Cleanliness is often highlighted, with rooms and public areas maintaining high standards. The atmosphere is deemed welcoming, blending traditional and modern elements, although updates are suggested. Located overlooking the harbour at Seahouses, which is a pleasant little town in a lovely coastal setting, this is a good base for exploring the area, with bus connections to Berwick or down to Newcastle (one bus every 2 hours or so) and some hourly services to nearer destinations such as Alnmouth.

You can walk along the beach up to the spectacular Bamburgh castle or down to Beadnell in the other direction, or take a cruise out to the Farne Islands or to Holy Island (Lindisfarne).

The hotel is dog-friendly and the restaurant is cozy with great views out over the harbour. Food is competent standard pub fare, though (along with drinks) possibly a touch expensive, but service is quite efficient, although to order food or drinks involves queuing at the bar and things can get quite busy at peak times. However, once ordered, food arrived promptly and the staff are helpful and friendly.

Rooms are clean and comfortable with good-sized larger beds, but be aware that some of the rooms on the first floor have fairly small windows and can get a little dark. The rooms on the second (top) floor might be a better choice, particularly since, as with many establishments, some noise is noticeable through the ceiling from the floor above.

The harbour is nice and quiet; while there is an access road in front of the hotel, it is not a through road and hence traffic is very light and you can open your window and drift off to the gentle sound of the sea without being disturbed by other noise.

There is also an outside beer garden with extensive sea views, if you prefer to dine or drink 'al fresco'.

This is not an establishment to book if you want a concierge, room service and a wake up call. However, if you would like to enjoy a few days relaxing in a lovely location, especially if you have dogs, this is a very good choice, and my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights Sat-Sun, booked a sea view room which is a little bit extra but with the winter deal which included BB and evening meal, each person allocated £22 towards your evening meal. Meals are a bit pricey but food lovely, big menu to chose from. Rooms are not ready until 2-30 which is fair enough. Car park quite small, but if car Park full you can use large public car park across the road which if you are staying you will be given price back at end of stay. Best to drop suitcases off at front door then park across the road. Room was large and very warm with good view of harbour and sea view. Large cosy bed, open shelved wardrobe and bed side tables.good tv, tea coffee, hair drier, iron and board. Bathroom quite big with good size shower. Wall mounted soap dispenser not bad. Carpet clean. Breakfast was buffet style. Staff at the Bamburgh Castle inn work very hard to please your every needs.
The restaurant seating looks out on the Harbour. Well worth a visit and a stay.

Take no notice of the nay sayers , this hotel is a gem . We had a cracking stay over four nights , the food and drink was great ( with very little queuing ) , the room was comfortable with sea views and the young staff were a credit , nothing was too much for them . We felt very safe as every precaution was taken , with cleaning , ppe and social distancing and lastly the location of the hotel gave everyone wonderful views of the harbour , the Farne islands and Bamburgh castle . Go , you'll enjoy yourself .

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for two nights in a Kingsize room in the annexe on the winter saver rate which included breakfast and £24pp each night off dinner bill. Excellent value for money.

The room was lovely; so tastefully furnished and very clean. The bathroom was also lovely and very clean. We were on the first floor in the newer part of the hotel which is an annexe just across the car park.

Breakfasts were fabulous and the evening menu is fine with no waiting for food to arrive..

What really stands out about this hotel is the staff! Every single member of staff was friendly and helpful despite being so busy.

Covid was dealt with vey well with a one way system into and out of the building, screens between each table and table service.

We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and we will certainly be back.

Had 2 nights here in late August. Excellent measures to keep everybody safe- social distancing, careful cleaning of tables and other surfaces, and staff being very attentive to all protocols. The hotel felt very safe, but also very welcoming. In spite of unseasonable August weather we had a lovely couple of days!
NB car parking is limited but the hotel will reimburse costs from the public carpark opposite- where the first hour is free, as is parking between 6 pm and 8 am

After over a year without a holiday we wanted to choose a location we were familiar and had spoken about staying at some point in the future. The dog friendly rooms were are located on the patio floor with access to the beer garden. We were on the walking tariff which included an evening meal on the first night, a drink on arrival, packed lunch and breakfast. Got to say the staff were friendly and organised, with great quality rooms and fantastic location. Covid measures are in place with table service only, entry and exit routes and face masks when not seated at a table. That said we felt safe and loved a little break by the sea. Well done to all those involved in making our stay a great experience.

