Detailed Reviews
F1 Camping - first of all this review needs to be in context, this will help people deciding whether to stay here for the F1 at Silverstone. We are not campers, this is the first time we have camped and the reason we chose Dadford is because if you want to experience the full programme of practice, qualification and race of the F1 weekend you need at least two nights staying somewhere if you cannot commute every day. Hotels as far away as Northampton, Milton Keynes and Bedford all triple their prices.
The campsite is 15-20 minutes walk from the entrance at Stowe corner, which is the largest GA viewing area. This means as you need to be queuing at 6am on race day it makes it very convenient! The campsite is large though and as we arrived on the Friday morning our pitch was another 15 mins walk to the gate so if you come later it will be further, the place is massive. The electrical hook up pitches are all about that distance.
The campsite is basic as it only has campers for larger events like the F1 and MotoGP. Therefore the facilities are not luxurious. They were stretched for the large numbers there this year and it was 5-7 mins walk to the shower block from our tent. However the toilets were very clean and the queuing for showers only happened for brief busy periods. There were water points regularly spaced over the site which was handy.
The real genius was the traffic management. We didnt rush to leave on race day and went onto the track etc and got back to the site about an hour after the podium presentation. The guys at the site had opened a rear entrance and were directing traffic through the farm. I had read horror stories about huge waits to leave the area on race day and was prepared for a long journey. Straight out of the farm onto roads away from Silverstone with zero traffic jams, none. Added no time to our journey at all, brilliant.
Yes it’s a large campsite and it’s noisy at night but it’s the largest sporting event in the UK!

Parked here for the 2022 F1, fri,sat and Sunday. £50 which I put my name down 1 year ago to register a chance to park here. Friday was no problem and Saturday was not bad but Sunday was parked 2.5 miles from circuit. I understand it’s busy and have read the website and the FAQ. No one asked to see my confirmation email so I guess they are just taking on as many cars as they can. Staff friendly. I think you need to offer some kind of transport system further up to the entrance if you are going to take on so many vehicles and expect people to walk that far.

Cent1980, thank you for your review. Sunday was a sell out crowd at Silverstone and the sheer demand for parking at Silverstone this year was unprecedented with most car parks selling out completely. We note your points thank you. We have considered a transport system, however having tried that in the past we found it caused more chaos and complaints on an already very busy site. The only good thing was that those who arrived later and parked further away were nearer to the back exit for departure which helped make up for the long walk for many.

We camped here for the british f1 GP. Electric parking was at back and was a long walk. I am disabled and the staff were excellent in accommodating for me, by allowing me to drive to front and park in that field so wasnt too far to walk. Unfortunately on Sunday there was just too many cars and people and an incident on main road (out of site’s control) resulted awful queues and my car being stuck and us not being able to drive back to our pitch until late but we slept for a bit before packing and getting car to allow for traffic to calm down.
Pitch was level and was spacious with field not being overly noisy.
Only other downside was the toilet and shower blocks. The toilet in the electric hookup field was a little shack and was horrendous (portaloos would have been improvement) and the nearest shower block was a fair distance and was for at least 5 different fields (all full). The shower block was basic and the showers had no trays so the water from people showering would run into the toilet cubicles.
We would stay here again as we were able to drive to the shower block (with me being disabled too far to walk) and they were very accommodating but would definitely consider bringing an electric scooter to make things easier.
Thank you to the staff for being understanding and helpful!

For the drive up seemed a great car park, fairly well organised and not much traffic (got here 7:20am) and 10 min walk to the race track.
However on the way out it seemed like they had got all their money so didn’t care about how we got out. Much less staff and took me 3 and a half hours to leave the car park.
Sunniest day of the year also and no offer for drinks ect.
Probs would definitely recommend park and ride and I won’t support this car park again.

Thank you for your honest review. Thanks for sharing your experience - clearly you parked with us on the Sunday. The car parking worked really well on Thurs, Fri and Sat and indeed on Sunday Morning. However we had a huge issue on Sunday evening - sadly there was an accident in Dadford Village and so the main road just ground to a halt. Silverstone Traffic Control would not let anyone turn left out of our entrance and as a result it was grid lock and totally out of our control. We understand how frustrating it was for those sat in cars - but it was very frustrating for us also trying to get everyone away. F1 2021 did have a capacity crowd and the roads round Silverstone were very full, but the accident caused so much hassle and problems for us all. The best advice after any main race at Silverstone is to stay at Silverstone as long as possible as it's often an issue on after race day on Sunday. - We say this in our FAQs as well - https://silverstone-campsite.co.uk/faq/#toggle-id-40 Sorry you had a poor time, but w have toilets and mains tap water on site as well as a food/drinks van which was available to all those on site. We did communicate the issues to people in the cars in person the best we could and also on facebook etc Also all our staff stayed on site and were helping people, so I am sorry you felt we didn't care about how you got out - nothing could be further from the truth as we wanted you on your way as quickly as we possibly could and were at our exits

Dadford Road is a cheap campsite for Silverstone Grand Prix. I stayed there 4 years ago and it was fantastic. This year, 2022 was a far worse experience, the key reason being insufficient facilities for the number of people. The 2 main toilet/shower block facilities are basic, but fine. However, there were a small number of other mainly portable toilet facilities around the site which were very poor. The key issue was there were simply too many people on site for the overall number of showers and toilets on site. They must have known how many were booked in, and could have hired more facilities in for the F1, but chose not to - very poor.
It's a shame because the ground itself is ideal for camping, and being able to choose your own pitch is great. However, based on this year's experience, I will be unlikely to stay there again, unless there is some acceptance they got the ratios wrong this year, and can make further improvements.

