Wow, I cannot wait to return.
The site is unassuming, nestled back from the road under the awe of Pendle Hill, each tent is a little haven.
Beds are comfy, spacious and the paths well designed so to prevent soggy muddy feet.
The shower block is very close by, with a powerful rainfall shower, beautiful toilet and change area and cute little touches such as the Belfast sinks and little plants in the pot wash area.
The central fireplace is a key feature- everyone can sit around comfortably and it’s possible to cook a bbq on the logs and coal available to purchase on site.
The little campfire marshmallow hot chocolate kits are a delicious and well thought out touch.
Far enough away from the quiet little farm, but close enough to feel rustic, this is a lovely setting.

Within a 25 minute walk is the Bulls Head- a superb pub. Alternatively there’s Northcote, or even Mytton Fold both within walking distance.

My mum and sister planned a trip to Ribble Valley Retreat for my birthday at the end of April.

We stayed in the shepards hut and one of the bell tents, both of which were so cosy and gorgeous. The outdoor shower and bathroom facilities are lovely and extremely well kept, worlds apart from any camping facilities I’ve used before.

The location is incredible with a breathtaking view of Pendle Hill and surrounded by nature, which was so quiet and peaceful. We were lucky to have clear skies which meant gorgeous sunsets and perfect stargazing conditions as there’s such little light pollution, made better by toasting marshmallows over the fire pit.

Emma could not have been more accommodating throughout our stay and even helped my family plan a surprise birthday picnic on arrival surrounded by the beautiful scenery and cows (my favourite animal and the best surprise). All of the little details and extra touches were so appreciated.

Thank you for being so warm, and welcoming, I will definitely be returning (and not just to see the cows again…!) - it was truly a perfect birthday to remember!

This is my favourite place to stay to explore the Ribble Valley.

I’ve visited several times now and I’ve loved seeing the changing of seasons here. Fire pits and crisp dark nights of the winter, seeing the lambs and nature awake in the spring, through to waterfalls and wild swimming in the summer. There’s so much to offer on the doorstep from cute villages to epic nature spots. Windermere is not even too far if you love a trip to the lakes.

The owners Emma and Peter ensure you have everything you need to enjoy your time and have designed the spaces with a sophisticated flair. The glamping tents have a comfy bed, electric and cosy soft furnishings, not to mention how trendy their shower block feels! Closing the tent doors under a blanket of stars to open with view of Pendle hill at sunrise is the ultimate escape. Fuelled by the fire pit and with breakfast hampers delivered by morning you cannot go wrong.

For my sisters birthday we approached Emma to ask for help in arranging birthday surprises and we came up with the perfect picnic spot and set balloons up in the tent. The extra touches Emma added were so thoughtful such as the toasting marshmallows and card.

If you want a little more luxury, the self contained shepherds hut is en suite with underfloor heating, so great for the colder dates. And if cooking your own food feels like too much effort the quality of the restaurants nearby won’t let you down. Country pubs or Michelin star. Not to mention local markets for produce.

Honestly, this place is heaven to me. Surrounded by nature and away from distractions but close enough to explore the beauty of the landscape and towns nearby.

Can I move in permanently?!

We booked two bell tents and the shepherds hut for two nights in August. Emma was on hand when we arrived to help with any questions we had. We stayed in Belle which had lovely finishing touches. The location is perfect for jumping on the train to Whalley and Clitheroe. We spent the afternoon in Clitheroe and had a drink at Holmes Mill and visited the castle. We had a drive to Whalley later that day and had walk round and a gorgeous ice cream at Holdens - definitely recommend!
Would also recommend the Black Bull which is around 5 minutes drive from the bell tents. Our kids loved playing in the field and we even saw three deer in the field next door. Toilet and shower facilities were great - really clean and modern.
We made use of the bbq and had a fire in the large fire pit each night. Emma kindly provided skewers and marshmallows so the kids loved toasting those.
It was lovely waking up to lovely views of Pendle Hill and the moors! We will definitely be returning!
Thanks Emma for all your efforts in creating a wonderful place to stay!

