The hotel is great, very modern and love the option of booking a room with a balcony.

I had mentioned it was my husbands birthday and they kindly organised a complimentary birthday platter with cake and ice cream and brownies, it was delicious.

I was a bit disappointed with the cleanliness of the room however, the remote was either dusty or dirty and there were hairs in the shower showing it hadn’t been cleaned to a high standard.

Apart from that, the hotel is following protocols of COVID-19 to a high standard, track & trace, masks in public areas and plenty of hand sanitiser.

Breakfast was great, they bring around a trolley with tea/coffee, yogurt, fruit, pastries etc as there is no buffet due to COVID-19. You can also order a cooked breakfast which was very tasty and filling.

The hotel has a small lot in their courtyard for parking as well as a little drive through bit where you can stop and drop your bags off. This was good as we parked across the road for £4 per day which was paid at the hotel meaning we didn’t have to muck around with any machines or pay & display.

I think the hotel is overpriced for the area however, Bridgwater is not a destination I would recommend and the hotel seems somewhat oddly placed. I feel it might appeal to corporate clients rather than leisure clients. There’s a great rock pub across from the hotel but other than that, I wouldn’t stay in Bridgwater too long.

Staying here for one night on way back from cycling trip .at present the prices are a snip compared to hotal off a much lower standard bathroom is state off the art shower amazing every think you could nead iron hairdryer in room. The hotal is sticking rigdelly to govment rules mask required in all public areas no cups in rooms but it is deftnelly a safe place to stay, eat in restaurant very classy and not much more expensive then a pub b and b I had just stayed at I found the British burger a bit tough but they may just have been my taste. Disappointed gym was closed but understanbel I have stayed at another hotal in this chain and find then very good value I live farelly local so am unlikely to stay very often but I would recommend it

Recently Stayed here for a 4 night break with hubby.

So the good points first..

It’s a nice modern/clean hotel, very central if you want to travel say into Devon like we did. Also walking distance to high street for restaurants/takeaways etc.
Rooms are comfortable with tea/coffee & a fridge which is nice.
Bathroom was a good size with a lovely waterfall shower.
We didn’t really see much of the staff but the young lady on reception when we checked in/out was very pleasant.
If you want your room cleaned you have to ask, if not you just leave your towels outside your door & collect clean ones from the reception area along with shower gel/shampoo etc, really good idea.
If you come by car & park in the hotel car park its £10 per day. Right opposite the hotel is a car park which is free between 6pm & 9am so works out way cheaper. Be careful if your going to be there after 9am though as the wardens were really hot & in the car park at 8:55am ready to ticket anyone who hadn’t paid. My husband used pay on his phone if we were going to be later than 9, think it cost us about £4 for the week instead of £40 if we’d of parked in the hotel.

Now the not so good..

We decided to have breakfast the first morning, I think it was £10 pp.
Now considering how Covid safe they are with the cleaning of the rooms I was totally shocked to see the breakfast area was back to normal buffet style with everyone helping themselves to food.
Most of the other guests wasn’t wearing masks so therefore breathing (or even coughing on the food). The pastries were all just sitting there not even covered, also the tables were way too close together.
Whilst I do understand that we need to be getting back to some kind of normality & you don’t have to officially wear a mask or social distance anymore I really did feel very uncomfortable in this restaurant as did my husband.
The only other thing was on entering our room there was a very strong damp smell. My husband said it was the drain on the shower & cleaned it out, after running water down it for some time it seemed ok. The following evening it was the same though.
Also the shower tray is quite shallow & with the power of the shower soon filled up with water. Either a bad design or maybe just needs a good clean.
All in all though we enjoyed our stay & would stay here agin.

We are staying at present at the Mercure Bridgwater on a Groupon Deal. This included two nights stay, breakfast and a glass of wine per couple on arrival.
With an additional Groupon deal we had dinner for two in the on sight restaurant, Marco Pierre White’s, with another two glasses of wine with dinner.
The room was a Superior King, large and very comfortable with a very modern interior.
Close to all amenities (town and bus station).
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Food in the restaurant was exceptional.
Would definitely stay here again.
Tip to the wise, on sight car parking £15 per night. We chose the Eastover Car Park opposite only £4 per day and free on Sundays.