We stayed last week for 3 nights - bed breakfast and evening meal. We had a sea view room with balcony. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, polite & welcoming. The food was top quality - highlights were the hot, freshly cooked buffet breakfast, big fresh croissants and one of the best currys we've ever had (chicken narpiaza). The room was modern, well furnished, clean and very warm (appreciated considering it was freezing outside). The shower temperature could be a bit variable but the power was good. We sometimes got in the pub carpark, sometimes had to use the public one, but at just over a fiver for 24 hours and being just across the road, it wasn't a concern. Highly recommended.

We booked a sea view based on the description and photos on the website. We were shocked when we saw our room which bore no resemblance at all to the website photos. We paid £199 per night for this room with breakfast and stayed 3 nights and feel totally ripped off. Although expensive,at the time of booking we realised it was a busy time and we were totally taken in by the wonderful photos and description online. We based the excessive amount on the location, the 3 stars, the room description and the fact we were desperate to see our friends whom we were meeting after not seeing them for over a year. The room was clean and the bed comfy enough but it was very dull and a little tired looking, plus there was only just enough room to squeeze past the end of the bed to get to the shower room (no bath).

Due to covid restrictions, we were asked to exit the hotel at the car park and walk round to the front of the hotel and re-enter through the front door to join a queue for a table, every time we wanted a drink or food. As residents we felt there should have been a means of allowing us to stay within the hotel if we wanted to get a table, but we followed procedure. We ate in the pub restaurant on the first evening and the food was ok but when we wanted just a drink on the following afternoon we were told by the frosty front of house lady that we could only have the table for an hour! The pub wasn't even busy and there was nowhere else to go apart from our dismal room or outside into the rain. I think they need to allocate an area for residents (especially when those residents have paid so much money for the privilege of staying!) or at least waiver a time limit.

Breakfast was ok, but no fruit or pastries. Just the usual cereals, porridge or cooked breakfast. The toasted muffins were cremated so they had to be sent back as we couldn't get a knife through them.

Having said all that, the majority of the staff were really friendly and helpful and worked very hard.

To sum up, this is NOT a 3 star hotel and B & B wasn't worth any where near £199 for a sea view double. I would only recommend this hotel for a one night stop as it's not a hotel you can relax in. We definitely won't be choosing it again.

Stayed here for 2 nights in a garden room which was great for the dog, there was a lot of noise the first night, banging doors and some strange underground noises, which unsettled the dog a bit, went quiet after 23:00 but the second night was very quiet all night. They provide eye masks and ear plugs so must be aware of different noises. These were a lovely touch. The room itself was a lovely size and well equipped with everything you’d need during your stay. The food in the restaurant was lovely. The breakfasts were the best I’ve tasted in a hotel and I’ve stayed in quiet a few. Sausages were amazing. The full place is well set out post COVID and safety is clearly at the forefront for guests and staff alike. Every staff member we came across was friendly and helpful. My only niggle was I had booked a flexible rate which states to pay on arrival on my confirmation. When I checked in I was told it had been fully paid. I queried it but the gentleman said yes all paid. There were other guests before me that were asked to pay. I had used my card to guarantee the booking but my mam was going to pay on arrival. When I’ve checked my account I have been charged. I work in hotels myself and know this should only have happened if I’d booked an advance purchase rate. I have emailed and awaiting a reply. This is only a small niggle and hasn’t impacted our stay I only mention it to make others aware if they we’re doing the same as in guarantee with one card and pay with a different one. We are already looking at returning

I booked a family room for 3 nights in Aug 2022.

On arrival we were given a small lower ground floor room in the annex building with a small ensuite shower room. As this was at street level, the window was painted white / opaque and only opened about an inch. I complained the room was like a prison cell and we were moved for the following 2 nights to an upstairs room in the main building, above the pub. This was a larger room. The small window opened a few inches and the view was of someone else's balcony floor (not great). We were woken by noise from upstairs and downstairs in the morning.

The breakfast was very poor. There was a selection of hot food, but my kids and I don't eat a cooked breakfast so the options for us were cereal, bread and jam. There were no croissants or crumpets, no cheese and not a piece of fruit in sight.

We had dinner in the pub for my son's birthday. I had to buy my own candles for the dessert. Dinner (3 adult meals and one kids meal with a drink each) came to over £100... very expensive. The food was average. I would not eat here again.
