A beautiful quintessential Yorkshire hotel, full or character and great food. Nestled into the hills above Hawes with stunning scenery. We had a four poster bed, so high I needed a bunk up to get into it, but it was so comfortable. Generous hearty breakfast with ample choice of cereals yoghurts and fruit. Evening dinner had great choice to suit all pallets. Sitting in the garden in an evening with a chilled bottle or two was just what we needed in the heat. Definitely will be back here soon, highly recommend.
Lovely looking hotel set in stunning landscapes. The staff were great & tried their best to please. Room (27) was nice, but shared an entrance with other rooms & if you're a light sleep you certainly hear other people coming & going. Floorboards creaking was the main cause of disturbed sleep though. Breakfast was very n8ce with a decent selection available. The evening meal was nice enough, But overpriced for the overall quality. Probably worthy of 3.5 or 4 out of 5, But I marked a 3 due to having no shelf in the shower & having to step out to switch from shampoo to shower gel. Also at the top of the wall were dark spots which looked like black mould (but it may not have been.
This hotel is in a wonderful peaceful location, just across the fields from Hawes. The views are amazing and the welcome from the staff is second to none. We have never been made to feel so welcome anywhere else in the world. The friendliness that exudes from every single member of staff gives you a sense that people really enjoy working here, which made our experience so wonderful. Nothing was too much. The hotel itself is beautiful inside and out. The sitting areas downstairs and the restaurant are really comfortable and there is a great range of drinks at reasonable prices. The food was wonderful too. Breakfast was consistently good, with a good range of choice and excellent service. We ate dinner there on the first night and whilst there aren’t many choices on the menu the food was wonderful. We would love to stay there again and would recommend it.…
We recently stayed at this wonderful hotel in one of the garden rooms.Very clean and plenty of room with the conservatory. The grounds are well maintained and it is a beautiful old building. The staff are wonderful and so helpful and the food was gorgeous. We can’t wait to visit again.Thankyou for making my birthday so memorable.Vicki and Justin Barnes
We booked a table of six for our first night staying at the Shepherds Cottage down the road and had a perfect evening dinning in the hotels restaurant. Each course was presented beautifully and tasted exquisite followed by a cheese board to finish. The waitress was extremely attentive and recognised members of our family after having regular holidays in Hawes and frequenting the Stone House during their stay. We were pleased to see that Gluten Free options were not a problem and still had a variety to choose from on the menu. Thank you for a lovely evening and we shall see you again next year!
A really enjoyable stay at this charming hotel, with lovely gardens and in a beautiful location. Staff were very friendly, helpful and professional. Short distance from the lovely market town of Hawes. We would thoroughly recommend it !
The hotel is 0.8 miles out of Hawes and well signposted at the last junction. This is a first rate hotel with very friendly staff who went out of their way to help. We were in room 6 - a twin room overlooking part of the hotel gardens and green fields with sheep and lambs. The bathroom had a walk in shower and everything was spotless. Lovely hand and shower wash. One excellent feature in the bathroom was a lighted mirror which could serve as a soft night light to get to the bathroom in the night - a great safety idea. Tea and coffee and a kettle provided in the room with instructions to get fresh milk from a tiny fridge on the same landing, an excellent alternative to fiddly little milk cartons supplied in most hotels. The dinner was excellent and so well presented. Several choices for each course. Breakfast excellent too - again well presented and a wide ranging menu. Serving staff were very efficient - no delay in waiting for food to arrive. Good car parking facilities plus an electric point for charging all electric cars. Our stay was for one night only as a birthday treat - the staff picked up on this and a birthday message was on our table at breakfast time. Highly recommended hotel - hoping to return later this year. This is a beautiful part of Yorkshire with a hotel and staff to match.…
The location is amazing looking down over the river valley to Hawes, an easy walk away across fields. We had a courtyard room in the Old Coach House. Very spacious with every comfort provided. The garden provided a relaxing place to rest after a day's walking. The food was delicious offering very generous portions with a good varied menu and very reasonable wine list. The staff were wonderful. They gave the impression that they honestly enjoyed their work and were pleasant, cheerful and friendly at all times.
Absolutely Superb We stayed one night, what a beautiful 1911 stone building, wonderful furnishings and antique items, oak-panelled sitting room, excellent helpful staff, wonderful breakfast and all very well organised. Stunning location and gardens. Pleasant walk into Hawes. Will be back, hopefully.
Lovely hotel in a stunning location. We stayed here for the whisky tasting package for my husband’s birthday. It was a great experience all round. Food was excellent. The whisky tasting was brilliant, the host was informative but not too much so and we tried plenty! Our room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. We also really enjoyed spending time in the library with pool table. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
