Fantastic weekend in a beautiful house surrounded by gorgeous views and hosted by a wonderful couple. We would highly recommend Thorpe Hall to anyone considering it for their honeymoon-as we did 24 years ago.

The owners were lovely, friendly and helpful. Very tasty breakfasts with an attentive service. Importantly given the COVID crisis, as many measures as possible were put into place to protect guests. Information was published on the website and printed/displayed at the entrance. Electronic hand sanitizers were strategically placed in all communal areas. The hall itself is very atmospheric and intriguing. We stayed during a storm and even though there was a bit of a breeze through the windows (it is a listed building), our room stayed cosily warm. We had no tv which made a lovey change. There was WiFi but given the size, age, and solid walls of the building it was a tad slow. The grounds were large with lots of seating areas, with access to walking paths and some local deer. It was about a 10 minute walk to the top of RHB and restaurants. There was a pub closer by but we didn’t visit on this occasion. We are planning to go back during the warmer weather to take more advantage of what the hall has to offer.

I wish we had found Thorpe hall sooner, Angelique and David are the perfect hosts. We have been looking for somewhere our dog would be as welcome as us and we have now found it. Beautiful surroundings and fabulous walks to match the beautiful old building.

Anqelique was an excellent host, great communication beforehand and very welcoming and helpful during our stay. The house has a very interesting history and is even in the local museum, staying there makes you feel as though you're part of the local history. The grounds are expansive and open up onto the railway line and other links to numerous walking routes in the area. I saw deer in the garden too!
