Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great campsite all round. In a lovely location. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Shower facilities are spotlessly clean at all times. We have been going to this site for the last 4 years every August bank holiday weekend and have never been disappointed. We are a large group with 4 families and the staff have allocated us the same group pitches every year which is great.

Very spacious and well maintained, however we found the way you were left to park however/wherever you wanted on your pitch very strange as campers/cars/caravans everywhere ! We originally booked a 2 night stay, last night and tonight. We left a day early though as we had literally no sleep last night because of all the noise. Music playing loud way in to the night, as well as people/children laughing shouting and being noisy until at least 12.45am. When we did manage to fall asleep we were then woken at 3.40 by the local resident cockerel !!! For these reasons we will not be returning to Hardwick Park. Very disappointed as they claim to be a peaceful site.

Hardwick is indeed a lovely site; with the surrounding lakes and pub/club house on site it’s always been a favourite of ours ; adults and children alike; it is only 30 minutes from us so it’s been great to have on our door step and have been visiting for years. HOWEVER, it is now so expensive that we will be going elsewhere from now on! You are charged for absolutely everything - gazebo, large tent, dog , awning, group booking surcharge, inflatable canoe - I was expecting to be charged for additional camping chairs it was so ridiculous! We hadn’t paid for a gazebo has had hoped for good weather but when it rained we popped one up on our pitch that we had paid for ………staff were straight over telling us of the additional charges we would need to pay! We had guests come for the day and we’re going to paddle in the lake (two adults and two babies) and they were told that would be £40….they said they weren’t prepared to pay that so came over to say hi and explained that they wouldn’t be able to stay - stayed half hour and when they went back to the car they had a note to say please come to reception to pay for your visit!!!!! I was actually on edge for the whole weekend as our group was being spied on constantly with staff repeatedly walking around our pitches making sure we weren’t putting any extras on!!! My friends were told they couldn’t sleep in their van , even though they had paid for the correct number of people , for the van and for their tent (he only slept in the van because their dog was barking through the night so he took him in the van to calm him down and give the others a break) Apparently that wasn’t allowed either as it was an accommodation unit (and wanted a further £75) I get that this is business but it’s now cheaper to get a premier inn or an air b&b than camp, which is crazy! Although a nice site the facilities don’t match the price tag ; the toilets and showers are dated ; there is no shop ; games room, pool etc , there are other beautiful sites locally that are a lot cheaper or with much better onsite facilities. Found staff to be quite rude and made me feel like a school child when being told off for having pitched a pup tent on the wrong pitch (even though it was on our groups pitches). We’ve been camping for years and never had an experience like this - I felt it was quite confrontational. Camping is about getting together, the great outdoors and getting away from day to day normal life - Hardwick made it more about money and rules and regs and took the fun out of the whole experience. On the plus side the music on Saturday was great and both children and adults alike had a great time! Such a Shame that the Karen’s of the world seem to want to soak up all the fun in camping!!!

Really great stay. Very well organised campsite. We were allocated an excellent sized grass area for our group of 13 people. Good flat tent pitches, clean toilets and hot showers. Bar was nice and takeaway pizzas excellent. We enjoyed the water sports while we were there. We will definitely return.

We are just home from a 2 night stay at this camp site. Although the site was clean and relatively tidy, the location of our pitch, which was allocated by the site, made the weekend a nightmare. We had our two small grandchildren with us (2 & 4). The loud music from the site clubhouse until 11pm was unbearable and made it impossible to settle them until very late. Our pitch was also located in the main thoroughfare from the toilets, which meant the noise continued until nearly midnight. It is a shame they showed no consideration for the ages of children in our party. We will not be returning.

5th time staying here and with each time there’s a little more disappointment. Like many others we saw, we were told the boathouse is open until 9 for food, got there at 8 on a Friday night to be told they had shut the kitchen as it was quiet. We were a group of 15! Everyone that had arrived on site was hurrying to get their tents up In the rain, then wanting to go and eat but no where to go! A shirt while Later a group of 23 where turned away, and then another family too. The following day a member of our party was told there was no milk for a cup of tea, we suggested that staff go get some Milk from the on-site shop! Oh yes they said good idea! Really needs to be better communication between reception and the boathouse As to how many guests they’ve got checking in. There isn’t anywhere within walking distance so if you don’t want to drive then yes as others have said it’s a just eat! It is a lovely site, and the toilets were kept really clean despite the rain, but it is expensive so they really need the facilities to reflect that!

It was a lovely site however unbelievably expensive £80 for two nights even though we only needed one night stay. This seems odd they feel the need to charge for two nights so many people were also complaining about this. Another issue there was no warning about the banger racing next door which started at 830am, if we were pre warned or offered a discount it would have been ok but felt robbed. We went for lunch with my two toddlers as they were hungry only to be told were not serving food even though it was stated on the door as within the food serving times, staff stood about doing nothing. We doubt will visit again.

Room Tip: Sunday banger racing a stone's throw from site, it's worth asking beforehand if it's going on.

We have been here a number of times and on the whole it's been reasonable, not perfect, but reasonable. This time though we didn't enjoy it and left a day early. They allow groups of unsupervised teenagers to camp and of cause all they want to do is be noisy Ann night! That plus the Boat House was not open for the week because they were not busy our week, but don't worry we have the number for Just Eat!! Think that will be the last time we stay there.

Team at the park were very accomodating informing us of all the rules and regulations of the park, however not sure if they told everyone else, as first breach was when our dog was on a lead and another owner disregarded this as her dog went for ours. Ball games not allowed unless in designated area, again this was breached in front of staff at one point a scene from the ashes and the other side was football. No commercial vehicles allowed, but was like an industrial estate. Quite time post 10.30 but there was a group who were able to keep their entertainemnt going til 05.00 no sleep for us then. If I wanted to put my paddle board in the lake it would cost twenty five pounds, however kayaks were in the swimming area where only soft inflatables should be. And all this for £38 a night and £4 for our dog a night, still not worked out what our dog got from it. To top it off we were on a lovely grass pitch however anyone could get in at night as no security for the field. In short, too expensive with little and dated facilities, more of a scene from Carry on Camping So very disappointing
