Was a little dubious about staying after reading some of the reviews.
However felt some people moan just for the sake of it!

Was there traffic noise? Yes but then you're in services by an A road, the address gives it away. Windows being closed gave a good sound barrier and a fan was in the room should it be required.

Having read that there was no lift I called the day before check in to request a ground floor room as my daughter has a spinal cord injury and has trouble with stairs, this was noted and we were on the ground floor.

Warm welcome from reception and other staff throughout our stay

Room was spacious and clean

Bathroom had bath with fixed shower head, that was a bit of an issue for anyone taller than about 5ft due to it's position.
As others have mentioned there does seem to be a flush issue with the toilet with not 'everything' going the 1st time.

Some of the pot holes have been patched but car park is still very lumpy

Quick over night stay, checked in late, was greated by a cheerful night staff member. The room was spot on, though the refresh to the hotel seems to be in progress with new carpets etc. my room was still in the dated stage, Ive seen travelodge's after the refreshes, it makes the world of diferance and compliments the great staff, who do their best to make you feel at home.
The travelodge is situated away from the main roads so no trafic noise, my nights stay was quiet and refreshing as I had to be up early to continue my journey.
Upon check out the same night Staff, Meg greated me with a smile.
A good start to the day, Many Thanks.
There is a service station nearby a KFC and Mcdoogles.

One of the best features about travelodge is that it has 24 hour reception. It was late at night when we arrived so the front door was locked but John the night manager only took a few seconds to answer it. Check in was quick and easy and when we got to our room it was worm and cosy.

I stayed for one night at the Travelodge in Oswestry.
The premises appeared to be in a poor condition, generally felt run-down and fatigued. The carpet in the entrance lobby was worn, discoloured and had a dirty appearance, and the décor certainly needed refreshing.
Nonetheless I expected the room I booked to be in better condition. It was not. A pungent smell emanated from the room when I entered (through a door that was propped open by a coat hanger, presumably to try and rid the room of the smell). I complained to the receptionist who changed my room.
The second room at least did not smell, but the TV was faulty, causing the receptionist to attend and fiddle with the cables to gain a picture. However, upon use the volume control on the remote did not work and the TV was barely audible. At this point, and after a very long drive I gave up and went to bed, glad that I had brought my radio at least.
In the morning I took a shower only to find there was no soap in the dispenser, an intensely annoying and very basic fault of housekeeping. Low water pressure, bathroom sink was blocked to the point it hardly drained, I could go on but I’m sure you'll realise by now that this hotel is barely adequate for purpose.
How they can warrant a £60+ charge for this appalling level of service is beyond me. I truly wish I had paid another ten pounds and stayed at the Premier Inn along the road.

I stayed here for one night as I needed to attend a funeral the following day. You obviously cannot expect too much as it is what it is, but I was not expecting to leave as disgusted as I was.

The bedroom was fine, I had spent the evening at a family meal and returned to go straight to bed. When I had switched the lights off, I grabbed the two extra pillows on the cupboard and added them to the bed. Upon waking up in the morning and drawing the curtains, I noticed one of the pillows covered in dried blood - this was a pillow I was directly laying on.

I approached the manager about this matter and she did seem disgusted and angry about it and offered me a free night stay at any Travelodge across England, with “extras” added. I must say I didn’t know what that meant but was accepting of this offer.

It is now however 4 days since checking out and nothing has materialised, I have also lodged a direct complaint as a result, with Travelodge and am yet to hear back.

I am greatly concerned for the health concerns of sleeping on what is regarded as hazardous waste, but also around the lack of urgency to suitable resolve the matter.

With having to unfortunately attend a funeral of a close family member, alongside sleeping on blood stained pillows... well, it didn’t start the day off in a good manner.

Disgusting.

Just returned from a 3 night stay here. We stayed in room 01 as it is on the ground floor and is suitable for a wheelchair. Room was clean but in need of refurbishment. The bathroom is spacious and the grab rails make it easy for a disabled guest to use the bath which also has a shower. Staff are friendly and welcoming. There is a vending machine in the lobby for snacks and drinks, also a burger king directly opposite. Plenty of other places to eat and drink on the other side of the roundabout and a couple of minutes drive from Oswestry town centre. Ideally situated for exploring shopshire and North Wales. The only negative was the amount of litter in the carpark each morning, which included glass bottles next to our car. Would stay here again if we visit the area.

The tales of travelodges abound in the UK. They range from great to horrible experiences, and are known for being very inexpensive. So I had not stayed in one over the ten or so years I have been on this island.

But 2020 is not like all the other years, and so we would ourselves in a Travelodge in somewhat of the middle of nowhere. But it was £46 for a room for four.

So we pull onto the lengthy driveway and begin bouncing around between potholes past a slightly derelict, closed Burger King, and around to a quiet looking Travelodge. We were shocked enough to see if we were past our cancellation time. We were.

So I went in to a simple, but clean entry with all the expected social distancing protocols, and was greeted warmly by the receptionist. I got my key and thought I would check the room before letting the rest inside.

I was pleasantly surprised - it was a bright, clean room with no stains, clean walls, bright white linens and a mould-free bathroom. As you can tell my expectations were high.

We had a bite, watch some televisio, had a great night sleep and were out quickly the next morning to continue our journey. It was a simple room, but it had everything we needed. And more importantly, everything was clean.

Looks like you have a new believer, Travelodge. Would I stay at one over the course of a holiday? - no, but I would happily spend the night there in passing.

. The Oswestry Travelodge was clean and well maintained but situated in an unpleasant and uncared for area. It is not well placed for those without cars. It is a mile and a half from the town centre with no bus service. The staff were caring and courteous. The rail strikes on 13th and 16th December meant we had to book an extra night a day earlier and leave a day earlier. The extra night cost was twice the rate we paid for the other nights and no compensation was offered.

Premises consist of rooms on the Ground and first floor. I stayed on the 1st floor. No lift so had to carry my heavy suitcase up the stairs. On walking along the corridor there was a smell of Cannabis coming from one of the rooms – despite Travelodge no smoking policy. Not a good start to the stay!! On entering the room there was a very heavy smell of bleach, so we opened the window to try to clear the strong smell. Other than that the room was clean and tidy.
The hotel is small, tired / outdated by todays standard for Travelodge with no lift. However it is at a good location to stop over on a journey as it is on a main road artery from North to South Wales. I slept well as no noisy traffic or noisy guests. The staff member on arrival was OK (not really welcoming) but the staff member the following morning was extremely pleasant and helpful to me - nothing seemed to be too much trouble for her.

This location lacks facilities and the car park lighting wasn’t on when it needed to be.
The soap dispenser in the bathroom didn’t work - which is a basic requirement. A member of staff had a look and, although it wasn’t empty, it refused to dispense any soap!
