We had a lovely large twin room with shared bathroom which worked out fine. Awarm welcome when we arrived and Marianne made us tea and biscuits. Breakfast was delicious with lovely fresh berries, crispy bacon etc. Home made jam and marmalade. Very convenient when visiting the Manoir!!
Marianne welcomed us and offered tea. Marianne was a lovely host. She even drove us to le Manoir as we were eating lunch there. The house is lovely and so nicely furnished, with nice fresh flowers around it. The bedroom and bathroom room were huge. The room had hot drink facilties too. I did hear some traffic noise and as a regular traveller, I just used my ear plugs as I am a very light sleeper. The breakfast was great, with fresh juices, preserves that tasted home made, fresh fruit salad and hot items cooked to order. AND - great value too.
On first entering my room I was only dropping off my stuff. It looked nice. I hadn’t at that point noticed a few things which would later haunt my night. After going out for a bite to eat and some drinks I return to my room and realise my light switch is actually in the corridor. So I put on the nearest lamp and go back outside my room to switch off the light. I complete my nightly ritual in the separate and very adequate bathroom, then return to my room expecting to slide into bed for a good nights sleep. As I pulled back the blacket, I could see two things in my bed. I couldn’t tell what they were so went back outside and turned on my light. I was then a little perturbed by what I found. There was two lady beetles (black with red spots) in the bed! I dusted them off. I then looked round and realised I could see a handful around my headboard and a couple directly above my bed. I removed them and moved the bed forward slightly, too tired to do much about it. I fetched my phone charger from my bag and noticed a couple of dead lady beetles on the carpet. I saw a charger by the bed so went to plug it in. Then I saw a graveyard of ladybugs. I was now starting to get quite concerned and know these monkeys can bite. So not impressed. After braving it and managing a couple of hours sleep only, I woke up freezing, as it was dark not keen to get out of bed for fear I may tread on a beetle, I tried to sleep through the very load noise of the road. After keep waking up, I gave up at 5 ish, went to a shower to ensure I’d washed off any beetle juice. There was even lady beetles in my cafetière. So... I Shook off everything I owned. Packed up. And went to the services to drink coffee somewhere where whilst I awaited time for breakfast. In comparison the breakfast was really nice. Just shame I wasn’t really hungry.…
We booked at short notice and Marianne was very accommodating and made us most welcome with fresh coffee and tea on arrival. Our room was pleasant, spacious and well appointed. Later in the evening our host was kind enough to drive us to the local pub so that we could have dinner and a drink and then picked us up when we had finished. Breakfast was beautifully presented and delicious; freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh fruits and then a hot breakfast served with great coffee with hot milk. Fresh flowers everywhere made the house look so pretty - would highly recommend!
We only stayed for one night for a family wedding which was held locally. Beautiful house gardens and very nice owners. Marianne is Dutch and therefore very to the point but a lovely lady. Communication from the initial booking to final confirmation was done by email and could not be faulted. We arrived early - we had allowed time for traffic delays as it was a 3hr journey - and we were offered tea and biscuits whilst our room was being prepared - with apologies it wasn't ready - our problem for arriving early. Our room was the only on suite and was very spacious and clean.Loved the idea of being able to choose in advance what you wanted for breakfast. Please be aware that they have dogs. This wasn't an issue for us.I would certainly recommend this B&B
