The Old Rectory on the lake is on Tal-y-llyn on the slopes of Cadair Idris. For the last thirteen years we have been welcoming the discerning visitor to this delightful part of southern Snowdonia. We trust our many TripAdvisor reviews speak for themselves and many mention the mouth-watering evening meals offered by Ricky on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

Maureen, it was our pleasure to have you both to stay with us at Tal-y-llyn and I am so happy that you enjoyed my cooking and that you deemed your time with us as to be 'special'. We appreciated that you drove down from Manchester and we hope all our paths cross again! Kind regards from Chef Ricky and joint owner.

We only booked this last minute as a stopover to see the Blackpool illuminations, but we were blown away by the stunning panoramic beauty of our surroundings. The view from the retreat (nestled at the foothills of Cadair Idris mountains) is breathtaking. The Annexe room we were

It was so good to meet you all and we were intrigued by what brought you to the area. Indeed we repeated your balloon story on our own Facebook page which got many a comment and in fact we think it may even be featured in our local paper, The Cambrian News, which will hit the streets on Wednesday. Thanks so much for writing this amazing review about your stay with us in The Rectory Retreat and we are delighted to read that your visit to Tal-y-llyn was the highlight of your adventure to see the Blackpool illuminations. Our kind regards, John, Ricky and Reggie.

We booked this as a surprise for our parent's Golden Anniversary! They stayed in the Rectory Retreat which is an annexe next door to the main house. This is very practical for people who can't do stairs, it's very spacious, light and bright but still quite cosy! Our folks really

This was a great event to organise and John and I had fun doing it. We are pleased that your parent's silver wedding surprise celebration was such a success and thanks for writing in such glowing terms about my cooking. This is so appreciated. We so enjoyed meeting your parents and were so touched to see they were holding hands at dinner on the first night of the stay - love was certainly in the Tal-y-llyn air that weekend. Kind regards from the kitchen, Ricky - chef and joint owner.

Philip, is was so very good to meet you again and catch up with what is now happening in your life since we last met you over three years ago. Thanks for taking the time to write a review about us and these kind comments regarding our home are so appreciated. Reggie is thrilled that he has got a name check on here - he only arrived at The Old Rectory on the lake five weeks ago but it is as if he truly belongs here at Tal-y-llyn and we are both enjoying his rather unorthodox company. Two days ago, he and I conquered Cadair Idris from the other side of the mountain and the weather and views were exceptional. We were on the mountain for nearly seven hours and walking for four and a half and he was very patient taking things at my pace. Indeed you are not the first to make kind comments about him - we just hope his head will not get too big and he will move on to pastures news as we need him to get through the rest of the season. We will be closing in mid November. Very best wishes. John, Ricky and of course Reggie!

Kyle and Laura, were flattered that our home was chosen to be the second and third nights of your married lives together in our home and we are so pleased that you enjoyed this wedding gift. This fantastic review is truly appreciated especially the comments about Ricky's food. Do not tell anyone but he is also a dab hand with pyrotechnics and welcomes any opportunity to set some off by the lake. We trust by now you will have received the images we took from across the other side of Tal-y-llyn with The Old Rectory bathed in many a colour from the fireworks with some glorious reflections in the water. Anyway it was great to meet you and we send you both our best wishes for the future. Kind regards from John and Ricky - joint owners. PS I bet this is the first time you have both used the surname Fisher!
