Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We arrived shortly after midday as we had a bar lunch booked, the Sunday roast was delicious and would 100% recommend! The atmosphere of the whole place is warm and welcoming with lots of lovely sofas to relax while soaking up the heat from the open fires, a lovely touch! The room In which we stayed was so cozy, well laid out and couldn’t fault it! Such a comfy cozy nights sleep! Breakfast was delicious, clean, fresh and well presented! The evening staff were so happy and helpful with lots of smiles, however my only improvement suggestion would be that the staff that greeted us on the Sunday afternoon were not the most welcoming and lacked enthusiasm and delight. The young girl who was waiting tables never spoke a word to us, a bit uncomfortable for all people involved. Apart from that we will definitely be back!! Thank you!!!

Really good with some minor niggles. Dinner was superb - a fabulous chef. Bar was noisy though. Breakfast was good although buffet choices were a bit limited. No yoghurt available on the first morning. We were very disappointed that the bed wasn't made in the morning- we have never experienced that elsewhere. Our room/suite was beautiful and the bathroom and toiletries were very nice. We found the room very cold (it was a chilly September weekend) but nobody answered when we tried to call reception. Overall, we were satisfied but we'd expect the small details to be right for the price paid.

I will start by saying the food is absolutely excellent. The rooms and some of the service however are not. The room was tired with peeling lining paper on the ceiling and a particularly marked carpet. The staffing levels were also well below what was needed and the cleaning of the room was almost comical….only change towels if wringing wet; don’t hoover the floor and won’t make the bed. Should be such a nice place….

Great atmosphere, lovely premises and welcoming. We love to visit when we can. Food can sometimes be a bit hit and miss, but most times it’s ok. Staff work hard, as there aren’t many, but service is fine.

Great hotel with a fabulous restaurant. We stayed overnight after driving from Aberdeenshire. The room was lovely and clean and a good size. We had a drink in the bar and enjoyed a traditional ale. We ate in the restaurant, including starters, main courses and dessert. Every dish was presented perfectly and tasted delicious. Breakfast was made to order and of excellent quality.

We had a very pleasant stay in this lovely hotel. The room we were in was very spacious and well decorated. The food was good for a hotel restaurant. All the common areas were really nice. The garden was a treat given the great weather.

Stayed for one night as we passed through. Rooms are big but outdated. Shower head was good but flooded quickly. Rooms don’t have blockout blinds Customer service on arrival and at bar was same person, was pleasant but not interactive as was spending time talking and drinking with the regulars at bar.

We were invited out for Sunday lunch at the Collingwood early May 2023 and enjoyed the food so much that we rebooked for the end of the same month. The menu at Sunday lunch is set and from recollection, three choices per course. It is a set price. I had the smoke salmon starter (which was outstanding) followed by the roast sirloin beef (from a local butcher) and I couldn’t manage a dessert. We managed to book a table in the restaurant on both occasions. We will return but would always book well in advance to save disappointment in not being able to get a table.

Delicious Sunday lunch. The food here is consistently good and the service excellent. My husband had the terrine and I had the smoked trout to start, followed by lamb for him and beef for me. Morning coffee here first followed by a walk at Flodden with our dog. Then back again for lunch. We won’t be waiting too long before we’re back again.

We were given a weekend break as a Christmas gift and enjoyed it very much. We liked the art work and furnishings. Our room ( Polyphemus) was clean and comfortable with a huge bed and couch which was appreciated. Plenty of storage too. The bathroom had a fab shower and bath with plenty of hot water, lovely Molton Brown toiletries and big towels. The food was delicious and plentiful…dinner and breakfast. Staff were all chatty and friendly. (The room did have a strange noise which was not evident on our first day/ night but it was there after that, don’t know if it was an extractor or the central heating) It is dog friendly. Lots of places to visit within easy driving.
