Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely welcome. Great breakfast. Bathroom was modern and fresh.
The bedroom was quite dated but comfy (mattress was squeaky though) and functional.
Well positioned - 10 mins to the centre of Ashby.
We were initially only given 1 towel and a hand towel between 3 of us and only 2 mugs/water glasses. I’m sure more would have been offered had we asked.
Owners were very helpful and friendly.

After visiting an elderly relative, who watched four episodes of "Four in a Bed" while we were there, we couldn't help but cast a more than usual critical eye over the room and our stay at The Cedars! I'm pleased to report that the scores were 10/10 for warm and friendly welcome by Simon, cleanliness and comfort of room no. 3, modern bathroom with rainfall shower head, superb freshly cooked breakfast, including perfect scrambled egg, attractive spacious grounds, parking and the convenience of being able to walk to Ashby town centre. I took my own hairdryer but Simon will lend one if needed. Tip: take a small extension lead so you can dry your hair at the large desk in room.

We had a lovely warm welcome from the owner Simon. The full English breakfast was excellent. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. Simon asked if we would prefer a ground floor room which suited my husband very well. Simon also gave us lots of useful advice for places to eat in the area and told me about a fantastic furnishing fabric shop!

This is a great place to stay. We were really glad that we we had booked for two night. Simon, the host is friendly, helpful and cheerful. Our room was quiet, spacious and spotlessly clean, with en-suite shower and toilet facilities.

The ‘full English’ breakfasts were copious and delicious with plenty of choice.

The guesthouse was only a few minutes walk to the attractive small town of Ashby de la Zouch.

The Cedars is excellent value for money too!

We recommend this guesthouse heartily. We’ll definitely stay there again next time we need a half-way stop on a long journey.

Simon always looks after us and nothing is too much trouble. The place is always clean, spacious and really good value for money. Great communication, easy booking and a joy to visit. I have stayed here on numerous occasions (over the years) and it’s very well placed for Ashby town centre. The breakfasts are really good and “family style” would definitely recommend the cedars.

Should you wish to have a short break or an overnight stay in a “ place of comfort “ this is the “ place to be “. Simon is the Main Man so you are guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome. Our return is a certainty on our next trip North.

Had a 2 night stay to visit family. For £60 per night with a nice full English breakfast it was a good deal. No frills room but clean. Bright shower room with body wash and white fluffy towels provided.

Visiting the area for the first time found Cedars online. Lovely stay - cosy, comfortable rooms, warm welcome and a great breakfast. Dog friendly too. Simon is a great host and able to give advice on where to visit and eat out. Lovely surroundings. Well worth a visit and we intend going back

Friendly, clean, comfy and very nice breakfast.
We had the bottom floor room opposite the kitchen, double bed and single. Great shower, fluffy towels and plenty of space.
Stayed for 2 nights, couldn’t fault it.
*Some people may find the walk from the high street up the hill a struggle.

Lovely B&B, friendly owner, great service and a generous breakfast! Made me feel very welcome! Quiet even though they’re on the main road and many places near by to eat at and visit! Thank you very much for a lovely stay!
