Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Bedroom wasn’t as good as previously stayed in. Hard mattress, cheap pillows and quilt, bed frame rocked every time you moved. Noise from extractor in kitchen!! Evening meal tasteless. Best part was Breakfast. Cleaning material, bedding, hover left out on landing so not a good view! Outside area to bedrooms was very shabby. Such as shame as could be amazing!

I booked a table for lunch weeks ago for 4 people for Monday 29th Jan travelling from Eshott, Gateshead and Durham for a friends birthday. I rang on Sunday to ask if we could add one more person . The guy informed me we could and said he had altered the booking. We arrived in the pouring rain to find the restaurant closed! I rang the number and a guy answered saying he was the painter and they were closed Monday Tuesday and Wednesday in January! Absolutely furious is a understatement My friends birthday ruined !

Took 50 mins till they took our food order, we ended up having to go and ask them in the end , was one large table of a birthday and a baby shower which probably didn’t help matters but like even on a Saturday night the place should be packed, we ended up being the only ones in at the end! The food quality was good mind! May return, but will allow ourselves plenty of time and not plan anything the rest of the day due to how slow the service was!

The Margarita Pizza looked fabulous and was hot but it had absolutely no taste. The Game Pie again was visually excellent from the outside but the inside of the pastry was gloopy so left most of the pie casing. Strangely though the meat/poultry pieces were on the dry side. The gravy over the pie was good as were the triple cooked chips which were a bit heavy on the salt but still tasty. I considered the portion size small and was suprised you could not get a vegetable mix with it, as no vegetables came with the meal and the only option to add was for sprouting purple broccolli. The staff were friendly and the restaurant, bar and toilet facilities were all very clean

Amazingly warm welcome from Allana and Nick when we arrived for food. We were shown around this beautiful building and offered a seat by the bar next to a Cozy warm fire listening to Christmas songs by the elegant Christmas tree and enjoying a drink while we waited for the restaurant opening. First course we had the pigeon with foie gras which was absolutely stunning and the wife had the croquettes with black garlic and truffle. For mains I had the chicken Kiev pizza which was a solid 10 out of 10. Crispy thin base, succulent chicken and the crust had been basted In garlic butter. Utterly amazing. The wife had the beetroot risotto, and judging by the fact that she didn't speak for 15 minutes must have meant it was also a success. No room for dessert. I have to admit that having such high quality food, in a beautiful environment with amazing staff we had no other choice but to book to come back. We can't thank Allana, Nick and the guys enough for making our first visit something special. Can't wait to dine in the pods next time and maybe treat ourselves to an overnight stay.

We had never stayed at St Mary's Inn before and did not know what to expect. As it turns out, we had a great experience. The staff were lovely and extremely helpful and the food....wow, just wow! I had the venison and my wife had a beef pie, both were fantstically well presented and tasted truly amazing. I have not had better and we have travelled a lot. Washed down with a beautiful St Emillion Grand Cru, life just does not get any better. Our room was very comfortable and a really good size. And, very, very, very quiet. Oh man, I loved that. We had a big family Sunday lunch as well, the purpose of our trip North and the food was excellent as was the service. A quick post dinner snifter in the bar was fab too as the locals were so welcoming and friendly. What a lovely place. We shall return.

Booked for sunday lunch as had seen lots of facebook posts from St Marys Inn and had been wanting to visit for a while. Booked a table on the way back to Seahouses from the Living North Fair. Lovely place, beautifu decor and friendly staff. Excellent value sunday lunch menu. Both had the roast beef, very tasty with huge portions and cooked to perfection. Asked for extra yorkshire puddings and gravy and ordered a side of chipolatas. Beautfiul and very good value for money. Nick our server was excellent. Made us feel very welcome. Will come next time with your dog as it seems they are made to feel very welcome. 10/10 Couple from Seahouses

This is the second time we've stayed here as it is conveniently located for us visiting friends who live in different parts of Northumberland. We also stayed here last year and the service and experience we had was just as good second time around. The staff are all very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The food (breakfast and dinner) is excellent and means there is no need to go elsewhere for meals. The room is very clean as is the rest of the hotel. We will definitely stay here again next time we travel up to visit our friends. Highly recommended!
