We had a two night stay here for my birthday. I really can’t fault the hotel or the staff. They were all really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. My wife had mentioned it was a birthday trip so the staff left us a little bottle of fizz in the room. The food was excellent with a different daily menu. There are plenty of good walks in the area and some stunning waterfalls to visit. Hawes and Hardraw are both within walking distance. Highly recommend.

Just returned from a 3 night stay in this lovely countryside hotel. The hotel is full of excellent period features and is full of character and charm. It’s location is superb close to Hawes village and has great views. The staff are all friendly, helpful and attentive to your needs. The choice of breakfast is great and everything is of the highest quality and has won awards. Dinner choice is great and is tasty and well presented. The menu changes daily. We stayed in a ground floor garden room which was very comfortable and it also had it’s own private conservatory which opened into the gardens (10). It was an excellent room as we had our small dog with us. The room also has a walk-in shower. We would definitely recommend this hotel and will be returning. Thanks for an excellent stay.

We are just back from a weekend at the Stone House Hotel and were very impressed with the whole package. The building is a lovely old property, with oak panelled rooms and log fires. The food was of a very high quality, with a menu that changes daily. However what stood out was the quality of service from the staff - not forced but relaxed and friendly. We very rarely return to the same accommodation but will certainly be back here.

Stayed here for 1 night in room 5. All we can say it has the wow factor on overdrive. We had dinner in the hotel and it really was delicious. The hotel oozes character, very cosy lounges and a library too. It reminded me of an Enid Blyton book. FIVE GO TO SMUGGLERS TOP we really enjoyed our stay, big thanks to the really helpful staff and the chef for the Venison Casserole, Mrs K T is a veggie and she had the baked Cod and really rated it too. Its not a budget hotel but honestly worth every penny. Not been to the Dales before, we'll definitely be back Only suggestion would be a grab handle by the bath.

Thanks for taking the time to review your recent stay with us and award top marks. Pleased to read your comments about the food and Mrs K T enjoyed the fish. We are sure Enid Blyton could have drawn inspiration for her books sitting by the fire in the Oak Room with lashings of Ginger Beer and homemade scones at the ready! We do have portable grab handles available on request if you need them on your return visit which we hope will be very soon!
