Pretty much as expected. Rooms were very clean and a reasonable size. The staff were very welcoming. Very quiet. I guess you need a car if you want to venture anywhere else for something to eat. The pub food was ok without being anything special. Would happily stop here again.
Just came in for a nice quite drink and end up getting some dinner with my friend I got served by Dana who was rally nice and helpful I would come back here again and I would recommend this place to my friends and family.
This was a comfortable and clean place. Ideal for us cyclists who want to just ride away. No downers on this place. Affordable and in a great location. I'd definitely go again. Near to the original robin hood forest too! The great oak is one to see. It's hundreds of years old. It's very magical.
Let's start with the positives. Firstly, the front of house staff were friendly, gave clear information about the covid requirements and the estimated waiting time for food, and were attentive throughout. They alone drag this from a 1-star to 2-star rating. Secondly, this wasn't as expensive a mistake as it could have been, thanks to the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. Onto the eating and drinking experience - Twice a pint of Hobgoblin Gold was ordered at the bar. Twice a pint of standard Hobgoblin was delivered. Of the four mains ordered, the fish and chips was acceptable. The tikka masalla, well you definitely shouldn't be able to fold a poppadom into four. The steak and ale pie was a very disappointing segment, with a measly portion of mash and some peas - size-wise more like a kids meal, and certainly didn't fill a 13 year old. Our fourth main was a carvery, which was fine, except we didn't get the ordered pigs in blankets at all, despite mentioning their non-appearance to our server. Onto desserts. Of the four dishes on the menu, one was unavailable already. A second became unavailable between us ordering it and the order getting to the kitchen. A third was clearly running short as the sizes of brownie portions were getting smaller and smaller as they came out (and even then, it was stale).…
Booked for Sunday lunch when staying in Clumber Park, we were really ready for this meal after a busy day but were very disappointed. Staff were fine but the food...don’t do it....we were pretty early and already one meat was finished on the carvery, food arrived tepid, practically cold actually, apart from the Yorkshire pudding which was still frozen! Yum! We ask them to hold the mash but we had an almighty helping, which was more like white slop....ordered pigs in blankets as an extra which arrived as we finished the meal. The children’s food was poor too. Overall we all left wondering why we hadn’t opted for TGI. Got back to the accommodation and cooked more food for the children and we opened a big bag of crisps! Given we have all been in lockdown, you would think everyone would be keen to get it right. Location great, good for a drink but wouldn’t recommend eating here.…
