Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The hotel felt so cosy, warm and welcoming especially on chilly November days. Amazing value for money with the great Winter deal which gives £26 back per person per night, towards food. The staff were wonderful - friendly, helpful and the standard of service was excellent. Enjoyable bar meals with a varied menu for main course. Perhaps the starter and sweet selection were a little limited but overall the food was of a good standard. A particularly well-presented breakfast - recommend the delicious Full English. Comfy rooms with the added bonus of a two-seater sofa. Effective and easy to control heating which certainly helped with the snug feeling of the bedrooms. Gorgeous Rington's biscuits as an indulgent addition to the coffee/tea making facility. Lovely shower with shampoo, conditioner, handcream and handwash provided in the bathroom. On top of everything, the hotel is only a few miles away from Northumbrian attractions such as Holy Island, Berwick upon Tweed, Flodden Field, Ford and Bamburgh Castles, St Cuthbert's Cave, and a hop and skip to the Scottish Border over the iconic Chain Bridge. We enjoyed a wonderful stay. Will certainly be back.

Warm welcome after a long wet and cold November drive! Good evening food at the bar, and a great freshly cooked breakfast. Good value for money too. Pub is only a couple of miles from Lindisfarne, so a good base for a day on the Island. Highly recommended..

Best accommodation value for money we have encountered during our 30-day UK trip. We received a B&B plus evening meal deal which was unbelievably good value. Excellent location for visiting Holy Island and with a filling station right next door. Also close to Bamburgh Castle, St Aidan's Church and the Grace Darling Museum.

A very dog friendly place, friendly front of house staff and great value on winter break deal.... BUT so let down by evening meals. Only one out of four evening meals was served hot, on time and complete. First night a curry took over 1.5 hours to be served pasta take away. Another night included onion rings omitted from service - when arrived soggy and not fully cooked. Third night meal was cold - from previous evenings could be bothered to wait for a hot version. From when the kitchen door was open it seemed to be in a state of permanent chaos with not enough staff to meet demand. I blame management rather than the staff who all seemed to be working hard and always apologetic when a problem. I really wanted to give a 5 star review and if not for the repeatedly poor kitchen performance I would have done so. Such a shame as some many positives here.

Great value for money on winter breaks. Friendly landlord and staff. Warm comfortable room and good food. Location is ideal for visiting many of the beautiful sights in the Borders. Bamburgh, Holy Island and over the border to Eyemouth or St Abb’s to name but a few. A walker or cyclists ideal inn.

The food quality and presentation was completely different for the same dishes on consecutive nights and compared to previous inn in same chain. No consistency. What I enjoyed so much first time that I ordered a second night bore no resemblance to how it came second night so that it was really not recognisable as same menu choice.

Arrived for 10th Wedding Anniversary, brought parents with us. Both rooms were immaculate and clean, comfortable and warm. We were on the Winter deal direct through the site, amazing offer. Room, £26 per person to use on food and Full English breakfast next day worth £12.50 per person. Working that out, we realised we got the room for only £12 per couple, unbelievable. Staff Staff were amazing and friendly, couldn’t ask for more. Food The food was restaurant class. Well presented, amazing taste. Highly recommend the stake. Breakfast was a large full breakfast, lovely and well presented. Overall, amazing deal. Next to Holy Island (10 min drive). Close to Berwick on Tweed centre (10 mins). Highly recommend a visit, will be staying again.

We enjoyed our stay and would happily return but the company running the hotel should be ashamed of the pressure they put their staff under. Two running the bar and restaurant seating plus one in the kitchen (I presume due to confusion and lack of quality control first night) is simply not enough. They work so hard the place runs well…. Just. One more thing - the seven quid sticky toffee pudding is school dinner standard and portion size too so best avoided.

We have been to this hotel many times but this time was poor. On check in our room was not ready. We had booked and confirmed a table for dinner but it had not been reserved Many items on the menu, both food and drink were unavailable Due to only 2 staff being on duty they were unable to serve non residents Food was not up to its usual standard One thing I would be positive about was Callum ( 1 of the 2 staff on duty ) he went out of his way to do all he could and that was not easy. The Inn collection has always provided excellent standards wherever we have stayed. Not this time, if this is new management then something is very wrong and we will sadly have to look elsewhere if this remains the norm. Very disappointed
