The award-winning South Meadows Caravan Park and Campsite is perfectly positioned for visitors who want to make the most of North Northumberland’s spectacular coast and countryside. We’re just a short distance from miles of sandy beaches and the beautiful village of Bamburgh with its imposing castle, Seahouses and its boat trips to the Farne Islands, the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, and the Scottish Borders. Our location close to the A1 means the historic market towns of Alnwick, with its famous castle and gardens, and Berwick upon Tweed, are in easy reach too. Our 40-acre site welcomes holiday home owners, seasonal and touring caravans and tents. Plus we’re pet-friendly, so your dog can come on holiday too

This review is different, because I haven’t actually used the facilities at South Meadows, but my sister and her fella have a caravan based there, so I’m going to share my thoughts on what I’ve seen. The site seems extremely well set out, with adequate privacy whichever pitch

We have toured all over GB and this site really is one of the best. It is beautifully kept and maintained and is in a great position just one mile from the A1 near Bamburgh and Holy Island. We stopped over for a couple of nights en route to Edinburgh and wished we could have

I decided at the last minute to do some walking in Northumberland and hadn't organised anywhere to stay. I found the campsite and turned up in the evening, and although reception was closed there was a number to call and I was told to find a spot to put my tent up without any

Stayed here for 3 nights in our motorhome. The reasons I have only rated this park as an average is as follows + Well maintained park + Great pitches with water + Modern toilet & shower block + Friendly staff + Lovely village of Belford only a short walk away with a great pub

Response from SimonD3928, Manager at South Meadows Caravan Park
Responded 20 Dec 2018
Thank you for taking the time to review our park. I would like to take this opportunity to address the points you have made. From your comments, I have assumed that you were staying on the Willows area of the site: Floors – The floor in the new toilet/shower facility could potentially be a slip hazard immediately after the cleaners have been there. However, the underfloor heating usually dries the floor quite quickly and the staff always make sure wet floor signage is set out. Chemical Disposal Point – There are 2 chemical disposal points on the park, one of which is in the Willows camping area, the second one is behind the reception building. A third one is planned to be added in the Willows area, next to the new toilet facility, for spring 2019. Barrier – There is a security barrier near reception which covers that part of the site which includes seasonal tourers and private static owners, i.e. those customers who don’t move their vans as frequently as the touring clients. We have had very few, if any, incidents regarding crime on the site and so the logistical inconvenience to customers of installing a second barrier has been considered unnecessary. However, we will continue to monitor the situation and review this as required. Security Cameras – The cameras have been installed inside communal areas of the new toilet and shower facility and are there for the safety and security of our customers, staff and the facilities. All the cameras are positioned in accordance with current legislation. You are welcome to visit our website to read the privacy statement which covers this. Bins – Most of our customers are within 60m of a refuse point although some maybe up to 120m away. The refuse areas are situated on the main drive to ensure no one ends up with of having one situated very close to their pitch and to separate the heavy-duty bin wagons from the busy customer and children areas. We hope you do come back in the future and we would be pleased to discuss with you a pitch which would be preferable to you. Reception – The Reception office is situated centrally to the whole park. The furthest pitch may be up to 200m away but, after booking in, most customers don’t need to make regular visits to reception and currently this is not enough of customer issue to need to consider a second reception. Cement Factory – There can be some noise from the factory but never after 4.30pm and rarely at the weekends. During the day, most customers are out and about so this rarely presents a problem. Again, if you do revisit the park, we could offer you a pitch on Cherry Drive which is further into the park and in a quieter area. We operate a programme of continual improvement and development of the park and so we welcome your feedback, good and bad, and we thank you for taking the time to write your review and giving us the opportunity to respond.

Very good site with excellent facilities. Well located to visit a range of places both coastal and inland. Ideal for families with a good playground. Although no shop available there are local shops close by.
