Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Overnight stay with friends for their wedding anniversary. Rooms are beautiful and so clean! Pleasantly surprised to find an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe too. Only gripe that I have is that the pillows were a little flat but didn't stop us having a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed. Bar downstairs was lovely, a little chilly but the welcome was more than warm enough. A lovely little bar/hotel that we'd be very happy to visit again.

Popped in for lunch on a weekday, there didn't seem to be anywhere else open for food, yet the town was generally busy. Really nice decor and extensive choice of food on the menu. The sandwiches arrived and they definitely were a bit meh for the price ! my main gripe was the description was incorrect for 'crispy' bacon. The bacon was fatty and far from crispy, it was borderline cooked - they couldn't have been pushed for time to cook it as there was only us and another couple in the restaurant !!! Won't recommend this place to friends/family as no matter how nice somewhere looks the food needs to deliver, especially at these prices.

We had dinner here and it was delicious! Service was great, friendly, very accommodating and down to earth. Food was excellent quality and very tasty. Menu is varied and something for everyone. Lovely relaxed atmosphere with good choice of music in the background.

I would rate this 5 stars for the convenient location, the reasonable rates for the area, the warm welcome, the friendly, attentive staff and the bar food (excellent hamburgers and fries). But if you are expecting a regular hotel, as we were, first impressions are not good. 'Reception' is the pub bar; the car park at the back is unkempt and not for nervous drivers; the stair carpet to our room had not been hoovered for many a day; our room was, let's say, cosy. It certainly bore no resembalnce to any of the spacious, airy rooms pictured on the website. The only window, like the extractor fan switch, could only be reached by standing on the bed. The window blinds were filthy. So - 3 stars. Even if they cover the damp patch on the bathroom ceiling, we shan't be staying in Room No 6 again.

I was here for a night as I walked St Cuthbert’s Way. I was warmly greeted and shown my room, which had a huge bathtub in the room. Luxury! I had a nice long soak. What a way to end a wet and windy day. Good food on order for dinner and breakfast included hot items. I went for the full Scottish and couldn’t finish it. Great place for weary walkers!

As there was no-where else open in Wooler for lunch we decided to eat here. Service poor. I had an halloumi burger. Best thing about it was the chips. Burger was very thin and looked and tasted as if it had been cooked 3 or 4 times. The halloumi was rock hard. Far too many dogs in the restaurant for our liking. Out of 4 tables occupied we were the only one without a dog. Not so long ago dogs weren't allowed in restaurants due to hygiene, why are they now not considered to be unhygienic.

I chose this hotel due to my previous visits over the last 7 years . The management has changed hands twice since my original visit . Iv stayed in the hotel , and the outlets in the grounds . Travelling on my own Iv found this hotel to be very affordable, accommodating and friendly. The town of Wooler is stunning , this hotel is the best on the street by far .

Very friendly and efficient. Great breakfast. Didn't eat an evening meal there - but it seems the food is very good. We were cycling the Sandstome Way and the manager, Mandy, was very accomodating in storing our bikes safely and our luggage for collection later in the day. Thanks Pete Riley

Just popped in at 10 pm for a nightcap to be told they close at 10 pm and asked to leave, somewhat abruptly. Unfriendly staff. There were people in there drinking, lights were on and door unlocked.