Thank you for taking the time to review. We are sorry to hear you didn't feel the campsite was up to your expectations. 2022 was exceptionally busy year, but we did hire in more facilities as a result and had considerably more facilities than are required by the regulations. We are sorry you didn't have the experience you would have liked. We have hired in more toilets and showers this year, although we expect numbers overall to be lower than 2022. We pride ourselves on looking after our regular customers and welcoming them back each year and would love to welcome you back too.

First and last time staying at this campsite. Very poor facilities with nowhere near enough toilets and showers for the number of people they squeezed onto the site. Toilets and showers were not cleaned regularly enough. the caravans and camper vans were pitched far too close together for safety and the water points were badly signposted and far too few of them. At no time when booking where we told that the EU were a good 20/30 mins walk from the road. Paid for electric yet on day of arrival they kept it switched off until gone 6pm in the evening. Staff were friendly enough but nothing enough to make us ever come back to a site that badly takes your money and provides the bare minimum

Jess, Thank you for taking the time to share your views. In response, please can we note the following: - On our Electric hook up page it clearly stated that the hook up pitches "Location EHUs will be situated at the back of the campsite, 900m away from the entrance. It will be a 20-25 min walk from the hookup area to Club Corner at Silverstone" - Covid Rules at the time advised that those with onboard toilet and shower facilities should use them. You may have been in a tent, and it says on our hook up page "Facilities At the Hook Up area there will be tap water and a single flushing toilet unit. Toilets & Showers will be in our main purpose built blocks located circa 400m away" It also tells you this in the booking information sent out. - We provided more than one single flushing toilet at the hook up pitches due to Covid. - According to the Council Standards we have to adhere to, our toilet and shower facilities vastly exceed the requirements - Our family cleaning team was on a constant toilet/shower cleaning run, We are sorry they were not up to your expectations, and I think you refer to the extra block we hired in especially to improve social distancing in an area on the campsite where people with onboard facilities were supposed to use them. to reduce Covid Spread. - The nature of Electric Hook up is that there are cables that run back to the generators. The longer the cables the less efficient the electric is at getting to the units. Caravans were spaced out on the pitches, and we asked campers to separate caravans with their cars, so no caravans were back to back. - We provided people with the 7mx8m pitches that we told them we would when they booked. - I am sorry you felt the water points were badly signposted. That is something we can improve. - Clearly you arrived on Wednesday and the generators were switched on that evening as is always the case. The generators require fuel and they are on full bore when they are running. It is too expensive for them to be running for the benefit of one camper. We will look to see if we have communicated this well enough and improve. - I am sorry to hear you don't wish to come back, but we do not feel that your statement that we 'badly takes your money and provides the bar minimum' is fair or indeed true. We have run this site for thirty years, and pride ourselves on looking after campers and repeat business, we also have had the highest rating possible (Platinum) from the Council Rating Standards since 2016, and hope to retain that for this year.

Just back from a weekend @ Silverstone - stayed here for 2 nights - what a gem.
We stayed in our motorhome with electric hookup, used the shower Facilities & washing up sinks, all communal areas were kept clean and tidy, we had no complaints.
Much quieter and less cramped than the other two sites for Silverstone which were full to bursting.
Staff on Dadford were brilliant, friendly & incredibly helpful.
I definitely recommend.

+1
We booked here with family & friends for the British GP. It is very basic but it’s clean and staff are helpful and friendly as is everyone onsite. Didn’t find the hairdryer station & on site shop was a bit of a trek & hard to find, son drove there 🤷🏻♀️. It is very basic but didn’t have to queue for showers or the loo once. Plenty of loo roll, showers very hot. It’s very close to entrances onto the circuit, 20 minute walk.
Great atmosphere on site too with the “Lando” chanting !!!!
To sum up I’d say it’s close, basic but does the job! It’s camping, not sure why negative reviews from last year it’s never going to be 5⭐️
We had a great weekend and we’d definitely stay again !
Thank you to all the staff & everyone who worked hard this weekend! The girl cleaning the toilets & showers deserves a 🏅
No problem getting on or off site, arrived 11am Thursday, left 9 ish Monday, traffic management good

The location being semi-close to the Silverstone race track is the only thing positive about it.
Having camped regularly for the Grand Prix at various sites. Dadford was by far the worst. It was utterly chaotic. The site is vast with definitely not enough toilets on site especially for ladies. The fields were littered with sheep poo. There was no entertainment. It was clear the site was opened up for the weekend to make maximum profit without spending to make sure camping guests were comfortable. Avoid at all costs. Whittlebury Park again next time!

Laura, We have a lot of people who come back year on year and camp with us. We are sorry to hear you didn't enjoy it as much as Whittlebury Park. I'm not sure where you camped on site but we have invested our profits in to permanent toilet and shower blocks over the years and keep improving the facilities. We hired in additional facilities too this year. As a family run business that has run camping for F1 for the last 30 years we find your review upsetting. We have never provided entertainment and do not plan to. We really appreciate our repeat customers business and are sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay with us.

Very well organised campsite for the motogp 2024! Staff were friendly and helpful on arrival and during our stay. On the Friday morning the showers were scalding hot and the lady was really efficient in getting it sorted and allowed our 9 Yr old daughter to shower in the disabled showers.
No entertainment on site which we prefer as there was plenty of space for us to throw a Frisbee around and felt very safe with our little one going off for a wander on her bike around the site.
We were expecting a long bike ride in to the circuit but the ehu field they put us in was really close.. decent sized pitches too!
Snack wagon on site was handy for a quick bite on Thursday afternoon and Sunday night - Again the staff were very friendly. All in all a very decent stay.
Well done Dadford Road we will be coming back again next year !!
