This tower is amazing - fully deserves its 5 stars. All mod cons, the layout intelligently thought out.thought ,and my wife and I, both in our late 70's had no difficulties with all those steps at all The surrounding coast and and landscapes - breathtaking. Our only disappointment? The grey squirrels have taken over the Washington area. When we were last in this area 15 years ago, we saw many red squirrels - this time - none!

This was our fourth visit to the cottages and they are in a lovely location, the wildlife and walking trails are wonderful, we’ve seen nesting birds feeding their young when visiting in June and July and loads of seals in September. There’s nowhere quite like it for beaches, castles and big skies and the night skies are amazing too. The cottages are clean and very well equipped with lovely gardens and close to Belford where there is a co op and chip shop. The Swan at Warenford serves wonderful food, as does the Joiners Arms at High Newton by the Sea and the Ship at Low Newton by the Sea. Lindsfarne (Holy Island) is a must see, and numerous other castles in the area are well worth a visit.

Our fourth visit, like many who have discovered these wonderful properties we keep coming back. Exceptional location , close to the most beautiful places to visit on the wonderful Northumbrian coast, whilst enjoying a tranquil rural setting. With the incredibly beautiful Ross sands literally on the doorstep and the added advantages of access to the stargazing observatory and private bird hide this place has a lot to offer. The maintenance of these properties is superb, with spotlessly clean interiors, top quality appliances and an exceptional level of comfort. Everything you need for high quality self catering is here. Every detail has been well thought out and the experienced team at Ross and Outchester deal with any issues promptly and professionally with a smile. The beautiful grounds are expertly maintained by David, who is a pleasure to deal with. This time we enjoyed using the new stargazing hut at Ross. David showed us how to open the roof and use the telescope and we chose a clear night to get some views of planets as our first attempt at astronomy. We love the wildlife at Ross, from the hares that run around the fields full of wild flowers, to the wonderful sparrows thriving outside our window. The bird hide is a special treat for us, with exclusive views over a little corner of Budle Bay. Fresh oysters are available from the farm as Lindisfarne Oysters are harvested here. We hope to keep returning to this wonderful place, as it has become a favourite location for us. Highly recommend for a relaxing holiday in this beautiful area

We have just returned from a fabulous week at The Ducket. We were so impressed with it. The refurbishment of this listed building has been well thought out. It is very clean, cosy and has everything you could possibly want - even binoculars and a telescope are available. It is quite remote and the views from the top floors are amazing. There are some great walks in the area and Budle Bay is about 1 mile away - great for watching the birds on the mud flats. We also saw Roe Deer each evening in the adjoining fields. We would love to stay here again next time we come to Northumberland.

Great location, 20 minutes walk from Ross Back Sands Beach. The beach is beautiful and deserted. Great for bodyboarding, surfing and kiteboarding. Cottage very comfortable. All home comforts provided. Lovely spacious enclosed garden for children and puppy! 15 minutes drive to Bamburgh with castle, pubs and cafes. Dave (caretaker) very friendly and offers stargazing telescope and family canoe free of charge. We didn’t use due to storm Francis and very wet weather for the majority of the week. Despite this, we were very comfortable and had a lovely holiday. Recommend the White Swat at Warenford for great pub food.

We stayed at Ross Cottages in August 2020. Our cottage (Skylark) was clean, very spacious and well appointed with plenty of cutlery, crockery and a good selection of self catering equipment (including a separate freezer). The cottage and garden were beautifully maintained and very peaceful. Location was perfect for Ross Back Sands Beach, a new discovery after very many years holidaying in Northumberland. The walk was an easy 15/20 mins for adults and older children. Communication was excellent, and an item left behind was quickly returned to us. We’d highly recommend, either as a base to explore Northumberland or for easy access to a beautiful and largely empty beach.

We have been visiting Outchester and Ross Cottages for the past 5 years and have had 6 stays ( 5 at The Beacons, Ross Farm and once at The Ducket, Outchester). We take regular UK cottage breaks but rarely return to the same place twice which should tell you how good Ross Farm is. Location is fabulous, so close to the beautiful and peaceful Ross Sands Beach, but the accommodation is also extra special. Beacons Cottage is so homely and warm ( we generally go in colder weather and take advantage of the log burner) and is extremely well equipped. We always get a very warm welcome from David ( caretaker) and appreciate his helpful advice and friendly banter. There is so much to do along the wonderful Northumberland Coast and we can’t wait for our next visit Thanks to all the team for ensuring we have a great relaxing break

The Ducket is a unique, quirky building with fabulous views of the coast and the hills. A wonderful place to celebrate my 60th birthday. We were greeted by David and his friendly smile, who kindly advised us, what was where and came bearing gifts. We visited Bamburgh, Holy Island and Alnmouth. Ate at The Barn at Beal then back to the Ducket to enjoy all the comforts of home. We certainly enjoyed our stay, the peace and quiet, seeing loads of wildlife and the milky way which was magical to see. A lot of work has gone into restoring this wonderful building and is well worth a visit especially for any kind of celebration or treat or just something different.

Been visiting this area for many years and always wanted to stay at Ross. This year I bit the bullet and booked for New Year as we both had the week off work. We stayed in Oystercatcher cottage which sleeps six people, with one double and two twin rooms, a shower room, and a bathroom upstairs. My son and his girlfriend were able to join us for the first three nights. Love the location and luckily the good weather allowed us to have some good walks. Ross sands are beautiful and quieter than Bamburgh. The cottage was warm, comfortable and well equipped, although the mattress was a little too firm for me and took a while to get used to. We didn’t have any hot water for the first 36 hours but David was very good at getting it sorted and the plumber arrived on the Monday morning. We were given the option of showering at the Coastguard cottages. The nearest shops, pubs etc are in Belford, just over 3 miles away. During our stay we ate at the Castle Inn in Bamburgh and also highly recommend the Black Bull at Lowick. Would love to visit again, it was a very relaxing stay.

We spent a wonderful week in Sandpiper Cottage with our daughter at the end of September. My husband is disabled after suffering a stroke so accessibility was very important to us. We were not disappointed as apart from a deep step to enter the cottage both at the front & back everything else was perfect. They had even supplied a raised toilet seat. David, the Caretaker said if we were to return he would solve the entry problem for us. The cottage was immaculately clean & extremely well stocked with crockery, cutlery & cooking utensils which made self catering very easy. The linen & towels were also of a very good quality. This cottage is suitable for all age groups as there is a lovely garden with a swing & climbing frame for youngsters. A ten minute walk down the lane & across a field & sand dunes takes you to a breathtaking beach. We will certainly recommend to friends & hope to return soon.
