We were renting a cottage nearby and booked Sunday lunch here. The menu has a good selection of meat and fish. We had lamb roast and a game pie. The food was really really good. It's all pretty traditional and plain-this isn't a criticism at all. The veg wasn't over cooked. The lamb was so moist and tasty. Puddings included... More

Superb find on way to Jedburgh....... Cask Ale perfect. Food uncomplicated, local, fresh, say no more..... a kitchen not run around a deep fat fryer and a microwave! Sweets.... Well I had the bread and butter pudding. Best I've ever had!!! My only minor grumble would be the lack of back ground music although this may take away the one thing... More

This is a very late review of a two night stay back in August but I'm catching up now. Better late than never though eh? We were into the second week of a two week motorcycling holiday covering the Scottish borders, Northumberland and Wales and planned this stop well in advance using TripAdvisor reviews to make our accommodation selection. We... More

My husband and I chose to stay at 'The Pheasant' whilst visiting the Kielder Observatory'. What a find, we couldn't praise the place more highly. Our room just off the courtyard was perfect, very clean and bathroom very spacious. The staff were very friendly and the meals superb. The only blight on our trip was that it was very cloudy... Recommended by a friend and I recommend to you. Pheasant is family owned and run. Stannersburn is on edge of Kielder water with walks/cycle paths and multiple activity options close by. Skies are extremely dark in best place for no light pollution. Stannersburn is about 6 houses and the Pheasant. Full rooms and dining room speak for themselves. Food is... More

I've just got back from our 2 night stay at the Pheasant and what a treat it was. The rooms are cottagey and are plenty spacious and warm. I took my 87 year old, fairly disabled, mother and they did everything possible to make her comfortable. The food was nothing short of 5 star: loads of choices inc. Partridge, Game pie... More

Excellent accommodation. Very friendly staff. Meals first class - roast lamb was beautiful. Best pint John Smiths bitter I have had in a long time. Will recommend this to my friends if they are visiting Kielder forest.

Thank you for leaving us your review. Great to hear you enjoyed the lamb. The Smiths is a popular pint with locals, I'm a Timmy Taylors Landord fan so that's my preference. Thanks again More

My partner and I stayed here for two nights over August bank holiday whilst visiting the Lake Night Skies at Kielder Observatory. The Pheasant was perfect for our stay - upon arrival the staff were very welcoming & made sure we had directions to the Observatory. As we didn't return until 4am the next morning - we struggled to get... More

Thank you for taking time to leave us a review. The observatory busy season is now getting into full swing and we have lots of guests coming and going at all hours. The Sow Roasted Northumbrian Lamb is perhaps our best selling dish and a great locally sourced ingredient. Hope to see you back someday. More
