The Marine Hotel garners praise for its inviting atmosphere, with guests often highlighting the tastefully decorated rooms that boast sea views and balconies. While the hotel's cleanliness and professional service receive commendations, opinions on the rooms are mixed; they are appreciated for their cleanliness but criticized for seeming outdated. Located on the beachfront, the hotel offers easy access to seaside strolls, though some guests feel the pricing is steep given the dated nature of accommodations and dining options.

We had a super sea view room with a balcony. The hotel was very Covid conscious and so we felt very safe and accepted therefore that the room wouldn’t be serviced. We should have had aircon but it wouldn’t work but the fan provided was fine for us. The staff were keen that we had a good stay and were very accommodating, just a bit slow when we had breakfast on the outdoor tables. We would return again because we had a wonderful 3 day relaxing break and we treasured being able to go somewhere by the sea, safely meet with great friends and enjoy delicious food.

Stayed for a few nights in late June and we had a great time. We had a superior room with a balcony and it was well worth it-we could chill and watch the world go by and were treated to a beautiful sunset one night. Due to Covide restrictions, there was no maid service but getting a change of towels or bedding was no problem at all. The only irritation in the room was that there was a Nespresso coffee machine which I wanted to use but there were no instructions, I tried to get the pods in but gave up in the end so the addition of instructions would be useful for others (only a teeny gripe though!). We didn't try the car park but it looked full when we checked once we were inside, and it remained that way. We managed to park on the road but I wouldn't say parking on the road was plentiful and we were were quite a long way up the road. We ate in the restaurant on our first night and it was superb, we'd never had skate wing before and it was fab and not a bone in sight. We loved the fact that it was an easy 15 minute walk along the seafront to get to Whitstable harbour, the beach and the small but pleasant town centre shopping area. Overall a fab UK break and we will definitely try and return in the future

Just returned from another lovely night at The Marine Hotel .It is one of our favourites for a night away having stayed the week before lockdown we were very pleased to go again this week. They are so well organised with COVID safety the staff are excellent we both felt very comfortable and safe. The Menu although slightly reduced was still very good. We had booked a table for lunch and again for dinner lucky to get a sea view on both occasions. Food was very good and superb value for money. Our room was very large with a very well designed wet room would definitely recommend.

Last-minute booking called the hotel directly and spoke to a very helpful member of staff. I was given great instruction on how far the hotel was from where we were and roughly how long it would take to get there,
On arrival booking in was easy as all details had been taken over the phone and we and our 2 dogs were made to feel very welcome.
The bar and breakfast staff were extremely helpful, the dogs were allowed in the breakfast room, which was BRILLIANT. The breakfast, which was included in the price was delicious and plentiful and the check out time was very reasonable at 11 am.
The hotel had limited car parking but it was easy to park on the road directly at the front of the hotel.
Fantastic location on the seafront, great for dog walking and within walking distance of local shops, Whisterable was roughly a 20-minute walk along the seafront.
We would highly recommend this hotel and would happily stay there again.

The staff at the Marine made every effort to provide efficient yet friendly service while abiding by strict Covid-19 hygiene rules. Room spotless with no extras such as toiletries, tea, coffee to collect germs. Personal tea making kit delivered on request. They made us feel welcome and we enjoyed our stay.

After a terrible experience from the more expensive Hotel Continental downtown Whistable, I was really delighted with the well furnished 2nd floor room with seaview and a bath. Service and reception well run and friendly and the whole hotel feels airy and well ventilated including the restaurant. Also a great cafe area right outside the restaurant. Odd thing was a kettle but no coffee, tea or cups in the room.
Recommended.

Firstly, the staff were really helpful and friendly. Even though they wouldn’t service the rooms because of covid they did provide anything we asked for, such as clean towels/tea/coffee etc really quickly. The restaurant was a little more chaotic. The service was really slow. The first night we waited for well over an hour after ordering as they’d ‘lost’ our order. On the last morning they had some sort of technical problem in the kitchen and again, we waited well over an hour to eat but when the food came out it was nice.
I feel that, given the prime location and size of the hotel it could be run a little better than it is.
Perhaps once things return to normal post pandemic the hotel may be able to improve on certain things.
Overall, we had quite a nice stay with an amazing sea view.

Made very welcome and a spacious room and en suite. It was a very hot two days and the duvet was too hot and heavy plus pillows were too hard. However, plenty of sanitising stations making one feel safe and secure with their social distancing. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast and staff very friendly. The evening meal menu was varied and the food was very good.

