If you like dogs, this bar is fine. We prefer to enjoy our drinks in a pleasant atmosphere, unaccompanied by dogs. Today when we called in for a lunchtime pint and food there were eight large dogs in the bar area which meant that we immediately turned around and left without ordering. The weather at the moment is damp and unfortunately dogs smell, especially when wet. We appreciate that others like to keep dogs as pets and would suggest that in order to gain custom from everyone, a room for people with dogs should be available, so that the rest of us can also enjoy the pub. Respectfully, we would suggest that dog owners become de-sensitised to the smell of their pets which is certainly not something we want to experience whilst eating and drinking.

My wife and i visiting Hawes decided to have a drink in this rugged looking mine shaft, greeted by a young prospector rubbing his hands as he showed us to our table i ordered a pint of Old Peculiar and the wife had half a Heineken lager, we were contemplating food until a Bandito arrived with his six gun contactless payment machine and liberated us of £8.40, £5 for the pint so i will let you do the math for the half., i looked around the bar but Gloria Hunniford was no where to be seen so we decided time to leave.

Would never return. The staff communication skills not very good. Asked for large diet Coke or Pepsi. Replied which bitter would you like. When repeated a few times walked off. Didn't have chance to order my partner a drink. When cola arrived. Ordered my partner a drink. I requested desert menu. Replied she does menu. Asked the other staff member for desert menu. We don't have one. But I can tell you what we have. Asked where my partner's drink was she replied with comments didn't understand. Never received the drink request. Food orders didn't go smoothly. Item on bill didn't order. Food was very nice. Must have a excellent chef. Let down by awful table service.
