Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wonderful experience. Don't be turned away - get a reservation! 1-1.5 hour experience. Gift shop downstairs sells tea, cookies, gift baskets and other goodies. When we visited the line to get in was about 30 people long. Side door is for reservations, so no waiting.

My partner and I were on a motorcycle trip around North Yorks & The Lakes and we can across this little gem. The chap who served us was so friendly and helpful! I had the Giant Yorkshire Tea Cake, which is three large pieces of Tea Cake and Jam. Coffee is nice, good quality and plenty of it. The Wife had a Sandwich, which was very well prepared and tasted "lovely". It is in an amazing spot, and I am so glad we stopped off, we will certainly be using this place as our Long-Rideout lunch stop. Actually, we are off up next weekend just to stop off here and head back home. If you are ever in the area, please do yourself a favour and stop off here.

We stopped for a coffee and spot of lunch. We had their version of a Ploughman’s lunch with excellent warm bread, two types of cheese, fresh colourful salad and very tasty chutney. We opted for added ham. Just as we thought our coffee didn’t last for the whole meal they offered us a top up which was very gratefully received. We ate in their beautiful garden with some new garden furniture.

We stopped here en route from the Lakes to York and enjoyed delicious Rhubarb and custard crumble pie and ice-cream late on a Sunday afternoon. Lots of books for sale too. Owner was friendly and chatty.

So glad we stopped here rather than going straight to the falls. We had a lovely lunch sat out in the garden, the lunches were beautiful. Good vegetarian and gluten free options. We had pudding too, the apple pie was delicious. The service was great, very attentive even though we were sat outside. We’ll be back!

What can I say, this little out of the way place is perfect. We stopped here enroute to Hawes and I am glad that we did. We only stopped for a quick coffee but ended up having a slice of Bakewell Tarte which was devine. Please stop and support this beautiful village tea room, better still go out of your way, you won't be disappointed.

This was the second time I have stayed here. Both on the penultimate day of the Herriot’s Way Walk (we started and finished in Hawes). As an experienced long distance walker, I have yet to find a B&B better than this. Steve, the owner was really helpful. Bags already in our room when we arrived, cold drinks and warm scones in the attached tea garden and an evening meal booked for us at the pub across the road. Couldn’t be better! Out room was excellent, plenty of space and a beautiful en suite shower room.

Called for a cup of tea following a walk. Good service in comfortable and well furnished surroundings. Tasty cakes and other food. On main road in the dale, well signed and with relatively easy parking.

Found this little gem on a grey, damp afternoon and what a delightful place to spend a while. The proprietor, Steve, has a brilliant sense of humour, obvious immediately, and the standard can be judged by the fact that when we visited the other eight customers were all locals - a sure sign of somewhere good. Only a short stop, but the soup - leek & potato that day - was delicious, served with a lovely chunk of bread. Definitely a good place to visit after a walk to the Aysgarth Falls and in need of refreshment.

Called for lunch at this restaurant on the way to Hawes. Very friendly service. Opted for the Ploughmans platter, very well presented, salad, cheese and ham with sauces and ample bread. Pot of tea for two and we had numerous cups from it. Very enjoyable, and good value. Would go again if we were ever in the area.
