Just returned from an overnight stay for our wedding anniversary. We had a room in the property next door which was excellent. The welcome, staff , food , service , everything was as well. Also, in view of the times we are living in , we found the Covid measures were well practiced. We will certainly stay again . Thanks Karl and team. 👍

We have been to The Blue Bell Inn before and the delicious food always delights us. The small but well thought out menu offers something for everyone. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient and the atmosphere warm and cosy. These days there is one more category to be considered. How Covid safe is the environment. Sadly I felt uncomfortable in the restaurant as there appeared to be only 1 sanitiser, plastic menus were shared between tables, the waiting staff only wore masks when serving the food, not drinks or taking orders. None of the customers wore masks when moving around the restaurant. With North East cases rising and 4,000 new cases reported in the last 24hours I felt vulnerable without clear, well planned precautions in place.

Hi Janet. It's such a shame that you decided to leave us a review when we'd rather have talked to you about your concerns directly...but in response to the points raised. As a business we conducted a comprehensive COVID-19 risk assessment, which is reviewed every two weeks. The output from this determined specific measures and safeguards for both customers ad staff. In summary, our menu's are in plastic wipeable sleeves, which are sanitised after a customer has used them (they are NOT passed from table to table as you suggest). We ask all customers to use the hand sanitiser station when entering, and, in fact, the clear sign emphasises that hand sanitiser is available from staff as and when a customer requires it. We also have provision in the toilets. Food is quite rightly served wearing a mask, and this shall continue as long as deemed necessary. However, it is not a requirement for customers to wear then while here. IF you read our recent reviews, ALL of the customers are happy with our safeguarding measures, so again, it would have been better for yourself to have discussed them with us directly rather than suggesting we are not compliant! Trusting this clarifies and corrects you accordingly.

We booked this last minute as we couldn’t get into our holiday let in Whitby till the next day. Arrived in the pouring rain with our parents one who is 94 and registered blind. The room we were allocated wasn’t suitable as it was upstairs so the lovely hosts offered them a suite on the ground floor for the same price. Needless to say the room was wonderful. We had a fabulous breakfast next day served by great staff. Unfortunately the restaurant was fully booked when we arrived but judging by the breakfast the food would have been top class. Highly recommended!

Fabulous find. Lovely pub in a quaint yorkshire village. The room was clean comfortable and very Covid safe. The food was lovely, lots of it and loads of choice. The puddings are to die for. Breakfast was great and nothing was too much trouble. The village is very close to loads of things to see and do, perfect.

My partner and i visited this place for a meal and overnight stay based on other recommendations and we're impressed from every aspect! The hosts Julia and Karl so warm and welcoming. The local customers so friendly. The accomodation so modern, spacious and clean. And the food was absolutely out of this world, we both had 3 courses and couldnt fault anything! The cooked breakfast, with "trotters" local sausages was like no breakfast I've had in a long time! Will definitely be returning soon hopefully!
