Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Babington House is the benchmark of excellence, from the service to the food, aesthetics, garden design, attention to detail, cuisine and hospitality, nothing is too much trouble, no stone is left unturned. With every visit we can all tell that the management are highly trained and have eyes everywhere. Delicious cocktails, food and afternoon tea. It's the best treat for every occasion.

I stayed for the first time with a friend for a girls' weekend and we had the loveliest time. I'm surprised to see all the negative reviews! I found the service to be surprisingly excellent, making me wonder whether I expect Soho House service to be awful just based on living in NYC. (Seriously, good luck trying to get anyone to even look at you at Dumbo House). I also found the service here massively better than Soho Farmhouse which I personally found very lacking.

Service was friendly and excellent throughout - housekeeping, the restaurant, the spa, etc. I can't fault anyone. I appreciated how quickly they were able to turn around my laundry which was a massive perk as I had another week of travel ahead.

The spa was a total treat. I loaded up on several services over two days and none disappointed. I've never seen a massage therapist seem more thoughtful and genuinely interested in the treatment she was offering. I fell asleep on the table, I was so relaxed. My Cowshed Facial was excellent. The facilities are chic and welcoming. Cannot recommend enough!

The restaurant, bar and room service were all great. I loved the Sunday Roast - one of the best of the very many I've had! The beef was excellently done as were the potatoes.

Bed was very comfy and as usual, love all the thoughtful touches around the room and plethora of bath products and toiletries.

My friend and I loved wandering around the property. It feels like a perfectly manicured (but not try hard) microcosm of the English countryside.

Will definitely be back when I'm next in the UK!

We went for Sunday lunch and have to say this was the best we have had for ages. Service was impeccable ( rather slow at the bar beforehand) but a great day out. Will definitely fo again and thanks to Samantha who looked after us very well :)

Go for the roast beef at £24 per head - tons of vegetables, roast potatoes and scrummy cauliflower cheese. House wine was also very pleasant

If I was only reviewing the food this would be a 5 star review however little things matter in this price range and they fell short. On arrival we were sat at our table promptly and offered drinks to start. Two of our party were using the rest rooms so only the two at the table had water glasses filled and drinks order taken, when we were all present no one came to offer drinks and water to the late comers and it took some time (several minutes) to attract staff attention and get service. This continued throughout the meal with the water jug being conspicuous by it's non appearance. The male toilets were dirty and hand towels had run out so nothing to dry hands on after washing. I guess could do better is the watchword here, pity as it shouldn't be hard to get these things right.

The housekeeping failed to check the bedroom - bedside light broken, shower head leaked, bath hose leaked. One radiator did not work so room was cold. Television connection did not work. No weighing scales in bathroom. These problems were fixed during our 4 night stay! NO scales available .Dining room was freezing cold sometimes as doors left open. No table cloths on the tables. Staff were not properly trained and service very patchy. Food was unreliable, some foods annoyingly were unavailable and the prices charged high. Unable to differentiate between guests and the staff as no uniforms or name tags are worn. Food is permitted to be taken and eaten in all reception rooms and the bar resulting in the smell of food everywhere! The smell of burning wood drifts upstairs into the bedrooms and bathrooms. Both the Indoor pool and gym are outside of the main house which is miserable when the weather is cold and raining ! The organisation is poor and the lack of a proper check in desk procedure and a bellboy makes checking in a miserable experience as is the storing of your luggage whilst waiting for your room to be ready after 4 p.m. as there is no place to store the luggage . Soho House this is not up to standard for its members !

As a member here I am used to the less than mediocre service but as of recently it has been rather shocking. Groups of staff are around talking, tables are always forgotten. As someone who used to work in the industry, the fact that tables are waiting 30 minutes plus to be greeted and then another 30 minutes to actually have a drink arrive to the table is just ridiculous. Four friends and I were there recently and our starters and most mains came out at the same time with a final pizza coming out late and cold. There was no apology or explanation and the staff often have an attitude when you raise a concern or inevitably flag them over because you have been ignored for a considerable amount of time. I understand that there is a staff shortage in the UK but the service was like this before the pandemic- and they seem to have an abundance of staff members. Considering we all pay to be members, it would be nice if they focused on offering an exceptional guest experience for all. I love the grounds, the bartenders are amazing, the food is usually pretty good but the service needs a massive overhaul.

