Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

5 stars based on value for money. No frills but excellent value for the price paid Easy check in. Decent room -clean, tea, coffee, milk, biscuits etc. Comfortable bed and very quiet. Exactly what we needed for a one night stay on New Year’s Eve.

Terrible … how is this place open My room … very dated … bathroom, you cannot shut the door and use the toilet …and the floor in there was awful It was minus 3 plus outside … no working heater in my room … Only 1 socket … for kettle, hairdryer and other uses Curtains not fitted properly Breakfast room closed … no notification… breakfast provided in a bag … and they got that wrong … and you had to collect … eat in your room … and the hot drink machine only offered black coffee. The rest of the place just felt tired rundown … clean … but didn’t feel clean Other hotels near bye today are similar price or cheaper… use them

Very, very dated hotel (ex Premier inn) WIFI is absolutely hopeless Breakfast offering was extremely poor both in terms of quality and eaten in an old corridor The hotel needs a complete refurbishment with its own identity rather than hanging on to the old image of Premier Inn Hotel is clearly understaffed Sadly, I wouldn't stay again or recommend

This was our second stop here, on both occasions we have been very happy with the service. Obviously been a premier Inn at some point but despite that everything was spot on. Great customer service on arrival, nice touches of folded towels and greeting on the bed and chocs on the cups. Small touches but a nice welcome. Simple serviceable room clean and comfortable, great hot shower Would stay again. Thanks for your hospitality. Living in West Scotland it has been a great halfway stop on two of our travels south. As for the yarrow bridge pub on site well wouldn't touch it with a barge pole terrible service yesterday. Have done a review too. Shame they let the plaza down.

Cheap and cheerful wee hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly easily sorting out any wee issues. The Continental breakfast was fine but took a bit of working out. I would recommend a helpful note within rooms in how to best approach and enjoy breakfast. For example, the breakfast room is rather small and we took our breakfast back up to the room. But not having a tray was difficult and caused a few journeys up and doon the stairs. Good venue, good location, and certainly a good pub, The Yarrow Bridge, next door. Cheers

Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was clean, beds were very comfortable, only criticism was that the bathroom was very small, being that the toilet was so close to the door one of the toilet roll holders was hanging on the door.

We booked 5 nights at The Plaza Hotel & from our initial phone contact with Jenny all the way through our stay the staff were outstanding, greeted on reception by Janet who was so helpful and an old team member from the hotels Premier Inn days, so wise, Mohmad was on reception on a couple of mornings & he was also so helpful. Thank you to all the team at The Plaza for a most pleasant stay. We had room one accessible room which was OK but a little dated & also with no emergency cord in the main bedroom but one in the bathroom. Criticism must be given to other hotel & Pub guests who used the only 2 disabled bays at the front for parking though 2 more disabled bays are at the back but not much use when you are on crutches as the rear entrance is locked to make space for the breakfast room. all in all we will stay again. Thanks Ken & Marie Room One

Very pleasant staff, clean room and bathroom, very comfortable bed and a nicely laid out breakfast. An excellent choice by my wife for a one night stay, right next door to a jolly good pub too, what more is there to say! Thank you very much Plaza.
