A stones throw from the River Swale, at the foot of Alan the Reds magnificent castle (circa 1070) and just a few minutes from the largest cobbled market place in Britain, the house retains its old world charm, is tastefully decorated, and offers every modern comfort. Each guest room enjoys attractive views and has a private bathroom or shower room. Guests also have the use of the communal sitting room with an open fire, TV, and a small library of books and periodicals. Guests are also free to relax in our peaceful patio garden.

We stayed here over the weekend of the 27th and 28th October. The staff are all very friendly and the breakfasts were lovely. We had the cooked breakfast one morning and then the haddock and the salmon options the next. The hotel is at the bottom of the hill leading up to town.

We are only 150 yards from the market square, but it is uphill. Everywhere in Richmond is uphill it is that sort of town! There is a wide choice of restaurants and our manager will be happy to advise you. The sicillian (Alessandros Hideaway) is a favourite of ours, and there is also a good French restaurant (La Rustique.
