came and cleaned my bath and agreed that this was one of the rooms that needed updating. This hotel is obviously making extra money regarding the virgin wine package for charging for upgrades. I had a great time at chapel down and feel that virgin experiences need to look at pairing this hotel with chapel down. Would never recommend or stay here again.

We stayed one night at the Little Silver Country hotel in Tenterden located about half a mile before the town centre itself. It has plenty of car parking and although looking rather ordianry from the outside was actually delightful. We had been given a 'Red Letter' experience to stay there one night and this combined a four poster bed with a bottle of champagne. The room was large with a bath and a shower and was well appointed with tea/coffee facilty, hair drier, and a comfortable four poster bed. The champagne (which we drank on the garden terrace) was also lovely. No meals were served on Wednesday evening so we walked for 5 minutes to the nearby golf club and found excellent food and service. Breakfast the next morning was attentive and plesant - although not exceptional in range - mainly traditional English - the croissants were those you find wrapped in polythene bags. Service at the hotel was friendly and attentive. We liked the place and would recommend it. I would not however recommend the Red Letter gift. Totally inflexible and useless.

We got married here on 11th August with a twilight ceremony followed by disco/party. We could not have wished for a better day, and are so grateful to the whole team at Little Silver but especially to Adrienne who ran our day, ensuring it ran smoothly and helping to make it perfect.
Adrienne is worth her weight in gold as a wedding/event planner and coordinator. She is enthusiastic, confident in her work, and able to put people at ease and make you feel like you’re in safe hands, but for us it was her willingness to go above and beyond, when she knew that something wasn’t as we had hoped, to fix it. We cannot thank you enough for finding and picking up the thistle button holes at the very last minute, something which was very important to us both.
The venue itself we have always liked especially in summer because of the many different spaces- the garden, orangery and Kent Hall particularly, all of which we found to be kept spotless. Many guests commented on how lovely the venue is. Our room was also spotlessly clean. We had a lovely stay (although very hot) and breakfast the next morning set up just for us and our guests with our playlist in the background was a nice touch.
We found all staff working on our day to be so kind, helpful and accommodating, and especially to the bar staff later in the evening, lots of guests commenting on how great you all were.
Highly recommended!

I think they do! Just ring as they are very helpful
The hotel has two mobility rooms, a twin and a four poster. Both rooms have wet room bathrooms that contain low baths and separate showers suitable for wheelchair users. Both rooms are on the ground floor with designated parking close by. There are no steps between the rooms and the main areas of the hotel and there is easy access to the garden on nice days
Good evening John,
Yes Little Silver do provide afternoon teas.
