Travellers' Choice
Beacon Hill Farm has 15 Gold Award cottages set in 20 acres of gardens in the centre of a 360 acre estate near the Northumbrian coast. We also have a Treehouse and 3 luxury Shepherds Huts- all sleeping two. We have a fabulous onsite Spa a short walk through the gardens from all the cottages. Beacon Hill is a wonderful place from which to discover the beauties that Northumberland offers from the heritage coast to Alnwick Garden. We are ideally positioned to visit the many National Trust properties in the area.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was our first visit to Beacon Hill and it most certainly won't be our last! Chris was the most fabulous host from start to finish, excellent communication, friendly and welcoming, we felt very much at home. We booked last minute and got just what we were looking for; space, peace and recharge. We spent the whole of Saturday enjoying the site not even getting in the car. Our two small children had plenty to do, from the play barn to the park, woods and free range farm animals. Total freedom in a safe and welcoming place. The spa was fabulous too - easy to book and most of the time we were the only family in there! We stayed in Ash cottage, compact but perfectly formed and spotless. Gorgeous views. Our absolute highlight (there were so many!), was cooking lunch over the fire in the woods. No wait, watching our tiny lass conquer the climbing wall in the play barn. No, it was definitely seeing the full moon through the telescope. No, the discovery of Meg's Lake and the flock of Canadian Geese who we intruded upon. No, it was the 'chicken' laying an egg on our wall for our excited girls to discover.... Precious moments and we will be back soon.

Another perfect visit, just spent the weekend at Beacon hill with all the family and we just didn’t want to leave. We had two cottages and there was absolutely everything you could possibly need for your stay, and more! The beds are extremely comfortable, possibly nicer than my own. The kids enjoyed all of the facilities, especially the pool. Very tranquil with fantastic views. We are definitely going to book for next year and thinking of an extra shepherds hut visit in the summer. Thanks Chris and Alun Highly recommend :)

We had the most fabulous stay at the Treehouse at Beacon Hill! The accommodation is incredible….such a peaceful and relaxing place to stay with the best views. The treehouse was spotlessly clean and the welcome flowers, honey, coffee and bottle of wine was such a lovely touch. Our favourite part was lying in bed in the morning, reading a book with a coffee and the sliding doors open… We also used the spa facilities which were excellent. We will definitely be back!!!!

We love Beacon Hill! Since our first visit with our six year old, to this year’s with him just about to leave school, we’ve been delighted with the cosy houses, swimming pool, quiet atmosphere and care that Alun and Christopher clearly take to make sure all is perfect. Next we get to look forward to coming as a couple, although we’re sure our son will still make an appearance.

We stayed in the hideaways and were very impressed with all the little touches. Very cosy and beds were super comfy. Facilities were great, loved how you could book the pool/sauna area and have the place to yourselves for your time selected, was very chilled. We stayed as a couple but would definitely bring our 2 young kids back because Facilities looked great for kids and even had games room for big kids! Was such a nice stay😊

A fabulous family break (even in a rainy half term week!). The overall facilities are so well thought out. The cottage was spotless, genuinely fully equipped and so cosy. The endless log supply is a lovely touch. The hosts are accessible but not overbearing. The sausage sizzle and marshmallow toasting in the woods was probably the highlight. I was a bit unsure how the booking system for the pool would work but it was great, and meant that the pool was never overly busy. I’m not sure there is anything I would fault, and we would book again without hesitation. I only wish they had a 4+ bedroom cottage available so we could go with friends and stay in a single property!

Beacon farm was amazing!we had so much fun!We even heard a owl or two and saw chickens! It was extremely funny when my daddy pretended that the croquet pitch was chicken hurdles!Apparently it’s 1 of the best places in the world to go star gazing so it is good they have a observatory! They also had a trampoline, spa, swimming pool, playground, play barn, games room, football pitch, basketball pitch, tennis court and mini tractors for little kids.By the way, this review was by Jenny’s daughter.

Just back from a wonderful long weekend with friends (5 adults, 7 kids - 16,15,13,13,13,11,10). Had north and south granary which were perfect for us with lots of kitchen supplies etc. The pool was great and the booking system allowed our two cottages to have plenty of pool time (without disturbing other guests). The spa and pool were great with plenty of space and provided soap and hair dryers. The only suggestion would be to reduce the temp on the beds and the jacuzzi …they were way too hot. We enjoyed the Harry Potter trail in the woods but only managed 17 out of the 20 clues… even after going back in for a second look. We loved all the provisions for the sausage sizzle, certainly a highlight of the weekend. The games room was fabulous but could maybe do with a radio or music player for when the kids are hanging out. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms had plenty of space , hair and body wash and towels. We ate in most nights and got a pizza from Morpeth on one night. The complementary red wine was very nice. We tried to use the telescope one night but didn’t have any joy. There were stars in the sky but we couldn’t see a thing, so unsure if it was aligned or not or user error. That said, the kids loved the star gazing experience and the binoculars and blankets were fab. The park and trampoline were great but with the wet weather we had, the pitch was like a swamp, nothing wellies didn’t fix. A great find and will hopefully be back., hopefully better weather the next time.

When we were looking for a holiday, we wanted something unusual and different, we hit the jackpot with Beacon Hill Farm! We booked the Treehouse for 4 nights and it was the best place we have ever stayed, anywhere. On arrival we were met by Christopher who gamely loaded our luggage onto the golf buggy and trundled the short distance to the Treehouse. The first thing we saw on entering was the fantastic view stretching for miles then immediately we were even more excited by the interior design which was pure perfection everywhere. A welcome pack was provided which included fresh flowers, yellow roses in our case, such a lovely touch. The Treehouse offers not only this superb distant view but it is also situated on the edge of beautiful woodland. Also on site is the spa with the pool which is easy to book and lots of other facilities to enjoy. We thoroughly recommend this as a destination and have been telling all our family and friends how lovely it is and we are definitely looking to book it again in 2024! We heartily thank you, Alun and Christopher.
