This is an upmarket bed and breakfast. The owner contacted me prior to the visit to check on any allergies. The tasty breakfast included gluten free sausages and homemade jam. It is a short drive or long walk to a pub.

One of the best B&B's we have ever stayed in. We stayed in the Africa suite which was a very large room with excellent views across the back gardens and into the surrounding countryside. The breakfast was excellent and cooked to order, one of the best we have tasted with locally sourced produce. Our host Caroline was attentive to all our needs and provided exceptional advice and guidance on how to make the most out of local towns including Knaresborough and Harrogate. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.

So welcoming and lovely, rooms clean and everything we needed for a short stay. Beautiful surroundings we stayed in the Egypt room and was lovely having door going out into the garden. Breakfast was delicious and the best I have had in a very long time. I’m already recommending this B&B to friends and family. Caroline was a brilliant host and nothing was too much!!

Caroline ( owner ) goes out of her way to give you a special time. It was for our 50th anniversary and we have stayed before + knew it would be nice. When we went into our room there was a btl of prosecco + 2 glasses in the fridge for us. Also a lovely card. The breakfasts are so good + fine tuned to your needs. Some products are home grown + she makes her own jam. We even had an anniversary song played as we entered the breakfast room. The sign in the entrance hall says .. Arrive has a guest + leave as a friend 🤗 Very true We always stay in the Egyptian room which gives you access onto the decking + lovely garden. Knaresborough is only 15 mins away Will definitely return 😊

An amazing bed and breakfast with nothing whatsoever to fault. Caroline and Darren are perfect hosts, on hand for anything you need. Flaxby is a peaceful place, minutes from Knaresborough and Harrogate and half an hour from York, so it’s ideally situated for exploring the area. We had the “Egypt” and “Africa” rooms, both spotless, spacious and beautifully furnished. Much has been said on previous reviews about the breakfasts, suffice to say it’s all true! Finally, you also get to meet the adorable Charlie the Cockapoo. Thank you Caroline and Darren for a wonderful stay, we very much hope to return.

This was our second visit to this lovely B&B situated in a small hamlet Flaxby about 3 miles out of Knaresborough. We received a lovely warm welcome from Caroline, Darren and Charlie the dog who was very happy to see us again and our dog Jess. Caroline is the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble and she always had time for a chat. We stayed in the Egypt room on the ground floor with patio doors which Jess loves that she can go outside and enjoy the lovely garden and play with Charlie. Breakfast was again fantastic and love the homemade jam. Thank you again for a lovely stay and we are already looking forward to coming back next year

This was our second visit to this lovely b and b situated in a quiet village just outside Knaresborough. We received a lovely warm welcome from Caroline, Darren and Charlie the dog. Caroline is the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble and she always had time for a chat. We stayed in the Egypt room on the ground floor with patio doors out onto the seating area overlooking the garden and open countryside beyond. Everything was just perfect. We appreciated the fridge in the room with fresh milk and filtered bottled water.Plenty of choice for breakfast which was perfectly cooked and presented by Caroline. Ample parking for guests. Before we arrived Caroline sent us a list of places to eat, places to visit etc. should you wish to plan ahead. We enjoyed eating out at the Blue Bell Arkendale and the Bay Horse inn at Goldsborough which are only a short car journey away. We enjoyed visiting Harrogare, Newby Hall and Gardens, RHS Harlow Carr, Beningborough Hall which is National Trust. Had a lovely walk by the river in Knaresborough and called for refreshments at the Ugly Ducking cafe which was very nice.

I booked Byways so we could visit the Yorkshire Show and surrounding area. The best B+B we have stayed in. Very warm and welcoming and my 2 wee ones loved meeting Charlie the dog. Beds were very comfy and the African suite was lovely and spotless! The little extras such as bottled water and treats in the fridge are just an added bonus! Breakfast was delicious each morning and getting a selection of homemade jams to choose from felt very homely. Will definitely be recommending Byways to friends and wouldn't hesitate to book again. Thank you!

The key to this excellent b&b is the hosts, Caroline and Darren. Nothing is too much trouble to ensure that your stay is a memorable one. We stayed in the very spacious and comfortable Africa room. The breakfasts are fantastic and really set you up for the day. Remember to try the homemade jam. We have no doubt that we will be back in the future. Ian and Shirley
