We've loved our stay. The landlady and her staff are so lovely. The views from our room were excellent and the breakfast and bar food is excellent. A few little niggles but I can't down grade we enjoyed it so much. The heating made it so cosy too it was on all day something you don't get nowadays.

Excellent Sunday lunch! We ate here on a rainy Sunday after a walk and it was amazing. £12 for a Sunday dinner - we had beef and there were three big slices plus lots of veg, a nice home cooked yorkshire pudding and bonus for us.. mash on a Sunday dinner! The service was great too. We’ve been here loads of times and they’re always so friendly. Good value drinks in an amazing location. 10/10 highly recommend and we will be back next time we’re in Hawes!

Booked a table for Sunday lunch on the recommendation of my sister who had recently visited and was not disappointed. I had the beef and my wife had the lamb and both were very nice indeed. All the staff were very friendly and polite and we will definitely be returning on our next trip to the Dales.

We stayed at The Fountain Hotel in Hawes for 2 nights as a couple. I'll start with a positive, we had a Sunday roast & evening meal on the Monday, we could not fault the food, very tasty, well presented & very good size. Our room & breakfasts were another story. The hotel & room is very dated and screams unloved. The wallpaper was hanging off the walls, the dust in the room was an inch thick. The complimentary tea/coffee station was a joke, only brown sugar & 1 pack of 2 biscuits, the kettle just didn’t switch off unless you switched it off yourself. The bedroom furniture was all chipped. Our double bed was a divan, one side which was collapsed!! I would have asked to change room if I hadn’t noticed a sign saying unbelievably “no vacancies”!? Carpets we dirty throughout the place. Breakfast was awful, there was wasps flying around the dining room, I ordered bacon, mushrooms & toast to make myself a sandwich, bacon was still grunting & had been done in a microwave & toast was burnt black! I referred to that stay as a prison. We had to pay for it on leaving & it’s the most I’ve ever begrudge handing over my hard earned money, we’ve stayed at 4 B&B these last 8 days. I feel confident writing this very sad review saying The fountain does compete on any level & it’s truly the worst place we’ve ever stayed. All I will say about the staff is I think I’d be that miserable too if I worked there…

Nice pub/hotel in the certain of Hawes. Booking in was no problem. Room was a nice size with a lovely view.( We had room 5, and the view is great) All staff were friendly and a nice selection of ales and beers in the pub. Food was excellent with generous portions. Car park is at rear of hotel and SUVs etc may find it a tight fit to get to. I would definitely stay here again.

Five of us decided to have a cycling trip to Hawes. We stayed at the Fountain which we found to be very welcoming. The locals in the public bar were so friendly and accepted us Yorkshire cyclists with open arms. Great choice for breakfast which was just the ticket to set us off on our cycle back to Leeds. Great hotel would recommend. Bikes happily locked away for us.

This was one of the loveliest welcomes ever, the bar lady was really upbeat and cheerful, she made us feel like old friends and regulars . The food was fantastic, very large portions, they were so large , the next day I opted for a small plate and that was filling! We returned for Sunday lunch and that was spot on , lovely tender beef with all the trimmings. Mmmmmm :)

We visited the hotel for a friends 70th birthday weekend, with a plan to walk some more of the Pennine way. Great location in the centre of Hawes, rear car park access is challenging but much more secure than street parking. The staff were great, very friendly service, clean rooms and great shower after a hot days walking in the mountains. Breakfast was brilliant and set you up for the day.

Whilst walking the Pennine way , Having been turned away from quite a few other places local .We took a chance and just called in looking for accommodation for the evening, ( with hindsight booking over the phone would have been the sensible thing to do beforehand). The landlady couldn't have been more accommodating or welcoming. Evening meal was fantastic, and as we were leaving first light and wouldn't be there for breakfast, She had arranged a carry out morning meal for us . Didn't get chance to thank her or the staff so hope she reads this ,, Thank you

Stayed here for one night with my hubby and our dog. 1. Car park, round the back of the hotel and barely fit our Q5 through the gap, had to fold in the wing mirrors! Anything bigger and I wouldn’t attempt ! 2. We stayed in room 10. Small but clean and the massive bath was fab! TV, tea coffee making tackle, spotless towels and bed linen. ( There was also a hairdryer). A few short flights of stairs to get there too. 3. Sat in the pub area all evening, lovely open fire and lots of tables. Got very busy as the rugby was on but added to the atmosphere. There is a dining room at the back but it was cold in there so we ate in the bar area, I had scampi and hubby had a burger. Excellent food and efficient service. 4. Slept well, comfy bed and nice and warm. No noise from downstairs at all. 5. Breakfast was excellent. You fill in your choices the day before and when you enter the breakfast room your table is allocated with your room number on it. English breakfast was delish, eggs poached to perfection and lots of coffee and toast. We will definitely stay here again, friendly Yorkshire pub with polite efficient staff who are happy to help.…
