Kelham House Country Manor Hotel was built as a private manor house in 1903 and became a hotel about 50 years later. Under new ownership since 2010 the hotel has been totally refurbished and extended to provide luxury accommodation at affordable prices. Situated in the outskirts of the historic Newark on Trent it provides a perfect location for business traveller, visitor to the area or as a venue for weddings, parties and meetings. As of July 2014 we are happy to announce our 3 star AA accreditation, as well as our first dining rosette awarded by the AA inspector for our a la carte menu.

Not sure what to say apart from “shambles” Kelham House is a superb looking building from the outside but once inside it’s downhill We asked if restaurant was open for lunch but only bar was open. We sat, ordered a drink & sandwiches from the small menu. Honestly how hard

Made a reservation with credit card 3 weeks ahead, arriving around 11.15pm to check-in and the hotel had no record..... They called a manager Josh in to look into the computer system, and after half an hour he said: I am so sorry but we have no rooms. That's it, what a stupid

This was a special day. My dad’s birthday, three months after he sadly passed away. I had read mixed reviews, but this seemed the best venue. It was brilliant, quiet, but brilliant. I am not so sure any of it was made by them, but it was all lovely! Tasty, beautifully presented

Dear Mandagio Thanks for taking the time to leave your review and for making the choice to come to Kelham House. Our food is produced in house with very few exceptions and we'll pass your compliments to the kitchen and we hope to see you again in the future. If you cant manage all the food on the day we're more than happy to bag it up so you can take it home! All the best The Kelham House team.

Be very careful if you get the coach house not the main house . Room 10 had no radiators and therefore no heating . Not great in winter . The room was damp and the paint was peeling . I reported this the next morning and hoped for a response but this did not happen . I asked a

Dear Steve As we have already communicated to you and your booking agent the Coach House is fully heated by zoned underfloor central heating and the very clear thermostat on the wall by the door which controls the temperature. We did try and resolve your issues with you but unfortunately we did not have the opportunity to before you decided to leave and try elsewhere, The Coach House was fully converted in 2011 and is fully damp proofed and fir for purpose, I'm just really sorry that in this case we could not resolve your issues. Best Regards Jon-Paul Davies

The outside of Kelham House is lovely. It's just the rooms that are lousy. There was no where to put our luggage and the bed was one of the worst I've ever slept in (or tried to). There was no box spring and only a very thin mattress which was lumpy and very uncomfortable. The

Dear guest Thanks for taking the time to leave your review but I wonder if this is correct? All our mattresses are made by Hypnos, a highly reputable and very high quality UK manufacturer of commercial beds, carrying a royal seal no less. Our bedroom furniture is all maintained to a great standard and the rooms come with wardrobes, luggage racks and bathroom shelves. I have fed your comments back to our maintenance team to look into but with our knowing which room you were in we will check them all, any issue will be corrected without delay. Best Regards Jon-Paul Davies
