Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We found the Fox & Goose last year when we drove by and noticed they were open for breakfast. We had THE most amazing breakfast ever, (as a B&B owner I don't say that often!) We had a nice welcome, the room was warm, spacious and had everything we needed. It was just a short stopover following a flight into Bristol airport before driving back to Cornwall. We had a pleasant meal in the restaurant which had a nice atmosphere. The room was surprisingly quiet with very little road noise, the bed was a bit too soft for us but we had a reasonable night sleep. Spoke to 3 members of staff at check out who were lovely, one even remembered me from last year! We are booked to stay again in February, it is excellent value for money. Hugely disappointed that breakfast is now a buffet, having spoken to staff I understand why they are doing that now, but we only booked as we were looking forward to the breakfast we enjoyed last year. Fingers crossed it will revert back by February!! LOL

My wife and I wanted somewhere for a 2 night stay where, amongst other things, we could entertain friends for a meal. We made a very good choice. It's ideally situated just off jnc 22 of the M5 and we were met with a lovely warm welcome. The room was perfectly adequate with a very comfortable bed.My wife and I enjoyed an evening meal of fish and chips which was delicious. On the following day because we were planning to have lunch at the Inn together with some friends we only had a bacon sandwich for breakfast which was just the job, At lunch time we and our four friends had a variety of mains with two of us having 'The Ploughmans'-from the menu it seemed slightly more expensive than is normally expected but when it arrived -- Wow ! I had difficulty finishing it all but just managed but couldnt have a dessert- highly recommended. On our final morning we had the full English which was freshly made and as such was lovely and hot on arrival as well as being very tasty. It was during breakfast that we spoke to one of the new owners who was serving us.It transpired that they had only taken over the Inn in the last week or so- we were surprised as everything looked very professionally managed. All the staff with whom we came into contact were friendly, helpful and efficient. The new owners deserve great success and we genuinely wish them well.

Really friendly reception staff, we booked for an evening meal as this is quite remote, the menu has enough choice for anybody including gluten free options. Service was great, atmosphere was lovely. Our room faced the road and the A38 is quite busy, but this was no bother. The room was lovely and large with a comfy bed and the prerequisite tea and coffee facilities. Very clean and bright throughout, no reason to complain at all.

Popped in for lunch, to find a very large function on, so the bar was extremely busy with only a couple of young girls doing a great job despite the obvious lack of staff, not their fault, ordered a second drink only to be told there was a problem with the pump, so the older woman ducking in and out of the bar I can only assume was the manager/owner couldn't really tell, went to check the problem just disappeared without letting the girl serving me what she was doing, unfortunately having waited nearly 10 minutes for her to return which I might add she didn't I had to opt for a drink I didn't want or like, when she did finally appear she didn't even have the decency to inform the staff the problem was sorted, I decided to go and ask to change my drink, all I can say is the woman was rude and surly and unapologetic, I will never be going back here again..

Great place and value. We wanted a quick stop as part of a longer journey and spotted this when planning just off the m5. Big rooms with everything you need and comfortable bed! Attached bar and restaurant was lovely as was breakfast! Not far from beach town so handy to pop out and explore about. Staff friendly and helpful

This would have been a 5 star rating. The hotel is conveniently situated. The rooms are secure and are exceptionally clean. The bath towels are pure white and large. The beds are comfortable. It was all spoilt by the attitude of the owner/manager. We arrived after a 6 hour journey. Walked into reception with all bags and baggage. My husband has severe dementia, so I was having to guide him to walk with me. I am deaf- the two hearing aids are a clue. The owner gave me the key cards and spent a few minutes telling me various things I needed to know. I thanked her and we made our way to our room. The heating, a wall-mounted heater/air conditioning system, was off so I pressed the on button. After a while, the room was still cold,so I pressed the temperature button to increase the heat. 15 minutes later it was still cold. So, I took the remote back to the woman we had spoken to. She took the remote and tutted and huffed and complained that she had told me how to operate the heating and that I had now pressed buttons that I shouldn't have. I apologised and explained that I hadn't taken in all she said when we arrived, being tired and a little stressed. She didn't comment, just handed back the remote and told me to just leave it when I got back and the heating would come on automatically. I thanked her, went back to the room and did as she had told me. 20 minutes later, the room was still cold, so I rang reception. She answered and said she would come along. When she came in the room she was still tutting and huffing and berating me for not doing as she told me originally. Apparently, I had upset all the settings. By this time, I was incensed by her attitude and would have confronted her about it had it not been that my husband was in the room and anxious enough about the change of surroundings. TIP FOR OWNER: IF YOUR CUSTOMERS ARE CONSTANTLY PRESSING THE WRONG BUTTONS AND UPSETTING YOUR HEATING SYSTEM, LEAVE PRINTED INSTRUCTIONS ON THE WALL, NEXT TO THE REMOTE. SIMPLES. 2ND TIP: A BIT OF EMPATHY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES WOULDN'T GO AMISS!

Stayed here during August, whilst on business. On arrival I was greeted by the resident dog, which moults, a lot! No one on reception, when I did get my key card it was nothing but trouble and temperamental, the room was basic some what dated and could do with a deep clean to say the least, I don’t want to know what half the stains/marks/drips are. The toilet seat was broken the whole of my stay. The staff in the restaurant seemed pleasant enough, couldn’t say the same for the ‘blonde’ cleaner, I didn’t catch her name but I could hear her, she needs to remember the walls are thin and that customers can hear everything, she sounds snappy and for sure there are chunks out of the walls the way she throws the hoover around in the mornings. This should have been an easy stay over but I won’t be back, no matter how convenient, wouldn’t recommend!

When we got we used key to get in to bedroom area, didn't work. Changed key and got in, went to dinner, not good mediocre and overpriced.. went back to room again problems with the key.. nextday after breakfast which was ok but again overpriced. We Went back to room to get ready for the wedding we were going the shower would not get hot, there reaction let us use vacant next door rooms bathroom just to shower only. So we then had to traipse next door after shower in towels to get dried and dressed. After another problem with keys gave us a new set, unfortunately after we got back at 11.30pm from wedding, keys would not work on bedroom door again, no one around to give assistance and main building shut and in the dark. We were lucky as we were on the ground floor and had left window slightly open, my son climbed in and let us into room. Not even a offer of a part refund just a apology. Give this place a wide berth.
