Ferryman’s Cottage is set within our grounds here at the Beetle and Wedge. Whatever the occasion may be, we have created the perfect retreat for anyone looking to treat themselves to a few nights away. The cottage has recently been renovated, creating a relaxing, and comfortable environment. Each suite has been given its own style by carefully selecting colors to complement its quaint setting while giving our guests an attractive but slightly quirky place to stay. The cottage has two ground floor bedrooms with private shower rooms that are dog friendly and two first floor bedrooms that have private bathrooms. All our rooms boast beautiful traditional furniture and the comfiest of bedding and equipped with Nespresso coffee machines, kettle, and a fridge with a selection of soft drinks. Just like The Beetle your experience with us is paramount and we do like to be slightly different. We can accommodate a range of any special requests you may have which will all be personally handled while you are with us.

Detailed Reviews
Arrived by boat to be met by Ben ( I believe new owner ) helped us moor up right in front of restaurant. The new refurbishment is stunning with wood beams, lovely colours, lighting and candles. Had a terrific table looking over Thames. Superb service from lovely friendly staff. Very knowledgeable on menu and wines. terrific food - perfect cooked scallops and delicious pork belly.
Covid wise. Tip top. Had to check in. Staff wearing visors, sanitizer, tables far apart, some partitions and told husband of for not wearing mask as he left the table ( politely of course )
Beetle and Wedge is a must by river or road. First class in all areas

Booked a nights stay great suite, evening meal was first class even though I was asked to move my car from the parking space outside the accommodation due to the arrival of a car club.
First class night sleep ready for breakfast booked in for 0830. Arrived 8.35 two tables there already one of 6 and one of 2. Still hadn’t received the breakfast at 9.30 so had to leave, the young staff member was busy drinking coffee with her colleague in the room below.
So very disappointed we had to wait so long and then end up with nothing, not good enough Victoria. Unable to have a coffee as the machine was broken, along with no plug in the bathroom basin…for the price of the room really poor I’m afraid to say. Will not stay again, attention to detail must be the watch word if you wish to have repeat business

Met up with a few friends last night at the B&W for drinks and dinner. It has recently reopened and was great. We arrived on foot having walked along the river. We sat outside for drinks and then went in for the best meal I've ever eaten there. The scallops were perfectly cooked as was the scotch egg. The fish and chips were excellent (we could easily have eaten more chips) and the beetroot risotto was delicious. The puds menu was limited but the dessert that came was excellent. All in all the food couldn't have been better and the service was also great. No sense of rush but attentive and helpful staff.
We need to go back, thank goodness we're fairly local. So happy it's re-opened.

We highly recommended the Beetle & Wedge accommodation to our good friends visiting from abroad for 2 nights this past week. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed by the poor welcome, service and general attendance they received. Having booked many months in advance, we expected they would be given the best possible suite. However, they were put into a cold, stuffy, dark converted garage in the road behind, with no outlook from the small window. When we questioned it, we were told other rooms were available and they agreed to move them. We did not welcome the inconvenience and we remain curious as to why they were not put there in the first place. As the room was much better, we were happy to give them the benefit of the doubt at that stage. Unfortunately, after a day out the following day, they returned to their room which had not been cleaned or serviced, with morning coffee cups, bed, and the bathroom untouched.
Furthermore, at 8.30 am on the last morning of their stay, they went to reception to sign out, say goodbye and hand in the keys. They found the doors locked and there was no one in sight! Having spoken so highly about the Bettle & Wedge to our friends who had travelled all this way expecting to stay in special accommodation, we felt embarrassed and let down by the neglect they received and the appalling lack of customer service. We certainly will not recommend the Beetle & Wedge again and, sadly, neither will we be eating there!

We were at the Beetle & Wedge for the 3rd or 4th time last New Year's Eve. We'd been before for dinner B&B and really rated the accommodation and food.
On NYE 4 of us checked into 2 of the 4 rooms. The rooms seemed nice enough when we checked in (we had a couple of drinks before dinner in the other room so didn't spend much time at all in ours). The dinner and celebrations that night were great. Food was excellent as usual. And they even sang happy birthday when they brought out a cake that my father in law had made.
During the night I literally couldn't sleep at all because the stink of the room was nauseating. It smelled like the sewers. It was really overpowering. Even my husband noticed, and he can barely smell a thing on the best of days. So, the following morning, I felt really rough, and it wasn't due to celebratory drinks the night before! I complained about the smell to the staff and was told that they knew there had been an issue before in that room, they'd got a plumber in to fix the problem, and had HOPED that it was fixed. So they weren't certain that it had been fixed at all. And then they said that the bookings for the other 2 rooms had been cancelled, so why on earth did they put us in that room when they had 2 others available. They didn't even really apologise, let alone offer any sort of discount on the bill, or a good will gesture. Felt pretty let down, and disappointed in the end. Especially as we were there for my birthday celebrations, having missed out on a big birthday the previous year due to covid.
As it's far from home, we would never go there without booking a room. Pretty sure we won't be risking doing that again. Such a shame, as previously it was one of our favourite overnight breaks for the two of us, and family get-togethers.

From arrival to departure I had a wonderful stay. The room was really clean and had everything you might need and all high quality. The Beetle and Wedge is a fabulous pub/restaurant and I had both a delicious dinner and breakfast with lovely views of the river. I was staying on my own and all the staff were really friendly and attentive which made my stay more fun. Thanks to you all.

This newly refurbished restaurant is located right on the banks of the River Thames. We visited this evening, having booked at short notice. Very accommodating. The view from the restaurant was lovely, having a lovely view of The Thames as we ate. An excellent choice on the menu. Staff were very friendly. Food was delicious and very well presented. Restaurant was very busy, however we were never left waiting. The owner Ben was present and chatted to guests. Would definitely recommend.

Visiting my parents for the weekend, my partner and I had a delicious lunch out with them. The setting is perfect, even on a rainy day and it’s got a very cosy and relaxed ambiance. We had a good selection of dishes, ranging from breads to the chicken breasts to the beetroot risotto and rib eye steak.
The chicken was succulent and juicy, which filled me up just right. I then had the dark chocolate and caramac brownie. It was ever so slightly on the dry side, but it was so good that I didn’t really notice much. And the honeycomb ice cream topped it off 😋

We moored up here on our boat on Tuesday and had a fab dinner. The scotch egg starter was amazing with a very interesting and unusual coleslaw followed by an incredible beetroot risotto. It was a great menu and my friends had an equally good dinner. Mac n cheese side dish was excellent. The staff were friendly and fun and we stayed overnight on our boat so excellent little stop over as the pub is right on the waterside. I couldn't fault the place at all and if I lived nearby I would be sure to come back.

We recently spent 3 nights at Ferrymans Cottage at the Beetle and Wedge . We had the Willow room which was very spacious with a large comfortable bed. Nice large bathroom with roll top bath, The room had recently been refurbished so was very bright and fresh, We had three dinners and one lunch on the riverside terrace all of which were excellent good food, lovely helpful staff and a great setting, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
