This was our first visit on a mother and daughter 2 night package. We booked a few months ago and recently noticed some TripAdvisor reviews that were less than glowing, so were a little apprehensive, however, we had a really enjoyable experience. All the staff were welcoming, friendly and happy to help at all times. Our luxury twin room had super comfy beds with a range of different pillow options if required. Breakfast in bed each morning was a welcome indulgence and whilst the array of little pots of loveliness might not suit everyone, we found it a nice change from the usual type of hotel breakfast. The food at all meals was varied, well presented and tasty with plenty of choice. Considering the numbers being catered for, this was a pleasant surprise and exceeded our expectations. Everywhere was clean and well maintained. We loved the spa facilities and range of different areas throughout for relaxing. Nowhere felt overcrowded althoigh we found late evening and early morning to be particularly quiet times. The fitness classes were good fun and well organised and our inclusive facial treatments were a nice way to finish our stay. Did we feel relaxed though? We had a great time, but were so intent upon getting the most out of our stay that we maybe didn’t relax as much as we could have, but that was our fault for not wanting to miss anything! What we probably need now is a return trip, so we can pace ourselves a bit!

We have just returned from a 2 night spa break at Ragdale Hall and I wanted to post an honest, balanced review. I have previously contributed to lifestyle blogs and after now finding myself in the position of having a long term health condition, am beginning to put together my own with a particular focus on accessibility. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and our luggage taken to our room. The team had made a note of our special occasion (wedding anniversary) and it was lovely to have this acknowledged. We had a complimentary welcome drink and then headed to our room. Room: We were in a luxury plus twin (bed made into a super king) which was decorated in an art deco style with modern finishing. It was clean, spacious and offered a nice view. It was slightly disappointing that the shower and bath washes were both empty in the bathroom. We did request more but this didn’t materialise. I also required a larger spa robe and had to wear the “too small” robe down to the spa to get another. This felt a little embarrassing as I did feel exposed. Maybe something on the booking form could be added to request a size if guests want to ahead of time. Spa: The spa is lovely with some unique features such as the candle pool, rooftop infinity pool and an exercise pool with equipment and classes. The water was warm in all pools and there was plenty of space in the main pool to have a “proper” swim. We used the rooftop pool both mornings and it wasn’t too busy. That said, the weather wasn’t the best so this may have put some people off. The 40min treatment included in our stay was a little underwhelming and the options available for this could maybe do with a review, especially given the price. That said, it was relaxing and the therapist was friendly and knowledgeable. Food: Unfortunately, this is what most definitely lets Ragdale Hall down. I absolutely appreciate the need to have reduced options for each course, especially when you are catering to large numbers and need to turn tables around relatively quickly. I have worked in hospitality at large events and it makes sense to have courses that are easy to prepare and send out. However, on the Friday night, the starter and main course were disappointing. There was a distinct lack of flavour/seasoning and the majority of my potatoes on my main course were black/bruised. The pork belly was soft and tender but the sauce lacked any depth. Saturday night fared better although my steak was more medium than medium rare, the seasoning was most definitely better. The horseradish on the starter was barely recognisable though and didn’t have that usual “punch”. The dessert sizes are just right for finishing off the meal, but (you guessed it) lacked any real flavour, although presented nicely. Sunday lunch was “buffet” style that was akin to school lunches. The houmous to start really wasn’t good. No hint of garlic, lemon juice etc and the salad leaves were black in places. The roast beef was dry and the vegetables were exceedingly over cooked. The cabbage and peas had lost a lot of their vibrancy. The gravy and roast potatoes were nice though. The dessert selection was average. The chocolate mousse was nice but was paired with a jelly base layer that was unnecessary and more like semi solidified water. We ate in the Veranda bar on Saturday lunchtime and this was actually a much better option. I would have happily had dinner in there instead but we were told our weekend “deal” meant we had to eat in the dining room. The Twilight bar had some great non alcoholic options and the bartender was happy to dabble in making up different things depending on guest preference. The option of having breakfast in the room was great, and there certainly were a lot of options. However, hot dishes did not arrive hot and the meat/cheese selection was tiny. I would rather be able to choose one or two things at a decent size, than a whole plethora of smaller options. That’s just my personal preference though as I’m not a huge breakfast fan and often just prefer one thing. The staff are friendly and attentive in all areas, they really are a credit to Ragdale. We would consider returning, but given the cost for 2 nights was in excess of £1500, the food really does need to be improved upon and the inclusive treatments looked at as well.

