Check in was quick and efficient. Very covid orientated in order
To protect staff an customers. This also means forfeiting maid service. We didn’t mind making bed. We were encouraged to ask for more tea coffee toiletries etc. We did and they were quickly replenished.

We ate meals in the restaurant. They were all faultless. I have a special
Diet and the chef Kindly came over to discuss and reassure. Drinks are a bit pricey, but you aren’t forced to drink there and it’s well
Documented

We had the bridal Suite 103, with the hidden door. Huge freestanding bathroom behind. I had only one negative. Something beyond control of the hotel. The first morning at 6 we were woken by draymen rolling barrels under the room and unloading for a considerable amount of time. Second night someone in the very early hours was creeping around in the cleaning cupboard behind our room. They were clearly doing their best to be quiet, but it woke us regardless. Then we were Woken again at 6 by a cleaning delivery. Shattered, we went to bed early but a lot of very merry people kept the noise up from the outdoor bar underneath. When that settled there was noise from the taxi rank opposite until around midnight. Then awake again following morning by market stall being erected. We would request a room at the rear next time. We were there previously and it was much quieter. We didn’t complain as it was generally outside control of hotel staff, and we were reluctant to part with our lovely room. Were keen to be home for a decent sleep. Such a shame as it was one of the comfiest beds I’d ever slept in

The staff make the hotel. They are all hardworking and a credit to the company. A special mention goes to LJ. She was exceptionally welcoming and gave us lots of local hints and tips

We passed the Kings head on a previous visit to Richmond and booked it as it has such a great location in the market square meaning we could park the car and explore on foot.
We booked a two night stay with a 2 course meal one evening and breakfast both mornings. The restaurant is a very nicely furnished space with the tables nicely spaced out and comfortable chairs, we enjoyed our evening meal and the breakfast both mornings. I did find the vegan sausage a bit too realistic for my liking but that seems to be the way with vegetarian options recently, I’m not vegan/vegetarian but don’t eat meat just fish so really enjoyed the eggs royale on the second morning. This morning was busy at breakfast with 2 large groups but the hospitality sector is really struggling for staff so whilst they were very busy they served with a smile and it was worth the wait.
We stayed in room 104 which was a fairly spacious room with no outlook but it’s a nice quiet room so you can’t have everything! There’s some really nice touches in the room like a pack of cards, 0&X’s, good quality drink selection and enough for more then one coffee each, the overall feel is a bit TKMaxx but I like the individual, quirkiness of this style. The bathroom has good quality toiletries in full sizes to cut down on plastic waste which is great to see.
We really enjoyed our stay at this friendly hotel and look forward to returning in the future, Richmond is a very pleasant place to spend a couple of days.

I went with my partner and an elderly relative for lunch on New Years Day. A slight glitch when we arrived. Although I had booked by phone that morning there was no record of my booking.
The young woman that I spoke to was very calm and asked that we took a seat in the bar and give her five minutes to clear and clean a table. Five minutes later we were shown to our table.
We chose half a dozen plates from the sharing and starters menu and ordered drinks which arrived promptly along with a carafe of water. It was very busy and the food did take a little time to arrive but we were feeling very relaxed and it was clear that all the staff were working flat out but efficiently and were very friendly and pleasant with no hint of rushing us.
The food was worth the wait. It was delicious and felt freshly prepared.
I should say that our elderly relative, 92 in a few weeks, can be rather formidable and not shy of voicing her opinion. She was delighted and is already planning our next visit.
So, well done to your kitchen and to your restaurant staff we had a most excellent meal and a lovely time. All of the staff that we engaged with were absolutely charming. We look forward to returning.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. I am sorry about the glitch on arrival, but pleased that we were able to iron it out immediately. We have made sure that our team are aware of your kind words - they work so hard over the Festive period and it brings us great pleasure to read that their efforts do not go unnoticed. I am happy that we were able to live up to your forthright relative's expectations - we hope that she has a wonderful birthday! We look forward to seeing you all again the next time that you are in the area.

This hotel has so much to offer being in the centre of town and with a thorough refurbishment sympathetically updating the historical feel to it. However your impression of a hotel so much depends on the experience you have at the time and personally I wouldn’t stay here again with so many other options available locally. Other reviews are much more positive but this is what we found. Thought we’d got ourselves a bargain on Expedia but we were wrong. The rate was room only so with breakfast likely to add another £17 each, it wasn’t going to be the bargain we thought it’d be. Very limited parking in the small car park and the manager seemed to think it a source of amusement as to whether the car would be subject to the £100 daily fine. No skin off her nose I suppose but I’d want reassurance when leaving the car. Parking around the hotel seemed to be a maximum of 2 hours unless you forked out extra cash. Management lacked warmth and clearly weren’t bothered whether we did or did not have a good stay. ‘There’s your keys, if you want breakfast let me know !’ Room was plushly fitted but with the windows painted fast so they wouldn’t open, it became uncomfortably stuffy throughout the night. The windows faced a breeze block wall so there was no view. It was a bit like an inside cabin on a ship minus the comfort of ventilation. If allocated room 104, then reject it before you’re stuck ! Positives were spotless cleaning and reassurance that Covid precautions were being strictly adhered to. Will review restaurant separately as our experience there was more positive mainly due to the efforts of the hard working staff. However, for me, the hotel needs to up its game.

