Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We ordered a bacon an cheeseburger an chips, and a sunday lunch with turkey the food was exceptionaly good value for money, large portions, nice home cooked food would highly recommend and will definatly visit again. Wasn't waiting long for the food when we ordered it.. And they even gave us disposable cutlery and napkins as it was a takeaway service. Thank you !⁸

I stayed here for two nights in July to meet with friends staying at a local holiday village.

The White Swan was fine as a base, it was basic, but the bed was comfy and room functional.

My friends joined me on the first evening for dinner, we sat in the rather old fashioned dining room, but the service was friendly and the food was traditional, nicely cooked, good value for money and generous portions sizes too.

Just had 4 nights here sadly I have to say we were disappointed. I admire people who try but sometimes it doesn’t work. The accommodation was really quite poor, really in need of a total revamp.very small room, smaller “bathroom “ with sink too small to wash in, very small shower cubicle.
Very shabby cabinets, & decor in general. We couldn’t fill the kettle from the tiny bathroom sink, having to fill from cups , I know, but it’s really not £75 per night hotel I’m afraid.
The pub/ restaurant was very busy but dreadfully under-staffed, having one person pulling pints & taking food orders & serving , consequently quite long waiting times, however the food was SUPERB & plenty of it !! Breakfast was very good, with a good choice.
To sum up, good place to eat if your in the area, but I’d look elsewhere for accommodation. Sorry we couldn’t be more positive…

My son and I stayed at this quaint pub in the village for one night. We were greeted on arrival and we stayed in the Whitby room which consists of two twin beds and a shower, toilet and sink ( the sink was in the bedroom ). The beds were really comfortable and tea/coffee and biscuits provided in the room and we looked out onto the rear car park.

The car park is of good size and we had no issues parking, there is a rear entrance to the pub from the car park so not a long walk.

We had breakfast included, which was a lovely surprise too and the food was tasty.

The village is about a 20 minute drive from Scarborough and is easily accessible.

Overall a nice little place and I would return here if we were in the area.

I have had to award one star to submit this review it deserves nothing as we couldn’t sample the food!!
We booked for an evening meal here yesterday for 7pm. Admittedly we were a little early and were greeted with ‘you’re too early your table isn’t ready,’ my husband said ‘no worries we’ll just have a drink.’ The man who seemed to be in charge said he’d find us when our table was ready. We waited and waited, had a second drink and waited... an hour later we decided to leave as we’d also noticed how long it was taking for meals to be served from ordering at that rate we’d still be eating at midnight!!
What was upsetting was there was no communication about delays, no acknowledgement of our presence. Just a totally unprofessional set up.

A great village pub with good value home made food and big portions and a good selection of beers and well chilled wines. The guys there are really friendly and look after you well. Car park at rear is useful. We will definitely be back.

Six of us went for evening meal and because one of our party had a dog we were shown upstairs.

It wasn’t a problem.

Staff attentive but allowed time and space.

Starter of baked Brie large enough for two to share.
The normal mixed grill was massive so the mega mixed grill would pose a challenge for anyone.
Lasagne, hunter’s chicken and spaghetti all tasty, big portions all nicely served.

Well worth a visit.
We will be returning to try the highly recommended Sunday lunch,

We had a meal here and omg it was a meal. My husband had the sirloin steak cooked perfectly it was thick and tender I had the chicken. You won't know the colour of the plates because you can not see the plates for the layers of food. We couldn't eat it all and my husband is a six foot built like a bull builder. The pub is a traditional old village pub and very friendly. Pity we didn't find it sooner in our holiday we would have gone back again.

While on holiday near Filey four of us had a meal at The White Swan. The staff were welcoming, the pub was cosy
and the food was plentiful, beautifully cooked and VERY reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this pub.

Staying in a nearby caravan park and booked Sunday lunch. We took our 2 labradoodle dogs and offered to sit outside but the landlady said they were were welcome inside. The meal was lovely. We went to the servery and there was a choice of 4 meats. We were given a huge helping of meat, a Yorkshire and roast potatoes on a plate then helped ourselves to the mash, good selection of veg and gravy. It was all hot and very good with a home cooked flavour. And believe it or not, was only £7 each. We’ve paid a lot more for a less tasty Sunday lunch.
