We found the Fox & Goose last year when we drove by and noticed they were open for breakfast. We had THE most amazing breakfast ever, (as a B&B owner I don't say that often!) We had a nice welcome, the room was warm, spacious and had everything we needed. It was just a short stopover following a flight into Bristol airport before driving back to Cornwall. We had a pleasant meal in the restaurant which had a nice atmosphere. The room was surprisingly quiet with very little road noise, the bed was a bit too soft for us but we had a reasonable night sleep. Spoke to 3 members of staff at check out who were lovely, one even remembered me from last year! We are booked to stay again in February, it is excellent value for money.

Hugely disappointed that breakfast is now a buffet, having spoken to staff I understand why they are doing that now, but we only booked as we were looking forward to the breakfast we enjoyed last year. Fingers crossed it will revert back by February!! LOL

Receptionist was more worried about her dog and we were left there standing, no welcoming greeting, we had booked for the restaurant but told not enough people booked in there so you will be in the bar, I did say I hope we have a nice table as meeting friends, was told all our tables are nice she was very frosty. our fish and chips came and the fish was burnt, staff member said its the colour of the beer in the batter and we have not had any other complaints, just try it, the batter was so burnt you could only snap it , we asked for something else and we waited nearly hour for ham egg and chips as a replacement, I was told we have other tables to serve , I find this strange ,am is a cold meat could they have not put in a few extra chips,T he staff member was not too pleased because we rejected the food. I would not stay or even recommend anyone to eat there , the attitude towards customers needs looking at, customer service was nil.

It was after 9 pm when we arrived but check in was swift. We were on the second floor - no lifts if you have a walking problem). We overlooked the main road. Large room, table with two chairs and a really comfortable bed. There was no radiators in the room so it was cool in the room when arrived. There was an electric radiator which we plugged in and soon warmed up . Plenty of teas and coffee and two really nice packets of biscuit. The shower is over the bath. There is a car park at the front and one at the back - bit muddy but we had had a lot of rain. A pleasant experience and would stay again.

If you like a clean room with fresh smelling bedding, a bath you can relax in, grounds to wander through to reach a cosy bar in which to eat some tasty, value for money food, then drive past the Fox and Goose at Brent Knoll.
Probably the worst place we have ever stayed in, and we travel a lot. The room smelt really bad when we opened the door, but not as bad as the bathroom, where we had to spray perfume before we could even enter. The kettle had cigarette burn marks on the top, despite it being a no smoking room, and there was blood on the blinds. The bedding had a musty stale smell and the mattresses were vey uncomfortable.
The bar was crowded with no place to sit and enjoy a drink. The food was totally underwhelming, with partially cooked chips that resembled door steps, and very expensive. The staff would all benefit from some customer service training. More importantly, they need to take more care when charging food to rooms. When we paid our bar bill the morning we left, we had someone elses food and drinks added to our bill. We have given up trying to get the over charged money back - the phone is rarely answered, and when they promise to call you back, you will wait for ever.
My advice to you is drive past and look for somewhere else to eat and stay. It will certainly be better than The Fox and Goose.

After many visits this tonight has been our most disappointing. Lack of table service after being told to sit down and someone will come take your order, no one did for ages, then the food order was incorrect when it came. The steak which was ordered medium rare was overcooked and the child’s fish and chips came as an adult portion. Our waitress had no idea what she was doing, never asked what red wine I wanted or what size! this is poor training from the manager and not the waitresses fault, I expect better when paying the prices charged!!!

Yesterday night came there at 19.30 to have dinner by recommendation of our hotel’s manager. There was no tables available but we were offered to wait in a bar area which ended up leaving the place after 1,5 hour waiting. At 20.30 a few tables were free but staff did not let us eat. The problem is there are no other restaurants around (no in our hotel) so we just ended up without any food at all.

we stayed 1 night as a stop gap between torquay and western supermare.
the rooms are a little dated, but not a bad stay at all.
the beds were very comfy and big.
the rooms were so spacious, and very clean.

we spent the night in the family run pub and restaurant and we had a really lovely meal, all staff were very friendly, food freshly cooked and tasty.
lovely interior inside the pub. great value for money

breakfast staff were very welcoming, breakfast was lovely however i felt the breakfast was a little over priced for what we received.

I would definitely book to stay here again.
overall was lovely

Stayed here during August, whilst on business. On arrival I was greeted by the resident dog, which moults, a lot! No one on reception, when I did get my key card it was nothing but trouble and temperamental, the room was basic some what dated and could do with a deep clean to say the least, I don’t want to know what half the stains/marks/drips are. The toilet seat was broken the whole of my stay. The staff in the restaurant seemed pleasant enough, couldn’t say the same for the ‘blonde’ cleaner, I didn’t catch her name but I could hear her, she needs to remember the walls are thin and that customers can hear everything, she sounds snappy and for sure there are chunks out of the walls the way she throws the hoover around in the mornings. This should have been an easy stay over but I won’t be back, no matter how convenient, wouldn’t recommend!

Staying with work, and understanding the circumstances of covid are still with us, nonetheless the stay I had was only ok. Breakfast is a strange affair, with only one member of staff in and out with the components of a continental breakfast (no cooked breakfast available) and the rooms are clean and spacious, but through no fault of the hotels, are right on one of the region's main dual carriageway. Sleep was a tough challenge.
Even more challenging is departing the hotel from the front, where you leave the car park straight onto a hellishly busy road on a blind bend.
There is parking at the rear though so suggest you turn up round the back and not on the main road.

When we got we used key to get in to bedroom area, didn't work. Changed key and got in, went to dinner, not good mediocre and overpriced.. went back to room again problems with the key.. nextday after breakfast which was ok but again overpriced. We Went back to room to get ready for the wedding we were going the shower would not get hot, there reaction let us use vacant next door rooms bathroom just to shower only. So we then had to traipse next door after shower in towels to get dried and dressed. After another problem with keys gave us a new set, unfortunately after we got back at 11.30pm from wedding, keys would not work on bedroom door again, no one around to give assistance and main building shut and in the dark. We were lucky as we were on the ground floor and had left window slightly open, my son climbed in and let us into room. Not even a offer of a part refund just a apology. Give this place a wide berth.

Hi, our room had all of these. We did have a problem with the hairdryer overheating and stopping but the reception sorted it out no problem.. good place to stay.
