Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited here for the bank holiday and stayed at the campsite. I had been to the park before as we are fairly local so knew what to expect. However this was our first time camping at the park… safe to say it will also be our last.

Toilet facilities on the campsite and in the park were revolting. Way too many campers and visitors for the limited facilities. They were not cleaned, toilets were blocked, no loo paper, blood on the toilet seats, mud and dirt all over the floors. I complained and three cleaners came to the campsite block and literally mopped the mud around the floor. No cleaning products were used. Considering the covid situation there was no sanitiser and the soap dispensers were empty. Buns were full, and there were no sanitary bins in the ladies loos. I felt very uncomfortable showering my children in the showers as they were also filthy.

The campsite was full of very large groups, one group had microphones and did karaoke into the early hours.
Cars and motorbikes were whizzing around the campsite at speed - totally unacceptable considering it was full of families with young children.

On arrival it was totally unclear where to check in. No one approached us and there wasn’t anything in the emails to say where we should go. I visited reception in the main park on our second day and checked in then!

On the park the rides were great and the children had a lovely time. Queue times were good on most rides - just one or too where the wait was 30-45 mins. Loved the log flume and the Dino rollercoaster. Great rides for younger children too. The wristsbands were good value and we got a discounted 50% off for our second day as campers at the park.
Most rides seemed to be open and there was lots of staff on the park to keep things running.

However, lots of toilet blocks were closed and the ones which were open were similar to those on the campsite in that they were very dirty!

Visited the park with my son and granddaughter. Hadn't been here since before Covid but the park doesn't offer as much as it did. Lots of areas were under development and the rides that were working had long waits. Tickets are £1 for August but we struggled to use ours on the day and they can't be used another day: so a waste really. Prices in the café far too high; £3.50 for a magnum ice cream is a bit much! I felt that the park is looking a bit tired and could do with an upgrade. Lots of space for picnics, ball games and the playground is still great. Overall we had a good day out but probably won't travel this far again

I only have nice things to say about this park. It's clean and tidy, has a pretty lake area, fab massive free playground and a time warp feel to it due to all the classic rides. Only 3 rides were open today for covid reasons but they were our 3 favourite and we had a fun time. Queues were small, staff polite and doing a good job with the distancing measures. I'm glad to see the park out of financial trouble and look forward to them re-opening the rest of the attractions.

The camping facilities are a disgrace.
Had concerns from last year, but reassured they had addressed them, not true same disgrace.

Ladies showers were cold on first day.
Gents toilet area was never cleaned to COVID-19 standards all weekend. The same biscuit crumbs were present on urinal surrounds all weekend.

Floors were not cleaned, just used a mop to spread the dirt around.

No hot water for washing pots.

Over priced, not hygienic and will not be going again as over priced.

Took my elderly father to plant a tree for my mum . We loved it and had forgotten how marvellous it is. We will definitely be going again soon. Should really be listed as a nature/walking site, as it offers so much more than a few rides...

I spent a lovely Thursday afternoon doing crafting, today we did art, I'm no artist, but pleased with what I did. This is such a great value afternoon. £5 all materials supplied, lovely people.
We do something different each week. 2 hour session in the morning 10-12 and or a 2 hour session in the afternoon 1-3. Would certainly recommend, a great way to spend Thursdays. You can buy tickets online or just walkin and get your ticket from the ticket office.

Wicksteed is very accessible and is perfectly placed for people wanting to go however the staff can be rude and there is occasional rubbish lying around communal areas, not to mention that we had to wait for someone to OPEN a ride as it was shut due to the member of staff not being there to accept rides, I would recommend you take your own food as the restaurants there are quite pricey and usually don’t have what your after.

I’m afraid we were less than impressed with the campsite. Our reasons are as follows:
1. There was no one on site to report to or most importantly for allocating pitches, so it was a ‘free for all’. We paid extra for large pitches, but there was no way of monitoring this – as far as we could see everyone had the same amount of space so I have no idea where our extra money went.
2. There is a woeful lack of toilet/shower facilities for the size of the site (1 block) – if there were 2 blocks one could be closed while the other was cleaned, and they would not be so crowded. Because of this lack of provision, the showers were filthy, toilets had wet floors, there was a lack of mops or signs to ask people to mop up after themselves. There were no benches to put toiletries/clothes on the showers so everything got wet and dirty as things inevitably dropped on the floor, there were no mirrors by the hairdryers. We used a family room but were unable to lock it so someone had to ‘stand guard’ – again it was very dirty. For the amount that we paid per night Over £30... (without even any electrical hook-up) this is absolutely unacceptable and below the basic requirements that one would expect for the price –I have asked for Wicksteed's views on this but they have not got back to me regarding this lack of basic facilities to keep us clean.
3. There were only 2 washing up sinks for the whole site – again this promoted unhygienic conditions and people needing to wash up and pour away dirty water near tents
4. There was no area for the emptying of chemical toilets that we could find, which meant that toilets had to be emptied down the WCs, again promoting unhygienic conditions.
5. There was little-no security on site – we saw open fires, people riding around very fast on mini-motorbikes and doing other unsafe things – the only time we heard what we thought to be security was very late one evening when someone was asked to turn off a generator (it was well past midnight)
All in all this was a very disappointing experience, it feels like the Park are happy to take a high fee for the 'privelage' of staying there but with a woeful lack of concern for the campers. I contacted the park straight after our stay (Aug Bank Holiday), but they have not had the courtesy to respond, therefore I;m afraid my review is a fairly scathing one.

What a money pit £6 to park your car even though we spent £60 on two wristbands & a sheet of tickets! Rides were very old and on the dodgems the seatbelt came undone around my little man not very safe! The lady working in the aviary enclosure was very rude and unhappy! The whole place needs a major overhaul and the pricing needs to be addressed we were here for less than 3 hours and my boys are only 6 & 4 yet they had done it all!! We won't be back that's for sure & would advise any body else to avoid as well.
