Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Me & the wife have just been to the Rose Revived for an absolutely fantastic meal. The waiters were very charming & we did not have long to wait in-between course's. The experience was brilliant & I would highly recommend.

Good for those walking the Thames Path , ticked all the boxes for us -early breakfast, comfy room, good food , really lovely staff. We were able to spend the afternoon in front of their fire drinking tea . Room was compact but had all that we needed . Staff were very welcoming and helpful .

Named after an alleged historic event it is ideally located on the Thames Path as an overnight stop for walkers. We arrived early to beat the weather and had a short but comfortable wait for our room. The room was very clean and comfortable, just a little small. Breakfast the next day had. Cereal, fruit choices followed by hot serve. Friendly staff.

Lovely location. Room small but ok. Bathroom verydisappointing and unacceptable for what we were charged, shower very grubby, old and dirty. Have emailed the company ,but no response as of yet, with photos of the bathroom.

I am prompted to write this as a warning to others and because the contact form for the company is focused on its pubs, not hotels (so maybe they will read this). We were 2 couples on the Thames Path and stayed one night May 17, 2023. The location is fabulous, right on the river with a lovely terrace and mature trees, and the hotel was renovated recently with a nod to William Morris. Our room was spacious, with separate rooms for the toilet and shower. The bed was comfortable and the room quiet. Our friends' room was next to ours, with a combined shower and toilet, much smaller overall (although the same price). When I arrived I realized the carpet was gritty with dirt and sand and had definitely not been cleaned between guests. I notified the management and the man at the front desk came and cleaned it, saying they had been busy the night before. He said all 7 rooms had turned over after one night and those walking the Thames Path often have dirty shoes. I went to make tea and found one teabag (for 2 people over 12 hours) and an empty milk container. I got milk from the bar and it was sour by the next morning, so perhaps the container was not washed. The toilet room had cobwebs that were dusty, indicating they'd been there awhile. There was a brown stain on the wall, which I hoped was mud from the path from some previous traveler. The shower stall had black mould and that room also had stains on the walls. The night light also had cobwebs, but they were not dusty. The tea area was stained and the headboard scraped (this in a newly renovated room). Our friends fared less well. Their bathroom had a strong sewer smell and their shower stall surround was extremely dirty. They had milk for tea--sour milk. Both rooms had so many housekeeping deficits they felt dirty. These were our most expensive rooms by far along the walk and while we had anticipated they would be a treat, they were very disappointing, and in marked contrast to every other hotel. I realize hotels may have staffing issues and that changing over 7 rooms between checkout and check in can be a challenge. It is a shame that housekeeping is not keeping up with the renovation, which does seem thoughtfully done. (Except for those little milk canisters. Yes, they look better than plastic packets but they add to customer dissatisfaction, aren't sanitary, and create more work.) Alas, if you are on the Thames Path, this hotel may be your only option depending on how you plan your trip.

Don't go for a meal on a Monday lunch time. There are many items not available and more than half the sweets were not available. Also they had NO milk; so it had to be black tea and coffee. Also not a waitress service - had to order at bar whereas on our previous visit (at a week-end) there was a good waitress service.

Supper at The Rose, first time in a long time. They now have full waitress service - much improved from the days when you had to queue to order pud. Friendly check in for the restaurant, prompt friendly table service despite it being a busy evening. A little bit short on vegetarian options but my meat eating friend was very happy! Lovely puds. Well done - shall return. Recommended.

Shame service wasn't as nice as the setting! We ordered food and drinks at the bar, where the young girl serving us dropped a rubber mat where the glasses are stored on to the floor, then pick it up and placed it on the chopping board where fresh fruit is cut! Food arrived and the portion size was like a child’s. The fries were like scraps that must have been from the end of the bag. We had to ask for cutlery which took ages to arrive meaning the food was cold. The place Seemed to be run by a bunch of students standing around doing nothing. There did not appear to be any supervision of the staff, I would not recommend this pub for food or service.

We are regular visitors to the rose revived but I am always amazed that every time we visit we always get a list of items that are out of stock and it's always because the delivery is not arriving until that afternoon. Saying all that the food is always good and the service also

Thanks for taking the time to leave your review for the pub, unfortunately we are in the hands of deliveries at times and the current situation with drivers and food availability from suppliers is and ongoing issue that as a company we are trying to resolve but like most it's not an easy fix. It's great to hear you enjoyed the food and service, we look forward to seeing you again soon
