Good sized room, clean throughout. There was plenty of coffee and tea plus biscuits and water in the room. The reception and bar and lounge areas were comfortable and warm. We had lunch, two breakfasts and an evening meal (12 of us to celebrate a birthday). All of the food was delicious prepared and presented very nicely. All of the staff were courteous, efficient and helpful.
I am happy to give a glowing review for the Marine hotel. I stayed for a couple of nights between Christmas and New Year. The place was spotlessly clean and the Hotel although obviously old, has been updated for today's guest. The breakfast room was light and airy. The staff were very helpful. The lady on reception gave me some great information and was very knowledgeable. She even told me when the local baker was putting out the sourdough bread.
Stayed here for 4 nights from 2nd January with my wife, kids and their partners for my 60th birthday. It was most enjoyable with clean rooms and friendly staff. We ate in the restaurant each evening and some lunchtimes and the food was really very good. Between us we had most things on the menu and every plate was delicious. The prices for the food and drinks were also reasonable. We had pre-dinner drinks in their cosy lounge with a real imitation fire that gave off a lot of heat which was good as it was pretty chilly outside. It is a hotel we would definitely recommend and are returning to on our own in the summer to make use of the balcony rooms which overlook the sea.
From a good previous visit last year thought I'd arrange to celebrate my dad's 80th with a family meal, unfortunately the experience was a real disappointment. Waited an hour for our meals all Sunday dinner with exception of a kids meal. 2 x lamb and 2 x beef portion size was on small side ( 2 small slices of meat 3 fairly small roasties basic veg boiled brocoli, cauliflower and carrots and a Yorke which was the best bit) for all meals and the 2 x beef was so chewie that they couldn't be eaten. Staff were kind and helpful in taking the meals off the bill and giving a token discount which was good but sadly the meal wasn't up to the kind of standard the price tag suggests. As harsh as it is we could have gone to a well known carvery and got a better meal.
Spent a couple of nights at this lovely hotel. Excellent food and friendly staff... could have spent hours sitting in the comfy chairs, next to the cosy fire gazing out to sea. Lovely walk into Whitstable to burn off some breakfast calories. Thank you.