I am a massive fan of Ragdale, I have returned so many times as I truly believe that it is the best spa in the UK. It is with great sadness that I write this review. Myself and my friend went on a late escape yesterday. On arrival I circled the carpark several times and there were no suitable car parking spaces! I counted that five cars had taken up two spaces and ending up squeezing my car into a ridiculously tight spot where a car had gone over the line!! I have never known this before Ragdale. Please consider getting a carpark attendant to oversee the parking situation. Immediately I felt stressed….this was supposed to be a relaxing day! On arrival I received a warm welcome and put the carpark situation aside. My friend and I were given a white locker band and were told we could use any changing room but this proved difficult to find ourselves 2 large lockers!!! We did eventually but not near each other!! We got changed and went up to the gorgeous infinity pool but it was packed!! We turned and went to the jacuzzi also full!!! Every steam room door we opened was completely jammed full of people!! What’s going on Ragdale??? I hope you aren’t over subscribing and compromising on people’s relaxation. We left the spa area disappointed. We spoke to a member of staff who told us it would die down around 12. It didn’t. If I wanted this sort of experience I would choose a cheaper spa. The experience reminded me of Whittlebury Hall NOT Ragdale Hall. There were too many people and sadly the experience was not what my friend and I expected or have ever experienced before. Luckily the buffet, treatment and meal in the Verranda bar were spot on. Please Ragdale don’t ruin your Spa by over subscribing. I hope you return back to your former glory ASAP or you will sadly lose your excellent reputation.

To read this post from a regular visitor to the Hall is very disappointing. With reference to capacity we continue to control the number of residents and day guests in the same fashion as we have for many years (with the exception of after the Covid lockdown when the number of guests were lower). I can only surmise that the more country club members attended on the date, and this possibly considered with members being free during the Easter holidays. I am sorry you did not enjoy the day as you have previously.

Fantastic, as always. Food, treatments, service and experience were all amazing. Checked in so quickly with a complimentary hot drink, given our order sheet for the day and locker wristbands. Special mention to Darren and Jacqui in the Main Dining Room, they were so friendly and helpful.

It has took me a while to write this, as I would not like to leave a negative to a place that has such lovely memories, however there were some issues with my stay in November 2023. I have visited Ragdale since 1991 and have seen a lot of fantastic changes throughout those years. I remember the only pool at the time was the now converted exercise pool and the introduction of the thermal spa was awesome. My special place is the candle pool, which you just step down into and float to a pod and just relax to the lovely music. The infinity pool gets busy at times, but that is to be expected considering you are laying around in a heated pool looking across at a vast expanse of countryside goodness. My drawback on my 50th birthday treat was the whole "buy an extra night" offer.... I was in my room reading, when someone (didnt knock) burst in with dressing gowns to put in the wardrobe. The reception staff were not 100% on telling me when/where I was supposed to move to for the extra night, and to make matters worse, on my arrival home I checked my bank account and the new people who had moved into my room ordered wine and aperitifs and those were charged to MY bank account. This was of course refunded, but its not very professional to be frank. However, I would like to add that the therapists were superb and so very lovely. I treat myself to a coconut floatation and was a little nervous, but my goodness how relaxing it was. The food here is sublime, always has been. Cannot believe its been 33 years of visiting here... makes me sound old, but you always feel that little bit younger after staying here.. and a lot refreshed. Thank you.

Just got back from a twilight spa session. First timers here and very impressed. Such friendly staff especially John on the main desk so welcoming. The spa itself was immaculate and the rooms were lovely. The meal was very nice. Only gripes were the water could have been water in the pools and potentially some lemon/flavoured waters in the spa area. Other than that I would say visit was perfect and will for sure return.

Worse spa I’ve ever been to. No snooze room / quint room with beds to relax and chill out unless you want to lay on one of their many sofas which are very small and uncomfortable Loungers around the pool do not adjust so you have to sit upright and if you can find one without someone’s towel draped over it you would be lucky. Spa itself is extremely underwhelming a few steam rooms with some herbs. The “treatment” that was included with our booking was a complete joke and a waste of my time. Food is absolutely disgusting which makes the extremely small portion size acceptable, staff are not friendly and actually quite rude. If you are looking for a luxury spa break go to Hoar Cross Hall.

It is disappointing to read your post. We clearly did not meet your expectations and that is most regrettable. I would state that our thermal spa has 12 heat and water experiences and generally the feedback I receive on the team is overwhelmingly positive with regards to their levels of friendliness.

THE best spa break ever! From the moment my daughter and I arrived we were cocooned into a world of relaxation, amazing food and a different lifestyle. We were met by a lovely porter who took our bags to our room and then were given a complimentary hot drink as were booked in. We were a,s upgraded in our room free of charge. The bedrooms are light and airy, lots of lovely facilities including fresh bottled milk in the fridge and also an automatic low level light that clicks on at night to help you find your way to the toilet. The classes were brilliant, excellent spin studio and music, and candlelight stretch with immersive headphones so no wonder there is a waiting list of years to join the gym here here if you are a local as it is so good. The thermal spa has several rooms to chill in and the lazy river and the candle light pool is awesome! The buffet lunch is the best we have ever had sooo much choice and so delicious. The evening meals are amazing and the best part is you can chill in your robes or sportswear or lounge wear for all meals. This is a truly amazing place, a total chill out retreat. The staff are so friendly and smile everywhere at you and so polite. We also had treatments as well which were lovely. We will definitely be returning as this is the best spa we have ever visited and we visit a lot! It’s been brilliant!!

Probably the best spa you will ever go to. The thermal spa and pool areas are amazing. The cafe and bars are all amazing too. The restaurant meals are top class, not forgetting breakfast served to you in bed!!! But what makes it such a special place are the staff. They are so friendly and welcoming nothing is too much trouble. You are made to feel like you are the most important person in the world! Go on book it, you will not be disappointed.
