Have been going to this hotel for lunch or dinner for many years. It is conveniently situated in Lancashire near to Preston and Clitheroe, with easy access by car and very good car parking.
The hotel has been refurbished throughout, and is very smart, and exceptionally comfortable. The staff are excellent., very friendly and welcoming, knowledgeable and efficient.

We were there for lunch very recently, 7 of us. It was a wonderful menu with a wide, but not ridiculously long, list of very interesting dishes, some that we had not experienced before, and we have eaten at great restaurants around the world.

One of the starters was a mix of very different and interesting beetroot. I am not a beetroot lover, but I chose this dish and it was superb. The other starters were also very good, as our guests all glowed with satisfaction. Mains again were superb., not a huge choice but all dishes were superbly cooked, and elegantly sat on the plate. Desserts again were wonderful, and my daughter even got some of the fabulous rice pudding to take home for her son, aged 4.

Everything was cooked to perfection, and plated with elegance and perfection. We had a superb table for the 7 of us, and service could not be faulted.

Drinks and coffee were served in one of the smaller sitting rooms, very comfortable, long views from the huge windows, beautifully decorated and quiet. The bar is well stocked, and again the barman was very efficient and pleasant.

Ladies loo was clean as a pin, with every item you need!

I have never stayed at Northcote, (only because we live near), but this experience entices me to not only eat there again, but to stay! Wherever you live, this is the place to go. Lancashire has a lot to offer and the people are exceptionally friendly.

I stayed for a few days during the first week in October 2020.

As many have remarked upon, the food is excellent.

I can also endorse the charm of the mini suites in the separate accommodation located immediately beside the hotel and restaurant. These are immaculately presented and mine had a good sized outdoor veranda overlooking the garden.

Rather than reprise the many reviews favourably commenting upon these elements I would like to underscore the quite remarkable empathy the staff demonstrate in dealing with customers. Significantly, this feature is shared by the entire team from reception through room maintenance and of course the restaurant and bar staff.

It is clear that this did not happen overnight and it is a blend of relaxed North of England friendliness and trained professionalism.

This was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience.

It’s been a while since we visited Northcote – so long in fact that an extra wing with lodge suites has been added which we decided to try out. These rooms are very spacious, well equipped, have a fabulous bathroom and a covered balcony area with nice country views. We found them very comfortable to sleep in and the quietest we’ve used in a long time. The only drawback to the lodge is the uncovered trip to the main house for dinner which on a wet January evening was a bit of a nuisance. I was also impressed with the improvements that have been in other parts of hotel, particularly the outside seating areas which must be wonderful in summer. Breakfast was very good indeed - no buffet in sight just waiter service which was of a high standard and very enjoyable. It’s great to see the very high standards that the hotel is known for are being maintained/improved and hopefully our next visit won’t be such a long gap.

It was an absolute pleasure to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary at Northcote last week. Having married in their Louis Roederer rooms in 2016, we have returned several times and every visit has been exceptional. I spent the day with Rick and Ben in the cookery school doing their ‘Let’s Bake’ course. They were a fabulous team, their teaching styles really complimented each other, I had so much fun and learnt lots. The cookery school is based in their chefs table room making it the perfect location for seeing the daily kitchen activity whilst having that important private space with your fellow ‘students’. The kitchen looked after all my baked goods until the next morning, just one of their little touches that really makes your stay special.

My husband and I stayed the night in a lodge room and had the 5 course taster menu and wine pairing. As always, Lisa’s new menu was outstanding. The bar area is very welcoming and relaxing, before and after dinner.

The whole team make your experience exceptional from beginning to end. From that first booking with Robyn, to all the team who smiled at us throughout the day and made our stay special, and to Jordan who always takes the time to stop and chat. Northcote is set in a stunning location in the Ribble Valley with very easy access from every direction. We will be back again soon, and we’ll be taking advantage of the private dining option again next year for another family celebration.

Thank you all. Your hard work, commitment and friendliness always shines through.

Went for afternoon tea as part of a birthday celebration. When we booked we clearly stated one of our party has a dairy intolerance. No problem was the response.
When we arrived we were shown to “the snug “ which is next to reception. A thoroughfare in other words.
The afternoon tea came but no sign of the dairy free option. Ginger tea came as normal breakfast tea.
When we eventually got it all sorted out the food was good.
Considering what we paid it is difficult to reconcile the 120 mile round trip and the level of service we received. A bit disappointing.

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Greeted at reception politely and staff were very prompt in confirming dinner reservation, room and guiding us to room (did offer to show us our room but we were happy to find it ourselves) room exactly as described, comfy bed and pillows. Fantastic bathroom and the amenities were very good.

Onto dinner at the Michelin star restaurant, what can you say other than simply fantastic, the wine pairings (additional charge) were brilliant and the option of 70ml or 125ml was perfect. The staff were very attentive, soon as water was nearly finished it was topped up. Special shout out to Molly she was super friendly took time to talk and gave some great advice on the cheese board. Can definitely recommend the 20yr tawny port.

Breakfast had so many options, although I was only ever going to choose the English breakfast.

A fantastic stay and well worth every penny.

We had an overnight stay plus the gourmet dinner to celebrate a significant birthday. The attention to detail to provide reassurance in these very difficult times that the hotel and room was safe certainly achieved the aim and we felt more than comfortable at all times. The staff were amazing and the food just perfect - the executive chef Lisa surpassed herself ! Would I recommend this - of course I would and if you ever get the chance to enjoy the hotel grab the opportunity. It is gem.

Came for the overnight Gourmet Break and had a lovely relaxing time. Our bedroom was complete with Chaise Longue, underfloor heating in the bathroom & a massive bay window overlooking the Lancastrian countryside.
The public areas are not exactly spacious so it makes Social Distancing a bit tricky at times, but this wasn't an issue in the Dining Room where everyone was spaced out and you had a nice private ish evening.
Food was delicious and up to what I would expect from a Michelin starred restaurant and the food arrived just with the right gap between courses where you didn't feel rushed or were left looking at your watch.
The whole experience was nearly let down by the breakfast. Although delicious took an hour and a 15mins with people getting served before us who had arrived later (we had to ask for toast three times). But I'll forgive this little set back as we came for the food and were not let down in this aspect.
There were also plenty of friendly & helpful staff so all in all a memorable stay. Obviously these places don't come cheap but worth it for that special occasion.
I even received a nice Birthday Card.

What can I say, the team at Northcote are in a league of their own. From arriving, we were made to feel very special where nothing was too much trouble. Standard of the accomdation was amazing, pure luxury with lots of lovely touches that creates such as lovely experience. The five course tasting menu was incredible, accompanied by stunning wines, which we will be trying to source. Breakfast was a lovely relaxed affair, food of a high quality and the coffee was on another level. I am particular about coffee and this was perfect. We hope to be back again very soon!

Northcote used to have a booklet of walks from the hotel. Whalley is a nice little town with some specialist shops and an abbey where you can go in the grounds and walk by the river. I think there's a small charge to go in and there is a tea room. Pendle Hill country is nice with the lovely village of Downham, and villages associated with the Pendle witches. Hope this helps.

If you go to northcote website you can see if there are tables available for the date you want to go and book directly, if you want to go on a weekend you need to book months in advance, weeknights usually 2 or 3 weeks
