After being disappointed that another local pub couldn't be bothered to open we found the Star in the lovely village of Thrussington. Everything about our experience was great. Really friendly welcome - fantastic bar man, lovely beer (Tim Taylor's Landlord) and superb food. I had the local sausages and mash (brilliant) and my wife had a first class salad. Reasonable...

Celebrated end of work for the holidays with friends and enjoyed a super menu, well cooked and with excellent service. Not the cheapest place around, but if you want something a bit better than the average then this is a great place to choose.

We were looking for a suitable gastro pub style place near Leicester for a weekend break. This was a lovely, lively pub in a typical English village setting, right on the green. We have a very basic, clean comfy double room above the Inn but were not bothered by live music in the bar. We enjoyed the pub and the...

Dear Tim We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us at the Star Inn, were very proud of our rooms for which we have recently received a silver award from 'Visit England' to add to our English Tourist Board four Star Inn status. We do occasionally put on an acoustic musician on Saturday nights, it's not too loud and...

I had an early evening meal with my husband and elderly mother. On booking we explained that my mother wasn't very mobile and they gave us a very accessible table. The food was very good, the ambience was lovely (warm and cosily -lit) - it was everything you'd want in a restaurant based in an old English pub.

We have eaten here once a month for the last couple of years. It is our monthly treat. The food is fantastic. Menu changes regularly as they use seasonal ingredients. Staff are friendly and helpful. The pub itself is beautiful - olde worlde but with a modern twist. Definitely somewhere I would recommend. Looking forward to our Xmas meal there

It seems that nearly every time we go to the Star there is some sort of a problem, either with the booking or with the seating arrangements. The table had been booked weeks in advance and when we arrived we stood at the bar until our table was ready. The manager / owner came over to us to ask the...

Hi Dave Thank you for reviewing the Star Inn, I'm so pleased you enjoyed the food and service, regarding the booking issues, my goodness! it does sound very much like you are referring to Robert the manager, as you have him to a tee! He does try very hard to please but please forgive his occasional apparent confusion as you'll...

What a lovely experience we had as a group of work colleagues! The choices, and the quality of the food, are excellent and varied. The meals were beautifully cooked and presented. The oldest part of the Inn is dated from 1744, hence the name. Nice decor, fairly traditional, spotlessly clean. I recommend the Star to anyone visiting the area. The...

A truly lovely venue, food was hot and nicely served, good quality drinks, polite serving staff, only downside the service was a little slow but we were not in a rush as we were having a good family catch-up.

Hi Helen. It's always good to hear that our guests had a great stay with us at the Star Inn. In fact we often get overflow guests from Ragdale Hall staying with us as we're just a few mile away from Ragdale. I suspect the reason for this is that sometimes the idea of a juicy steak at the Star...
