Absolutely loved staying at Ashlea Pools Country Park. We were arriving late but did receive a message from the receptiond desk to say the reception closed at 7pm but would leave the key for us which the she did. Very friendly and professional service.
As in the name, Ashlea Pools is located in the country. We stayed in the Kingfisher Plus lodge which consisted of two bedrooms, en-suite, bathroom, large lounge area with kitchen.
Very comfortable beds, cosy and warm throughout.
Large decking with hot tub which was so inviting. The hot tub was sunk into the decking which was so much nicer to step into and lie back in.
Would highly recommend Ashlead Pools Country Park and will definately be booking again.

Thank you very much *****

It is a lovely park, very pretty. We had a friends get away here with our dogs for a week. Overall had a lovely time but we did find it quite frustrating that when we asked for leaflets of local walks we were given a booklets of walks to drive to and nobody could point us to where the local walks were, ended up hrining bikes to go look for some local walks.
You definitely need a car to go here, we didnt take one and were quite limited on what we could do as it quite literally is in the middle of nowhere which is nice for the quiet but you need a car if you want days out.
Fishing on the lake was brilliant, we rented our things and got a license from reception and caught 10 fish in the first 2 hours and it is a beautiful and well maintained lake.
There are people on site that live there permanently. I'm not sure who lives there but at one lodge on the main bend (assume it's a worker), there is a boxer and staffy there all day and have access to the decking but nobody can walk past without the boxer barking its head off. You hear him throughout the day and it's quite daunting when walking past (only way out the park) as he leans over the gate and barks until you're out of sight or until the next person walks past. Our lodge was the other side of the park and we could hear him throughout the day.
Site was well maintained, main board by reception needs updating as the layout has changed slightly and confused us the first day until we got a map of the park from reception. We found a couple of the signs and leaflets were out of date and didnt show true information anymore.
Highly recommend the wood n ribbon next door. Nobody told us but we found that there is access through the railway path on site instead of walking down the road. They have a pony, goats, and some pigs that you can visit and the staff are lovely. Nice quiet little place to eat and nice kids playground.
Loved Marios pizzas, though do wish there was more choice than pizza and pasta. If there was more choice on the menu we would have eaten on site every night as it was top quality food. Recommend taking your own food with you as the shop mark up is quite high.
One thing that did frustrate us and we were never warned about, a man comes every day or two days to check hot tub levels but he just lets himself onto the decking and one day he nearly let our dogs out of the lodge gate and the next time I was in my bikini in the living room getting ready to go in the hot tub (luckily dogs were inside this time). Didnt really think that was appropriate, they should give you a schedule for when he will come or something as we didnt even know someone was coming to do anything, he just let himself in one day.

Thank you for your 4****'s and lovely comments about how pretty the park was. We are pleased that you enjoyed the fishing on the lake and explored the local area using the bike hire. The book handed out to guests has information about walks and other things open in the area. We do find within the current climate that you need to book online for lots of outings and lots of leaflets aren't available at present due to this sorry. We are sorry about the dog barking, if you stay with us again please come or ring reception and we will be more than happy to try and rectify this situation for you. We are pleased that you enjoyed Mario's Italian food, Mario enjoys doing specials and is always experimenting with new ingredients so watch this space for more updates! We are sorry about no one explaining about the hot tub being checked daily, these checks are completed for your health and safety. We are pleased that these minor things haven't put you off and we look forward to welcoming you once again. Leanne Lewis

This was our second visit and review and just as relaxing in the winter as it was in the summer. Same warm welcome and complimentary hamper which was very much appreciated. Shop on site is well stocked with food, drinks, toiletries etc, and lodges already have kitchen essentials (dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, cleaning spray, kitchen roll) for your use. Also liked they had cards and birthday banners, balloons etc if you are celebrating!🎉 Stayed in a Goldcrest VIP lodge overlooking lake; immaculately clean, with quality furnishings, cosy and warm. Hot tub was well used, even in cold weather, and checked everyday. We brought an extra towel each from home for hot tub to keep towels inside fresh. 2 x cotton robes provided for use. Daughter and grandson visited overnight and he enjoyed use of play facilities and little tractors. This is a lovely place with friendly, helpful staff (thank you Leanne), well looked after by owners and their team. For peace and quiet and getting away from it all, it is a perfect retreat!

