Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A fabulous find with lovely hosts - the perfect location too! Spacious room with a comfortable bed and a view to die for - the breakfasts were so tasty and Andrew and Tracy made us feel so at home, also helping us with local knowledge which really came in handy when we were travelling round. Robin Hood's bay is absolutely stunning and only a very short walk from this lovely b&b

Absolutely beautiful B&B. Spacious and extremely comfortable bedrooms with every amenity. Utterly peaceful. We stayed in the Terracotta room which had the most stunning view right down over Robin Hood's Bay. Tracy welcomed us warmly and was very helpful with tips about transport or walks, or with safely storing our baggage from early morning to allow us to go off and enjoy our day. Breakfasts were amazing, hearty full English with the best ingredients, fresh fruit salad with delicious yoghurt, cereals, choice of toast... set us up for a day's hiking. Brilliant location at the top of the hill, just a few minutes easy walk from the bus-stop (for anyone travelling without a car) and right at the beginning of the section of the wonderful Cleveland Way walk between RHB and Whitby. Could not recommend more highly.

Our third stay at Thackwood B&B, walking the Cleveland Way this time, and we were not disappointed. We had a comfortable spacious room with a superb view over the bay (and our next day's walk to Scarborough). Tracy made us a very welcome fresh fruit salad with yogurt for breakfast, followed by free range poached eggs from a local supplier. We would certainly stay here again.

We spent two nights at Thackeood and the only fault was we wish we’d booked for longer! An absolutely perfect stay. We stayed in the Terracotta room, spotlessly clean, amazing views, large bathroom and comfy bed. Breakfast was gorgeous Tracy and Andy were friendly and knowledgeable of the local area. We’d highly recommend a stay here!!

A lovely relaxing break at the Thackwood. Was able to stay in our usual room Terracotta. It's a coupe of years since we have been due to Covid and other commitments. A perfect BnB with perfect hosts/friends in Tracy and Andrew not forgetting Olivia and Drew plus Oscar the dog. Neil and I would certainly recommend anyone to stay here, such a tranquil peaceful setting with beautiful views. it is so nice to be greeted with a lovely welcome by all the family. Tracy's breakfasts are prepared with love and perfection and delivered to your table with a smile. There are heaps of lovely places to eat in Robin Hoods Bay of an evening or you could venture into Whitby a short car/bus/taxi ride away. Lovely walks in the area and a fab walk into Whitby via the cinder path or the cliff top. If you haven't yet stayed here what you waiting for, give yourself a treat away for a few days. Highly recommend. Neil and Bev of Hunsworth, West Yorkshire.

Lovely large room with large bathroom and a nice view over to the sea in a well run B & B at the top of the bay close to pubs and restaurants. The breakfast was lovely. Very clean and had everything you required. Would recommend to anyone walking the coastal path

My wife and I made a last minute decision to travel to the east coast after abandoning a trip abroad because of quarantine restrictions and were rewarded with a most enjoyable long weekend including 2 nights at the Thackwood B&B. We found Andy and Tracy to be perfect hosts who try to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. On our arrival we were greeted by Andy and the friendly spaniel Oscar and were offered a space to park our car for which we were grateful as parking is difficult to find along this coast. The B&B is in an elevated position overlooking the coastline with outstanding views of the bay, something we could see from our bed whilst having a morning cuppa which is great. We stayed in the green room which is spacious and well appointed with an en suite bathroom, indeed if I were to attempt to create the perfect guest room I would be looking to achieve something like this one. Our hosts observed all Covid-19 precautions and practices. We ordered a full English breakfast with poached egg which was served after fresh juice and cereals and was all washed down with tea/coffee, a 6 mile hike along the nearby cinder path to Whitby helped to walk it off! The cinder path or adjacent cliff top walk is very scenic and would recommend. On our return from Whitby by taxi to Robin Hoods Bay (around £12.50) we ate some excellent fish and chips en route to the Bay Hotel which lies on the beach/causeway and serves good ales/ lagers etc. As we were lucky with the weather it made for a pleasant afternoon chatting to the friendly locals and tourists alike. This village is an ex smugglers cove with lovely cottages and thin back streets with some nice restaurants if you are able to book, but beware there is a steep hill to deal with if visiting the beach! We booked a last minute one-night stop over at the Thackwood B&B and we're glad we did. A very warm welcome was given to us by hosts Tracy and Andrew on our arrival. Free parking in their large driveway helped enormously. The Thackwood is spotlessly clean, homely and inviting and the location is perfect for a break in Robin Hoods Bay. Full English breakfast in the morning was delicious and nothing seemed to much trouble. I would highly recommend a short vacation here and I'll be recommending the Thackwood to my friends and family. We will definitely return in the future, 5 stars! Steve & Nikky (Wakefield UK).