Responded 24 Sept 2020
Thank you very much for taking the time to provide your feedback from your recent stay with us. I am very sorry that you found the duvet to be too heavy and hot on such a warm day. Perhaps we should have made it clear that we could have exchanged this for a flat sheet instead, which might have been more comfortable. I apologise that this option was not presented to you. I am really pleased that you enjoyed the breakfast, and i'm sure you can imagine how delighted I am that you should compliment the staff. Thank you once again, we look forward to welcoming you back.

On arrival to The Marine we enquired about the parking for the hotel and was told that at 3.30 in the afternoon that this was full but we could park on the road out the front. This was not a problem as a few drives around the block we found a space.
On checking in we were directed to our room and on entering the room we found a well appointed double room which initially we were pleased with.
It was a hot day and the room was 30 degrees. As it was a 2nd floor room the windows had security tags so could only be opened a small amount so fresh air was limited, the bathroom window could not be opened.
However the room had an air conditioning unit. We set the unit to 19 degrees and left it on as we spent a couple of hours on the beach.
On our return to the room it was still 30 degrees. We called to reception and a member of staff came up. She checked the unit and said sometimes it takes a bit of time for them to work but it should do. We asked for a fan (the info in the room said they were available) and she said she would try to locate one.
No luck with the air con and the room had got hotter with us both taking a shower.
We went down to reception to talk to the duty manager. We were then told that the air con in the hotel was not working and the engineers had been called but would not be there today. There were no more fans because they had been issued to other rooms and she was unable to open the windows further because of health and safety and she did not have the authority or the key.
We asked to talk to the general manager to get authority to open the windows further but he was not available. We asked if she could call him (I noted he was manager of the year 2019 for Shepherd Neame) but was told there was no point as the keys for this were not in the building. We asked for a fan. The manager said she would try to get one but was unsure how she could. As they were fully booked we could not change rooms.

It is at this point where a good manager would offer drinks or dinner to offset our inconvenience but there were no concessions, customer service or proper apologies. We found the manner that we were spoken to unhelpful and unwelcoming.

The manager went up to our room to check the air conditioning herself. On her return she said that it was on the wrong setting and should now be working. Ten minutes later there was no change in the temperature of our room. By now we were late for our reservations for dinner and in fact on arrival to the restaurant ten minutes late we were turned away.

We returned to the hotel 40 minutes later and discovered that the room was still 30 degrees and no fan had been found. We decided to check out and return home the whole evening being ruined.

Even as we left the duty manager argued that even if the temperature says 30 it does to mean it is.

A disappointing experience. Things go wrong in hotels but good customer service can always make up for it.

Responded 8 Aug 2020
Dear Ed_Vogue9 Thank you very much for taking the time to provide the feedback from your recent stay. I am very sorry that we provided poor service in relation to the performance of the air conditioning. It has been an exceptionally hot and sunny week, and the room you were staying in being south-facing does receive the sun all day long. By the time you came to check in, the room had been warmed by the sun for many hours and our air conditioning system was at a loss to much improve the situation. Apologies I think there was a misunderstanding regarding the status of the air conditioning, which was and is in full working order but given the ambient temperature in the room and due to to sun shining in all day, it would have taken a very long time for the room to have cooled down. As you found, after several hours the temperature had not improved. I am very sorry that we also did not have enough fans available to the point that once they were all in use, there were not left to be provided to you. Unfortunately due to health and safety reasons we are unable to remove window restrictors as there are part of the risk assessment. I'm sorry I was not working during the time of your stay and unable to address the problems in person. I am very sorry that the Duty Manager was unable to resolve the issues encountered and you had to decide to cut your visit and return home. As a consequence of your feedback we have put the following measures in place; more fans available for guests that request them; keeping the curtains closed in the south-facing rooms from the point of guest check-out in an attempt to keep the temperature down.

A very enjoyable stay to attend a wedding. The welcome was warm and friendly, the staff were attentive and always smiling.
We enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the clean and comfortable room.
Top marks for getting rid of the horrible little plastic milk pots in the room and supply flasks of fresh milk as required.
The wedding was a great success with lots of helpful staff on hand.
We will visit again for a stay.

Is there a lift?
Answer from Nicholas
We have a platform lift which allows access between the ground floor and first floor only. If you have specific access needs please call us before/upon booking so that we can discuss your requirements and ensure a suitable room is allocated.

Is car parking on site and secure?
Answer from Nicholas
We do have a small car park of about 20 spaces which are available free of charge on a first come first served basis. Due to the size of the car park and the popularity of our hotel and the bar and restaurant, the car park does fill up quickly so most of our guests will use the on-street parking along Marine Parade or the other residential streets in the area, most of which are free and unrestricted. There is also a public long-stay car park 380m away with a maximum daily charge of £3.
