Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Made to feel very welcome on every visit. The staff are great friendly & outgoing. Nothing is ever too much trouble. From the moment you walk through the door to leaving it's a lovely relaxing stay. Rooms are lovely & comfortable with everything you need. The food is lovely as well, very plentiful & reasonably priced. We love visiting the Aysgarth. And we can't wait to visit again soon. Keep up the good work we would not stay anywhere else The manager Dean was very accommodating. He gave us options to choose from the menu and wines and served us well too. The food was excellent.

Went to Palmer's Restaurant for Sunday lunch. This was an early Christmas lunch with friends. Food and service were excellent. Too early for Christmas menu but our dessert came decorated with holly! Staff very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely go again when visiting the area.

Just a great place to stay. Friendly attentive staff, excellent food with a great variety of choices on the menu using lots of local produce. The Aysgarth room we stayed was lovely and clean and looked recently refurbished with all modern technology, even had a wireless phone charger. The bathroom was large and bright and well stocked with Noble Isle bathroom toiletries which my wife loved. Best of all though was the local produce inspired full English breakfast, we will definitely be returning.

Difficult to get anyone’s attention to check in. Hotel looks nice inside , nice decor in bar, lounge and restaurant areas. We were soaking wet so the friendly chap offered to put our stuff in the ‘drying room’ which was great, and he showed us around our room. Room was a bit small, and it was freezing, I mean teeth chatteringly cold , and I’m usually a warm person. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was lovely but did not heat the rest of the room. I must add the shower was great and very powerful. However, I almost fell off the toilet because the seat was loose. I thought I’d make a brew to warm myself up and found both cups to be used and dirty. Room was also leaking in, wet wall. Also, one beside lamp was not working. Asked the manager if she could sort the heating out as the radiator did not seem to be working , this was not fixed but she did give us a small heater , which oddly she put in my partners hand while at the table in the restaurant 😂. Food was not to my taste but I guess that’s just personal preference. It was well presented and restaurant service was good. Drinks were nice. In the lounge after our meal, every member of staff that walked through was looking at their watch , probably wanted to get off duty but it made me feel a bit rushed to get out. Breakfast was a bit chaotic , one person trying to do it all. Water ran out on coffee machine , juices ran out. Lady forgot my pot of tea, asked for it and was brought 2 pots 🤷‍♀️Items missing from the breakfast plate (hash brown , tomato , black pudding) which we saw on other peoples plates after we got ours. And partners eggs cooked wrong. I know I seem like I’m being picky but I was paying a lot of money for my partners birthday and I’m getting fed up of poor service for the price I pay. Left the next day when I got someone’s attention to check out , stuff from the drying room seemed to be wetter than when it went in the day before.

Clean, comfortable room with huge bed, lots of comfy pillows and cushions and a toasty duvet. Nice to have a small sofa and table in the room too. The bathroom was fantastic especially the state of the art mirror. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good range of options for breakfast and the Sunday roast was really delicious. Relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Very close to the Aysgarth Falls which are a must see.

The hotel has been modernised recently and in most ways this is good. Sadly there was no heating available on the top floor of the hotel and although asking for a heater one never turned up. It was 2C outside and the partially double glazed windows weren’t up to keeping the cold out. Dinner was ok. No more than that. 30 mins between starter and mains is too long especially when both the bar and restaurant are quiet. Breakfast was a mess. You had to pick the missing items of cutlery, cups and glasses from elsewhere and you had to make your own toast and coffee. I’d have no problem with if I was in a Premier Inn but this is a 4* hotel. Tables all around were left uncleared and again the restaurant only had 3 full tables. The views are fantastic and I the staff we spoke to very nice and chatty. I wish the hotel well but there is work still to do and like other people have suggested maybe get a few more people to work there although I appreciate recruiting in the middle of nowhere will be very difficult.

We stopped for lunch after a morning out and when we arrived my husband and I sat down at a table. A man from behind the bar came to the table for what we assumed would be to see if we wanted drinks or food. However he had in fact come over to derate us for having sat down with out being seated by himself. Completely embarrassing! There are no signs indicating the establishments seating arrangements as if they were we would have followed them. We will sadly not be returning.

We stayed in a Motorhome in the rear of the hotel £60 per night for basically an extension lead in a field Facilities in a garden shed 😳 No lighting in the field. Apologies Camping site No hot water in the shower shed 🤷‍♂️ Unless you are fully capable of Using your own facilities don’t use this site The area is of course perfect for Walking and exploring The bar and restaurant is also very Good I think they have forgotten about the campers and just take the dollar It’s also a dangerous walk back from the bar to your pitch in the dark with no lights past the pub
