Room, wifi and food were great. I would have preferred to be nearer the town, but that wasn't our choice. However, we did not discover there was a breakfast menu, over and above what was on offer in the buffet, until the last night of our stay. No menus in the rooms or on display in the restaurant. Apparently it is online, but who knew? This is a major failing, not to tell customers of the options they have. In addition, a member of our group was disturbed by building work in her corridor at 7 a.m.. The manager was very apologetic, but it should never have happened.
Just had a wonderful stay at the Hogs Head Inn, Alnwick There with my husband, sister and brother in law, for 5 nights exploring the area and wanted a clean, central base. Ticked all the boxes, the staff couldn't do enough for you, rooms spacious, an ideal spot. An excellent stay, would highly recommend it, well worth the 6 hours drive from Kent.
Stayed here for a family wedding nearby , followed by a couple of days exploring the area. Whilst not the cheapest , it was certainly worth every penny. There is ample , easy parking . A request for a room for a wheel chair user resulted in a spacious , specially adapted room with a fabulous shower room. Access throughout the hotel and bar/ restaurant was easy. After a very comfortable sleep , breakfasts were amazing. A buffet service meant that whatever you wanted was instantly there. The evening meals are well recommended - the fish and chips were fantastic! The staff were all very helpful without being intrusive. Honestly can't find a single downside to our stay and if we are ever in the area again, we wouldn't go anywhere else.
Excellent stay in this recently refurbished facility. Great location for exploring Northumbria. Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely dinner & breakfast in the on-site restaurant. Rooms very comfortable, great value for money. Highly recommended.
We stayed here with our dog during August 2021 - sadly The Hog's Head Inn does not represent good value. Essentially it is an upmarket, overpriced Travelodge with a restaurant. Nothing wrong with Travelodges - I use them a lot; I wouldn't pay in excess of £125 a night to stay in one though. The food is extremely poor value and the restaurant is very badly lit - I struggled to see the food I was eating. For the prices they are charging you could easily find something with much more character and charm in Alnmouth or a nearby town.
My partner and I stayed at the Hogs Head for one night, our first time. Check in was quick. The room was very spacious including the ensuite. Nice touches including table and chair, good hospitality tray, sleep masks and ear plugs. We found the room warm and clean. The bar area was lovely, plenty of tables/seats to choose from, well stocked bar. We ordered fish and chips absolutely delicious cooked perfectly. The only negatives were the dated bathroom, no toiletries just hand cleanser, no sockets next to the bed to recharge phones, and unfortunately the breakfast was a let down. Arriving for breakfast there was no bread left, this was eventually replenished, no milk kept next to the coffee percolator so had to walk back to where the cereal was with 2 hot cups of coffee, no choice of cooked egg only fried which had run out, again replenished but took a while. The toaster only toasted on one side very lightly so I put the slice in again and it came out burnt on both sides. So breakfast was lack lustre and a bit of a rigmarole. Leaving on a positive the staff were all polite, friendly and professional.…
We stayed one night. The room was spacious but dusty shelves and bathroom and cold at night. Slow service at the over priced bar. The evening meal was was not nice at all. Breakfast was better. Good quality bacon but all cold.
Lovely spacious rooms , very clean , staff very friendly. Loved the whole look of the hotel , the beans and decor are lovely. Nice spacious courtyard with outside play area children . Ample car parking Enjoyed staying here and would stay again
Stay here just before Christmas with my Mother The staff were wonderful and our bed was very comfortable nice clean and friendly and the vegetarian soup was the best soup I have ever tasted Will definitely stay here again when we travel back up to the north east
Our first new years eve since 2019 at the hogshead and we have been coming for a few years now and as always what an excellent time we had, food was lovely and the band was excellent entertainment the only issues we had was the couple of cocktails we had at £8 a shot I would have expected them to be better than they were you shouldn't have ice floating in porn star or espresso martini they are done in a shaker and strained the porn star was far to bitter because an ingredient had been missed it was remade by someone who new how to make them but other than that the floor staff were very pleasant and efficient your bar staff need to learn to smile it does cost anything