I'm writing this review after a poor experience at the Ashlea Pools Park. After booking in a rush we chose the oak VIP lodge because it looked the best and certainly cost it too £755 for 4 nights in the off peak season. The lodge itself was nice, but lacked basic amenities that you just expect when you go on holiday - no wifi unless you want to pay extra, no anti-bac spray for the kitchen, no welcome pack as advertised when booking (we later went to reception and she managed to rustle up prosecco and chocolates), to get the remote control to work for the main TV we constantly had to take out the batteries, there were no spare ones in the lodge. Most of these I can overlook, that was until the owner marched over to our lodge 3 days in and demanded I get to reception immediately for having dogs. I never planned to bring them but my partner had a last minute event so I had no choice, as you can see from other reviews and even on trip advisor it says PET FRIENDLY, a genuine mistake that they weren't allowed in that particular lodge. Added to this he sent the poor receptionist over twice, first with the invoice and 2nd to demand payment be settled straight away, despite having my card details on file and not checking out for another day. The whole thing was genuinely just rude. I paid an additional £178 to have 2 tiny dogs there which may I add are probably cleaner than most people! However the money didn't bother me as much as the owner evidently, but this additional payment was to have a deep clean... of which I would expect to be happening anyway with COVID... I'll leave you all with that one.

Lovely clean and modern lodges, all equipped with everything you need, the bathrobes where a lovely touch, especially when in and out of the hot tub. Good location, not far from Ludlow town, which is a great visit! The castle went down a real treat with the kids too. The site the lodges are on is not too big, which means the lodges are spaced very well keeping yourself private from others. The main shop at the front is lovely that's where the pizzeria is based which is perfect to dine in when you arrive on that first night. The staff are really friendly and helpful which makes you feel very welcome. There are lots of nice pubs 10-15mins away that are easy to drive to if you fancy eating out. We ate at the Blue Boar in Ludlow Town Centre (25mins away from site) and also ate at the Horse and Jockey in Knighton (16mins away from site) both meals where lovely home cooked food and great value for money. We also visited the Owl and Small animal farm which was recommended by Ashlea Pools in their helpful guide only a 30 minute drive away but well worth it if you have small children they got to feed the animals which was lovely as the animals where very gentle. Staff really friendly too and the set up was well organised.
Would definitely recommend and would definitely go back.

The welcome on arrival was friendly as usual and the staff are always available and happy to help out with our requests.
We were really pleased by the updated cleaning standards put in place as a result of the coronavirus and we never felt we were at risk of catching this from the accommodation or site.
The new reception and cafe is great addition and the pizzas we had on the Friday are the best pizzas we have had in many years!!
Overall a relaxing holiday as usual and we are looking forward to the next one!!

Needing a break and an escape after lockdown, we booked a Kestrel lodge for 3 nights. The staff at reception are lovely and so helpful. We were disappointed not to get a welcome pack and not quite sure why COVID-19 restrictions would impact that given we could buy the same stuff from the shop, handled by the staff at the till. The lodge looked very clean although there was a slight wet dog smell when we opened the door. The Kestrel Lodge must be the oldest on the site and could use a little attention. However it was well equipped and nicely furnished. The sunken hot tub on the decking was clean and worked perfectly. The new freshly made pizza service in the reception area was good, and the fresh bread on sale was excellent. WiFi was £5 per day with a mobile router which worked very well. Grounds are beautiful and the site is very peaceful.

The Lodges were very well appointed and the site immaculately maintained. Staff were extremely knowledgeable about the area and recommended an excellent pub for food. But for £750 for 4 nights I would have expected free WIFI in the lodges, not be be asked to pay an extra £20 deposit for the modem and then £5 per day. Also had to pay extra for £9 per day for the fishing.

What can I say. First time here and we spent our Christmas here from eve until 27th. when we arrived the lodge was excellently cleaned, well stocked and welcoming. Smelled clean and fresh and it is decorated excellently. The added Christmas tree was warming, heating was on and hot tub bubbling away ready to use which was always clean and water checked daily even on Christmas Day!

Had all the plates, glasses, sauce pans, hoover iron and ironing board etc so literally felt like being at home but more luxurious!

The view from our Oak VIP lodge 23 was great of the lake and only a short walk to the bins which wasn’t too much trouble. I’m looking at bookings for next year already as this was a relaxing, enjoyable holiday and even our 2 kids of 3 and 9 years old kept saying they wanted to stay here and didn’t want to go home!

Top notch holiday and ladies at reception were friendly and informative who took our security deposit over the phone on the way here and left a welcome pack so check in was a breeze

Thanks again and a Christmas never to forget after a dreadful year!

We brought our own portable one - as long as it has legs and won’t burn the decking they don’t mind you using it. We used it every night! You don’t have to use their ones.
