First time visiting this place on the strength of so many 5* reviews, and first time taste of bison. This is the cafe under review, on the bison rearing business. Expect a basic farm building, with pictures of bison, wood burning stove, cooking some home reared meat, and home

Thank you very much for your comments, and if I may, please can I respond to these. We were already in the process of installing a larger log burner as we were aware, that on very cold days, it could be a tad cold. Pleased to say - that has been installed this afternoon. I can only apologise it was not in site for your visit. As for the toilet - I am afraid that due to space we are unable to offer inside facilities, and as the hot water has a fair way to travel - it does come through hot after a little while. Guests are always welcome to walk and view the Bison - in fact it is something which we encourage. I am afraid that during the winter months, they are housed in the barns further up the farm track. In summer months they are mostly in view in the fields opposite., I do hope this has not put you off returning to our cafe and hope that we may welcome you again soon.

Sunday morning brekky at the café. Fabulous! Lovely welcome from owner, with quick service but time to chat. Quaint/rustic dining room. Emphasis on good quality food; don't forget this is the place where they rear bison and they properly understand quality local produce.

Four of us went to the Through the Gate cafe for a full English breakfast, absolutely first class, we breakfast once a fortnight in the Melton Mowbray area, and this was without doubt one of the best. Fantastic bacon and sausages, good service, nice staff, we will return!

Had a lovely afternoon hearing about how the bison farm originated and enjoying a fabulous afternoon tea. Good selection of sandwiches, the best sausage rolls, savoury and sweet scones and superb cakes. Gluten free requirements catered too. Had a walk up the lane to see the

Hi Ruth. Thanks for getting back to me. We were looking to take our grandchildren to Twinlakes, but they've already been so ee are looking for somewhere else. It's a shame as your venue looks lovely.