Stayed for 3 nights at this hotel from an excellent Secret Escapes Deal. Due to it being my husbands birthday during our stay, I requested to upgrade from a classic room to a superior room which the hotel kindly facilitated on a small extra cost with no issues at all.
The hotel is in the market place and is central for all amenities. Our room was absolutely lovely and had both a free-standing bath and a separate shower. Breakfast was awesome and service by the breakfast staff was outstanding, a particular mention for Laura who is one if the friendliest, most accommodating people I have ever met, nothing was too much trouble at all, so a big thank you to her. Cant really fault the hotel at all other than we were in room 103 which is at the front of the hotel. Due to the windows being singularly glazed, it can make it quite noisy early mornings due to traffic & deliveries. But also, our room was very cold, the radiator hardly through any heat out at all. However, when we mentioned this to a member of staff, he did provide a separate heater to use in the room.
We would definitely consider a stay in another coaching inn hotel in a different location for our next trip away.

Thank you for taking the time to write a fair and comprehensive review of your stay with us. We have made sure that Laura is aware of your kind words, as well as the rest of the team. We are looking to install secondary glazing in the rooms at the front of the hotel, and hope that this did not impact too greatly on your stay. We are happy to read that you did enjoy your overall stay with us and hope you enjoy your stays in our sister hotels, and to see you again the next time you are visiting Richmond.

We stayed for a week in July. We had booked relatively late, resulting in us having to change rooms each morning. House-keeping and Reception staff could not have been more helpful in making this as easy and convenient for us as possible.
The building has been beautifully refurbished inside and all the rooms that we stayed in were equally well furnished, super-clean and loaded with nice details to make us feel welcome.
Breakfast is offered from a varied menu and the full range of freshly made coffees always hit the spot. Our first night dinner was so good, we dined here all week. The portions are generous and the quality excellent.
What really makes this hotel so outstanding is the staff team. Courteous, knowledgeable, professional, friendly and super-helpful at all times. Equally, Mia in Central Reservations was determined to find a way of allocating rooms to us during a busy week for the hotel.
Not only will we definitely be back, we hope it will be soon.

Hi Paul, it was a pleasure to meet you both and we are all so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us as much as we did having you with us, even if it was like musical room changes!, the weather was kind to you most of the time so that you had some great days out on your motorbike and Marilyn enjoyed her walks whilst studying, also managing to have a great catch up with family. I will pass on your kind comments to all teams. We all look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind Regards, Louise

My wife and I returned to retry this once lovely hotel. Once before about two years ago we walked out after slow poor service, but after moving away we decided to give it another go. We wanted a simple breakfast. Tea for two and two toasted tea cakes. We signed in and ordered and found our own table. It hadn’t been cleared or wiped. A Perspex COVID screen was screwed to the table and made it unstable. It was also cracked and poorly mended with duck tape. Our tea cakes arrived, toasted on one side only with no cutlery to use to butter them. The waiter then brought those. We’d eaten them and then waited 10 minutes but still no tea. I asked the waiter who was washing the floor, where our tea was. He said he was sorry but it wasn’t ready yet. It eventually came with an apology but we needed to leave. I left my tea. The hotel is in a prime location but poor, slow service and poor food means we won’t give them a third chance.

We got a warm and efficient welcome to this olde worlde hotel. I expected our room to be a bit kronky, but it wasn’t. It was tastefully decorated with modern fittings, the bed was comfy, there were plenty of charging sockets and they left both of us with a bottle of water; great start.

They value their heritage, lots of bygone pics adorn the walls. The restaurant menu is limited, but fine. We opted for 3x taps for starters and a roast chicken dinner (it was Sunday). The taps came freshly cooked, there was plenty of it and it tasted great. The roast was nicely home cooked and full of flavour. It was advertised as 1/2 a roast chicken with stuffing, well unfortunately all I got was a very small wing and no stuffing. Shame.

Breakfast in the morning was fine, assorted cold stuff and Eggs Royale, which were tasty.

The whole team are friendly and well trained. We were there on their lazy Sunday internal deal which was great value. I’d love to give them 5 stars, but the shower was stuck on burning hot (no adjustment), the non-show chicken and the old sign outside our room blowing wildly by storm Dennis all night took the shine of a top performance. We’ll return as this is a very well run hotel....

The hotel was in a great local to where my customer was and there was a free car park behind the hotel.

Staff were helpful and friendly and breakfast was lovely ( freshly cooked).

My room was quiet (Room 304) as I requested, however the room could do with a fresh coat of paint and a bit of a deep clean to remove the mold developing by the condensation from the windows.

Need to get the mixer on the shower fixed as unfortunately it was either lukewarm or scolding hot.

The radiator that was not working, staff tried to help but could not fix at the time so was provided a heater that was just a good.

Overall a pleasant stay and would stay here again.

We stayed at The Kings Head Hotel on the 22nd of June for 2 nights and it was fantastic.
Louise and all of her team were fabulous, especially Ryan and Jack who mostly took care of us during our stay but they were all very hard working, friendly and genuinely cared about your stay and the service you were receiving from them. It was a refreshing change to be asked how your food was by people who actually cared.
Our stay was part of our 25th wedding anniversary and we were delighted when we went to our room to find a anniversary card and a gift of a box of handmade chocolates from Mocha left for us. A very special touch.
We ate in the restaurant the first night and really wished we had done so on the 2nd (a very good reason to visit again) as the food and service was fantastic, we enjoyed a breakfast on both mornings, again lovely and so much choice on both breakfast and dinner menus.
Our bedroom was lovely, very large, the tea and coffee facilities were very tasteful and high class, also had a really nice bathroom with lovely complimentary toiletries.
A big thanks to everyone for making our stay very memorable, we'll definitely be back again.