Booked a 3 night dinner, bed and breakfast break through Secret Escapes and it was great value. The town of Bridgewater could do with a little TLC but the hotel was modern and clean with extremely friendly staff from the receptionist through to the bar and restaurant staff. This is a Marco Pierre White restaurant and the food was amazing. There is a special Secret Escapes menu for the included dinner option and there is more than enough choice, 4 starters, 6 mains and 4 desserts I think. The best sticky toffee pudding on the planet! Great base for Cheddar Gorge. Parking opposite the hotel in designated spaces for hotel guests was no problem. Thankyou Mercure Bridgewater for looking after us.

This is a lovely hotel - if a bit out of place. We were actually on our way to Dorset and we had a voucher for afternoon tea so I saw that this hotel was the nearest to where we were going. Then we decided to book a room and drive down to stay the night before. We booked a room with a balcony. Nice touch but the view is not ‘balcony friendly’. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. There were small touches such as a USB port in the night light and two different showers (rainfall and standard) and the kettle and cups etc on a purpose built tray with no trailing wires! Fabulous!
However, we called room service for a bottle of wine as soon as we got there and after an hour my husband called again to find out where it was. That took another fifteen minutes and as my husband came back into the room with a bottle and two glasses (no tray) he dropped a glass that instantly shattered. Called room service again, told them what happened and half an hour later he had to go back down to reception to find out what was going on. He was given the dirtiest and most over used dustpan and brush (‘sorry, that’s all we’ve got) while also overhearing the person behind the bar make a comment such as ‘what am I, a f***ing bellhop!’.
We cleared up the glass and expected someone to come and collect it but as we went down for dinner, it was still outside the door. While we were at dinner, we requested that someone bring some shower gel to the room because the bottle was empty - even though the room was apparently ready when we arrived.

The food was not up to a standard to have a sponsor such as Marco Pierre White and we skipped dessert because the staff were clearing up and closing down around us and it made me uncomfortable. Also we were served a carafe of water and the waiter held the carafe by the top instead of the neck.
The bed and pillows were very comfortable and I slept really well. The shower was lovely and was even better once we got some shower gel.
It was not clear at breakfast that you could request pots of tea or, for example, different types of egg. It was not clear whether you would be served at your table or whether it was all buffet style.
All in all it was a lovely stay in a slightly misplaced hotel - I think maybe the training programme for staff should be a bit more extensive.
We did mention a few of the problems as we left and the receptionist graciously gave us a small refund which we were not expecting.

PS the afternoon tea was AMAZING!

Welcoming and up together as always. Apart from the calamari starter and main course steak bearnaise being spot on, the VC champagne by the glass slips down beautifully. Always a great place to pop in for lunch or dinner. Nice selection of wine too.

Average hotel, the Marco Pierre White makes this hotel, evening food was very nice but a shame there was not much else to say about the hotel, very uncomfortable bed (worst hotel bed I’ve ever slept in for me & my fiancée). We had a birthday cake board as a lovely surprise on our first evening in our room, which was really nice touch, but we put our “Make our room up hanger on the door for 2 days but never had our room cleaned, cake board there for our 3 night stay & wet towels not replaced from the bathroom floor (as told to place towels that need changing, we told reception about this matter on the 2nd night & they apologised but room not cleaned for our whole stay which spoilt the stay. Outside the hotel was very rough & run down in the high street with gangs fighting at 5pm in the afternoon on our first day so we never ventured back into the town, dissatisfied with the hotel except the the restaurant & restaurant staff who was really good & polite waiters & waitresses, won’t be recommending this hotel

A disappointing bank holiday stay for 2 nights. The hotel looks modern and well appointed on arrival however housekeeping is non existent-didn't see anyone cleaning any communal areas in the 2 days and your room is not cleaned during your stay-due to Covid. The bar staff except one didn't give any eye contact to waiting customer's!! The breakfast staff are rude and unprofessional, breakfast itself was of poor quality ingredients- cheap white and brown bread, no choice of other breads available, limited boxed cereals, greasy fried eggs no other choice available when asked for a hard boiled egg. I can honestly say this is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in, in a very long time.

On first arrival in Bridgwwater was a little disappointed with the location next to the main road, we were only using the hotel as a base so not hugely worried out this. But the hotel inside was clean and well presented, well soundproofed so you could not hear the traffic outside and had a good restaurant.

The restaurant was good, with good food proportions and they managed to continue to serve breakfast throughout the week unlike another hotel (Devere Wokefield that we stayed in after our Somerset break).

Bridgwater is conveniently place near to the coast, the Quantocks and the Mendips - head straight there and give Bridgwater town centre a miss as not anything worth visting there I am afraid.