I was a member of Babington House for 8 years up until 2020 and saw a steady decline in service standards for a number of years. As an under 30's member at the time, I also recognised that I was treated somewhat differently to older members (like the second class citizens), but I have returned with friends a couple of times in the last few months and I'm so shocked at how bad the service has become. This weekend we visited as a celebration in the restaurant with a small number of friends, and we genuinely had to ask for the attention of staff in every scenario; asking for drinks, asking for water (which wasn't left on table but also wasn't then proactively topped up), we had to ask for our food order to be taken and then had to ask for bill. I don't remember seeing a single staff member smile, it was genuinely quite shocking that such a premium environment could even excuse this. Not to mention that the restaurant was half full, and there seemed to be plenty of staff? Soho House lazily relies on the pretentiousness of its pretence and unarguably gorgeous buildings and surroundings, but this just doesn't cut it. With fabulous hotel chains around the counties, such as The Pig (which offers far superior service and warmness), Thyme and The Newt, I'm genuinely astonished how they get away with it. I can only assume that the best service (seen in some of the reviews below) is reserved for those 'whose face fits'. Such a shame, because the house, décor and grounds is all truly so beautiful, it's quite gutting. Have always rooted for Babington, but some serious work is needed to make this place worth the monies.

Left Babington House very disappointed after a two night stay which we were all in need of and were really looking forward to. We are a family of 3 with one well behaved 11 year old girl yet we felt unwelcome for the whole time we stayed. Despite clearly targeting families with bunk bed rooms and facilities like a kids club, they don’t want families there but I would guess they feel they have no choice because of the income these rooms generate. After all, most of the clientele are very young and probably not spending very much whilst visiting. We were barely allowed to use any of the facilities, which were empty of other people most of the time. We were not allowed into the bar areas and had to sit in a separate deli area for dinner because we didn’t want to eat at 6pm. And then on the last morning we were told we didn’t actually need to do that and could have eaten in the restaurant??

Babington House should probably be adults only.

There is little to no management of staff and everything seems chaotic. On more than one occasion we were given incorrect information from reception staff, like what times we could eat and use the pool facilities etc.

Food is average and the menu rarely changes. We were bored by the second day. Food arrived cold and the pizzas were usually burnt on the times we ordered them.

Following our stay I made a complaint to the manager who sent a lukewarm response and clearly couldn’t care less.

The rooms are beautiful and the spa service was fantastic but that is the only parts of the stay I feel positive about.

Don’t waste your money at Babington House, it’s an expensive disappointment.

I really don't want to be that person who complains, but Sunday afternoon at Babington House for dinner was a big disappointment. Started well, Andy Fish greeted us and as always worked hard to make sure everyone was welcome, I saw him work the room in the dinning area as well as the bar and the library. Unfortunately that can't be said of the staff in the restaurant. Left until we had to ask for a menu, ordered drinks, when they arrived one was missing, when we asked for it staff just laughed. Food was good, then we were left, Andy spotted we were waiting and got a menu for desert. Then left again until we gave up, asked for the bill, waiter was rude to my daughter who now wants to give up her membership. Shame.

The SOHO group are struggling with staff and Service standards and no more so than at Babington House. We are loyal and devoted fans of SoHo House, however this latest trip was such a disappointment.
1) I was with my wife and we aren’t ‘guys’ so please don’t greet us with that at every turn it’s not ok.
2) when asked if we had any allergies at meals we said no but that we would like our food hot. SoHo has a problem serving HOT food in most of its locations but Babington was ridiculous. Not one meal on any single course (that was supposed to be) was HOT.
3) the staff were mostly lovely and mostly not well trained
4) our room was pleasant and clean our bed was comfy, don’t get a Duplex unless u are ok with banging ur head getting in and out of bed.
5) the property is not as well maintained as Farmhouse

It is very expensive for what you get.

The management team there know they have issues, but seem to be struggling to fix things. Don’t ask for a coffee in a mug there are only three on the property.

We didn’t have a pleasant time and wouldn’t go back. That said most of the folks around us seemed to be having fun…

I know of the above pubs but do not know the answer to the dog question. I would stay at Babington as they are so dog friendly.
