Wood View is one of Austwick’s oldest farmhouses (circa 1700), being an elegant Grade II listed building situated on the village green. Containing many original features such as open fires and beams, it is the home of Sue and David Dewhirst, who provide a high standard of accommodation for discerning visitors to the area. The village of Austwick nestles in a valley with a backdrop of magnificent limestone scenery in the Three Peaks area of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is the ideal base for exploring this area of outstanding natural beauty by car, cycle or on foot, or as a stopping off point en route to the Lake District.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I have just returned home from visiting Sue and David at Wood View for the first time. We were recommended staying and were certainly not disappointed during our three night's stay. Their hospitality was exceptional. Our room, with an ensuite shower room was immaculate. It was a family room with a very comfortable bed ensuring an excellent night's sleep. Breakfasts provided in their lovely dining room were beautifully cooked and included toast made with their home made bread baked almost daily. Their local knowledge of the area for walks or where to eat was indispensable. We are already looking forward to a return to stay with them at what is now on our very short list of favourite places to stay in the Yorkshire Dales.

Just had a brilliant 3 night stay here, walking with friends. Everything was just perfect. Lovely hosts, superb breakfasts and packed lunches, very comfortable rooms, they even organised wall to wall sunshine for us! Thanks Sue and David. We would love to come back.

after a recomendation i stayed here last week. From the wellcoming tea and scone on arrival to the home made bread for toast and an excellent traditional breakfast everything was five star. David and Sue really do go above and beyond to ensure your visit to the Dales will be memorable. Top of my list for future stays.

In our tenth year of staying with Sue and Dave the welcome and service received has never been less than excellent. They have become as much friends as hosts over the years. Not only do they cater for all of our needs but also recommend walking options which meet our capabilities.

Woodview is excellent, the hosts could not be friendlier. The choice & quality at breakfast is perfect. Accommodation is comfortable and really clean. On arrival you are greeted with homemade scones and roaring fire. And all set in beautiful surroundings!

David & Sue were excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome into their lovely B & B. Being an old property there were a few low ceilings and beams which added to its charm and character. Our room on the second floor was large and clean with lots of storage and a great view. There was an excellent choice for breakfast which was delicious. The bread was freshly baked each morning. We had a lovely weekend plus the sun was shining and we returned home feeling very relaxed from our stay at Wood View.

David and Sue are just as welcoming now they have reopened. The welcome (tea/coffee and homemade cake /scones) still first class as are the rooms. A good choice of items for a hearty breakfast at a time to suit will set off the day.We have stayed here many times and reviewed before , the best thing we can say is nothing has changed and we will be back again. GREAT. Not classic or quirkey but homely

Just returned from a wonderful weekend away at Woodview. David & Sue were very welcoming and made our stay with fabulous breakfasts together with cakes and tea after a 12 mile walk up Ingleborough. They were very relaxed and and allowed our group (who booked out the B&B) to take over the cosy lounge on the Friday night. Set in a beautiful village the Game Cock pub next door is also worth a visit.

David was very responsive to our emails, arranged for transport to and from train station in Settle, mapped out a couple of 8-hour hikes and was a joy to talk with. Sue, a former cookery teacher, prepared delicious and filling breakfasts. Really great people. Eddie says five stars!

We were walking the Pennine Way, Wood View was the perfect place to take a break. David and Sue went above and beyond the services of a normal BnB. We were welcomed into their home with a warm fire and bright smiles. The rooms were well furnished, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was well proportioned and tasty. Sue provided us a packed lunch, which was delicious and hearty, containing Sue's homemade flapjack which was by far the best we had on the entire trail.
