Arriving after a 5-hour drive to visit my son, I was greeted by Tim who immediately enveloped me in the warmth of Millgate House. Packed with antiques and layers of Persian rugs the interior design only goes to enhance the atmosphere enjoyed in this wonderful home. After a wonderful night’s sleep in my luxurious room, with nothing to disturb me...

A beautiful house, with cozy fires, delicious breakfasts and a very warm welcome - and mesmerizing views through the mist over an enchanting garden that tumbles down towards the Swale - it's worth coming in winter just for the fabulous collection of snowdrops. Another memorable visit. Thank you!

Tim and Austin have created a safe haven from the world's troubles having decorated and furnished their beautiful Georgian house with exquisite style. Never have we encountered such interesting hosts with such taste. Our room was almost too comfortable to leave, and, gazing out at the view from our comfy armchairs, having poured our tea from the silver teapot, only...

Thankyou for such generous, perceptive observations. We believe the details are very important...and it is lovely when people seem them. The home made bread is a recent innovation after...

This was booked for us as a wedding gift and what a gift it was. A lovely place and a lovely couple with Tim and Austin. The breakfast was amazing. Its the small touches like Homemade bread that make this an amazing treat. Thank you Tim & Austin for being great hosts

Many thanks to Tim and Austin for such a hospitable welcome. Roaring fires and tea in the drawing room with views out over the River Swale. Comfortable bed room in a beautiful Georgian house full of books and clocks. Breakfast excellent - plums and pistachios with granola. Perfect scrambled eggs on home made sourdough toast.

In reviewing Millgate House I have borrowed phrases from the online description of Dennis Sever's marvelous Georgian house in Spitalfields, London. "To enter its door is to pass through a frame into a painting, one with a life and time of its own". "A still life drama". "Spellbinding- - - and at its core something very rare: soul". The Georgian...

Thank you for this amazingly appreciative review. Coming from an interior design and an antique dealer...praise indeed! I love the quotes from Dennis Sever's Spitalfields house...which of course we have visited. We are indeed no museum although have more than once been referred to as one! Lovely when people are fired by what we are doing here... and especially when...

Another relaxing stay at Millgate House. This was our third or fourth stay here and each time it’s better because it’s the same plus a few months or years. The collection of antiques and books still grows, but the laid-back approach and the wonderful breakfasts are unchanged. It’s such a delight to come down for breakfast to find an antique...

Someone remarked this very morning that you would not find any of it anywhere...certainly not a Georgian teapot...with leaf tea..with Georgian table with towering Georgian windows...etc etc... Very difficult to find. That's why the word "unique" keeps cropping up..there must be such places but we are still searching! What a very appreciative review...again we search for a comparable spread of...

Located off Richmond Market Square, Millgate House is ideally situated to explore the town and surrounding areas. We were given a warm welcome by Tim and Austin and we were invited to look round their prize winning garden. It is apparent that they are very knowledgeable gardeners. The house is beautifully furnished and we were supremely comfortable. Superb view southwards...

Thankyou to all recent reviewers... for your glowingly appreciative comments which have put us back to No 1 in Richmond. The reviews since Christmas don't come much better. It really is very very encouraging when people see what is on offer and "get it". Having just been travelling for three weeks abroad one does gain many insights into what is...

My husband and I have just returned from a two night stop over break at the wonderful Millgate House. From the moment we walked through the door we were in a total wonderland of furniture antiques and art. As we had our dog Mabel with us we stayed in the extremely comfortable room 6 an apartment downstairs with a door...