We have just arrived home from the most amazing few days at Ribble Valley Retreat with our friends. The site is just perfect and has everything you need to make sure the stay is comfortable and cosy. the kids just played all day in the safety of the surrounding fields and we didn’t have to worry about them at all which made for a very relaxing trip for the parents. Both the bell tents and the huts were fully equipped to ensure all needs met, the underfloor heating in the hut was very welcome for drying clothes after a very rainy day and the beds were so comfortable we all slept brilliantly. Emma was the perfect host and couldn’t do enough for us whilst also leaving us to it to enjoy some quality time together with friends we don’t see too often. The communal shower and toilet facilities were as good as any home bathroom and there were safe paths to every hut, tent and toilet as well as a good level of lighting so no one had any falls. I wouldn’t hesitate in booking another stay soon and we are already planning our next trip. Thank you so much, it’s been a pleasure x

We absolutely loved it here and will be returning!

Emma look after us from start to finish! The hospitality was outstanding.

The campsite is in a perfect location with a train station directly opposite the entrance gates. It’s 5minutes to Whalley and 10mins Clitheroe which is a lovely place! We walked up the Castle and on the back down found a nice Little ice cream cafe with games outside fir the children to play with. There’s also a food hall and there’s lots of cafe’s/restaurants to choose from,

There was 4 of us, me, my partner and two boys, aged 5 and 9, they love it, they could just run round and play on the field right in front of our tent!

I highly recommend!

We stayed for a weekend with our 4 and 2 year old. There was plenty of room in the bell tent even with a camp bed and travel cot. The beds were really comfy and the tent stayed warm enough overnight even though it was a bit wet and windy. The toilet and washing facilities were lovely and really clean. We had some of the food you can get from Emma which was really tasty especially the breakfast basket. The bbq was really easy to use and we enjoyed having a wood fire on the second night. The views are incredible and it's such a nice location with lots of birds and wildlife.

Recently stopped at Ribble Valley, couldn't of asked for more, the bell tents were beautifully laid out and plenty warm enough once you got snuggled in bed. The views all around are picturesque, everywhere you look is just breathtaking. You really are nestled in the centre of beauty.
Despite being on a farm we were not disturbed by the nearby cattle, I face I didn't hear them at all! ( I've stayed on some very noisy farms in the past).
Each tent has its own BBQ/Fire but if your staying in a larger group ( we accommodated all 4 tents and the hut) there is a lovely big one you can all gather round in the centre.
The shower and toilet facilities were clean and modern and actually quite beautiful. Everything has been finished with a subtle elegance.
The shower itself was hot with good pressure.
Overall it was a great place to stay and I would definitely go back again.

Stayed for 3 nights mid week, we stayed in the buttercup tent near the toilet/shower which is so modern, well built and really clean. The tent also positioned perfectly for a beautiful view also really clean and everything we needed for 3 nights. The weather wasn't great and one evening was chilly but Emma provided a little heater. Emma was also really welcoming and had so much information about surrounding areas and where to go, she couldn't of helped anymore. Marshmallows over the fire and the breakfast where delish would definitely stay again. Xx

We had the best time once again staying at the ribble valley retreat , Emma & Peter are fantastic hosts and really make it so special. All the extra little touches really add to the experience. The Shepard's hut is incredible and so comfortable and has everything you need for your stay. The outdoor wash area is really out of this world!! A power shower outside with hot water is amazing.
Lots to do in the local area and Emma helps out with all plans you may want to make.
To make it extra special for our friends , Emma organised for us to have nibbles and drinks on the top of the farm watching over the amazing views & it really is so magical and peaceful.
This is our second time at ribble valley retreat and it’s great for families and couples.
Would definitely recommend to anyone would wants a lovely peaceful break with all the cosy amenities.
