Situated just above beautiful Robin Hood's Bay, Bay Ness Farm has sea views and scenic countryside surrounds. Access to the old railway line is available across a track from the farm and makes for a short yet picturesque walk to Robin Hood's Bay. For longer walks, the Cleveland Way and coast to coast routes can found in the bay. Robin Hood's Bay with its many old cobbled streets, beaches, shops and tearooms is a popular area for those visiting North Yorkshire. The larger port of Whitby is close by and has boat trips and golden sands plus many shops and amenities.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We loved this campsite! The facilities were very clean and found the owners to be very friendly and helpful. The pitches were perfect and well spaced so felt very peaceful and secluded. The campsite is on top of a cliff so the views over the sea were really unbeatable. Around 15 min walk from Robin Hoods Bay along a scenic foot path, where there are lovely pubs, restaurants and shops.

hi not related to this review but if you want to see the site not just turn up and drive onto site as someone has to come to see who you are and we wont take a booking from you as several people have done this already this week even though we have a four foot by three foot sign asking people not to go on site

I stayed for a week in early July. Directions provided by the site owners were easy to follow, but essential. Travelling along the lane it was easy to appreciate why the arrival and departure times are enforced. I received a warm and friendly greeting from Mike (one of the owners), who showed me around and explained that pitches are not pre allocated. The whole site and all facilities were exceptionally clean throughout my stay. Skye (the other owner) could be found regularly cleaning the toilets/showers and walking the camp site (I never did get to find out how she could do this in a heavy looking coat on the many hot summer days that I was rewarded with).
There are fantastic views across the bay, even when the site is fully booked and Skye is always willing to advise upon local walks and attractions.
I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday at Bay Ness and hope to be back there soon.

Stayed for 4 nights early September. Clear directions, thorough checking in procedure where you're escorted onto the site and everything is explained. Choose your own pitch and all are spacious and not on top of each other like some sites nowadays. The owners are really considerate and friendly, and did their utmost to ensure all was good. Short (steep) walk from site down to the Cinder Track which you can walk or cycle to Whitby or Robin Hoods Bay and as far as Scarborough. Be aware it's a rough track for cycling in places though! Amazing sea views from site, excellent showers, toilets, pot washing, chemical toilet disposal point, drinking water points aorund the site, and a recycling area. Personally I can't wait to return.

A beautiful place to camp for the night! The site is situated at the top of a hill with fantastic views looking out over the sea! When we arrived we were shown the facilities which were clean and of a good standard. The campsite had good and clear COVID procedures which made us feel comfortable quickly. There is a lovely trail down to Robin Hoods Bay which we took to go and find some breakfast on the first day.

All in all a great find which we look forward to staying at again!

I sent a polite mail for availability for a booking in June and got a reply saying that they would not accept visitors that included being dropped off or picked up. No visitors dropping in for a cuppa. Was asked to confirm that we were not going there to meet any friends as they don’t allow grpoups. I was left wondering if we might be able to even speak to other campers.
Rules state your not allowed to arrive before 2pm and departure before 11

My wife and myself are in our 60s and we’re addressed as if we were some kind of adolescent idiots.

They might as well have gone the whole way and told us to stand by our beds at 06:30 for a camp inspection

We wanted a quiet couple of days but I just told the management (Who have a real attitude problem) to forget it.

Would not even recommend thinking about the place. Totally agree with the other post stating utter rudeness

Give this owner a break for goodness sake!!!
If people on here spent time and empathised how hard this owner and partner work to ensure a safe clean site they should be ashamed to write such negative reviews. This is our second time here and if people read the safety issues re the times to vacate-arrive they would realise how Mike keeps the site clean and safe for everyone.
Mike has a dry wicked sense of humour which we found very funny - do not judge a person please until you have had time to realise the scale of his responsibility! This man is still walking around the site late evening to ensure guests are safe. He is chatty and informative and very approachable - maybe go to one of the larger commercial type sites if you are not comfortable in the beautiful to die for views and quietness assured at Bay Ness. Thank you Mike again x 5 stars all the way !

Can't fault the views, brill location overlooking the sea. Toilet/shower facilities need full renovation, after months of lockdown during covid I expected a better setup. Farm access / pathways heavily overgrown with weeds and crap. Showers are in what looks like a renovated agriculture outbuilding, basic plumbing and drainage, shower hanging off the wall with silicone, shower head restricted flow, nowhere to really hang your kit / get changed, pathway to the facilities covered in weeds (would take minutes to spray / strim this area so this is down to owners being idle). Plenty of weird signs dotted around the site, access down to robin hood's bay no use to elderly / young children / a pram etc... You basically walk through a rough steep area of the farm that seems to house some sort of 4x4 training with rotten diggers and machinery dotted about. Staff, rarely saw, unique customer service. Check in has to be after half 1 (even to camp, considering there was plenty of space on the field to pitch, still has to be after half 1?). Access to the site is via a narrow lane and through a farm, not ideal for towing caravans as will have to reverse back to main road. To some up, the site has potential purely because of the views, but the rest needs to be demolished and started again.

Peaceful site with beautiful views over Robin Hood's Bay. The village is a 15 minute walk away down the path accessible from the site. Whitby is also about 2 hours walk away down the Cleveland Way. Owner was friendly and helpful and although the weather wasn't great for most of it, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A must for all campers. Fabulous views and walks. Facilities are perfect and clean. Water is available from various points and very friendly staff to help you to the pitch. Very peaceful and quiet campsite and not over populated. Great place to visit stay.

So very disappointed at the unbending Ts & Cs of this place. Pocketing nearly £100 of our holiday money despite us being required by law to self isolate because of Covid.

We made a booking within the 24hour cancellation period only to receive a message from Test and Trace on the day we were due to arrive. I explained the predicament to the manager and provided evidence of the T&T notification. The owner said ‘the Terms were set and all they could do’ was offer two dates later in the year. Sadly we live nearly 6 hours away so this wasn’t feasible - the stay was part of a round trip. I explained this and suggested they meet us half way and at least refund 50%. A flat ‘no’.

Not only was our first holiday in 18 months cut short, but this felt like a kick in the gut while we were down. I know small businesses have struggled to stay afloat during Covid but this to me is very poor customer service.
